Here are my recommendations for you, I hope you will enjoy. I hope that you pick B but I think they are all great books in their own right.

A. He Loves Lucy ~ Susan Donovan
B. Naked in Death ~ JD Robb
C. Acheron ~ Sherrilyn Kenyon
D. Dark Lover ~ JR Ward
E. Say Goodnight Gracie ~ Julie Reece Deaver
F. Dream Man ~ Linda Howard

Hina (hinaj) | 2581 comments Hi SheSwitches's,

A. Five Stars: My most recent five star book was To beguile a beast by Elizabeth Hoyt, which is the third book in the series. So I will recommend To Taste Temptation, the first book, which I also gave five stars to. It is a historical romance, which you don't usually read. I hope you like it.

B. Night Pleasures By Sherrilyn Kenyon. This was my first book that introduced me to Kenyon and the Dark hunter series. This is my all time favorite and so addicting.

C. Undead and Unwed by Mary Janice Davidson. I noticed you didn't have her on your list. I like the series because its a very laid back read and funny and paranormal!

D. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I have seen this book being recommended so many times, and I have been meaning to read it for a while.

E. Just the Sexiest Man AliveBy Julie James. It was suggested to me for the last month Pick it for me challenge and I loved the book. I am not much into contemporary romance but I have been recommended some great books. This being the most recent one. I would have never read this on my own.

F. The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown. Since you already read angel and demons and wasn't that fond of it, I thought the next one might work out better for you.

Hope you find something among the list to read and love it!

Tina "IRead2Escape" (tinar1121) | 1292 comments Here's your picks ~Ang~ #58:

A. Frostbite (Vampire Academy, #2) by Richelle Mead

B. Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning. - I almost feel bad for suggesting this one. I love the series and the final book won't be released until January. It's torture waiting for it. I really think you'll love it!

C. Undead and Unwed by Mary Janice Davidson - This series is just really light hearted and fun, quick reads.

D. Charming the Prince by Teresa Medeiros - I have heard such good things about this book. Really want to read it myself. Can't wait to hear what you think about it.

E. Bound and Determined by Jane Davitt - If you read my review on this one it will say it all. Very surprising!

F. Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews - This wasn't the best book I've ever read, but not terrible. I hear the rest of the series is amazing, so I thought I would pass it on to you.

My suggestion would be to read Darkfever first. But, I am really okay with any of them.

On a side note, I saw that you have Acheron on your TBR list. I didn't suggest that one for you in this thread because it's so long. But, sometime take the time to read it. It took me forever to read because the first half is a little heavy. READ IT! It's amazing! My only regret is not finishing it sooner. So good!

Thenia | 288 comments Drq wrote: "Thenia,

I'm not so sure the logical follows for us because our preferences are like night and day (literally). Looking at your TBR, I see you like vampires and dark things. I am more of a warm..."

Drq, sorry this was so hard for you! I wouldn't worry about it if I were you, though, since I have no problem "broadening my horizons" and reading something from the "other side" of the color spectrum. :P

If I understood correctly, the only book you've read of the ones you recommended is "Catch a Mate", right? Hmmm... Maybe I'll give that one a chance then! Either that or "Lords of the Underworld" since it's the one you think I should read if I don't read 'Catch a Mate'. Then again, I had been planning to read "Practical Magic" for one of October's challenges so maybe this will be the one... Decisions, decisions!

Anyway, don't worry! Your choices are all fine and I'll probably read them all at one time or another. I'll let you know which one I picked when I make up my mind! :)

message 264: by Pam (new)

Pam | 1048 comments Jennifer-I will definitely pick Naked in Death. It was recommended to me last month but it only just came to me from the library reserve so it is in my possession!

I've read He Loves Lucy and Dream Man way back before I joined Goodreads. I love both authors!

Thanks!

message 265: by Anja (new)

Anja | 40 comments Hi, is mee... kissa.

A. My last 5 star book that you haven't read:
Three Nights with a Scoundrel by Tessa Dare
I think it’s the author best book. Do you like the friends-to-lovers and unrequited-love tropes? I only saw a few historical romances on your already-read list so I’m not sure how much you would like it.

B. From Your TBR:
Alpha (Shifters, #6) by Rachel Vincent
There was nothing on your TBR that I’ve read and you haven’t so I picked this from your TBR. Another GR friend of mine is reading and so far loving it. Plus I know you love the cover.

C. New to You:
Beyond the Night (Envy Chronicles, #1) by Joss Ware
I love this series. This first book isn’t the best of the series (my favorite is #3) but the unique spin on the post-apocalyptic setting was enough to keep the pages turning for me. Who doesn’t love zombies that walk around groaning, “Rrrruuuuutttthhhh?” You have to read book two to find out why they do it.

D. I've Been Wanting to Read:
Eternal Hunter (Night Watch, #1) by Cynthia Eden
This is the first in a trilogy; the third book will be out in December. I enjoyed the author’s Midnight Trilogy.

E. Surprise Pleasure for Me:
Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair
This was my first sci-fi romance set in space and I really liked it. It is funny, romantic, and full of action. Branden is a great hero.

F. Extra Pick:
Grimspace (Sirantha Jax, #1) by Ann Aguirre
I have only stepped my little toe into the UF pool but this book is on my TBR.

I'd love to see more people reading the series for book C so that would be my top recommendation.

message 266: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 169 comments For Penney (#23) – Taurus Extraordinaire!

A - 5 star read: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
This is a YA book, but the storyline and characters are well done. I really enjoyed it.

B - TBR pick: Ransom by Julie Garwood
I love all of Julie Garwood’s historical books and this is one of my favorites, and I see you haven’t read it. Scottish hunks and a mystery!

C - New to You: Dead Witch Walking by Kim Harrison
The first book in The Hollows series, which I think is one of the best paranormal/UF series around. Rachel is a bit screwed up but Jinx and Ivy bring a humorous balance to her life.

D - For you and Me: How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
This book has been on my TBR pile for what seems forever and everyone keeps telling me it’s a great series.

E - Surprise Pleasure: The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig
When I first received this book, I was a bit skeptical of the whole Victorian spy mystery with a contemporary romance. I liked it so much I’ve continued to read the series.

F - Extra pick: The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran
A wonderful historical romance set in India, with a heroine that is strong and independent. This was the first Meredith Duran book I read and won’t be the last.

The Hunger Games (Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Ransom (Highlands' Lairds, #2) by Julie Garwood Dead Witch Walking (Rachel Morgan/The Hollows, #1) by Kim Harrison How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire (Love at Stake, #1) by Kerrelyn Sparks The Secret History of the Pink Carnation (Pink Carnation, #1) by Lauren Willig The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran

Coffeentea | 128 comments Cathy (#33), these are my picks for you. I hope you find something you like.

A. Most recent 5 stars rated book: Heart Of Fire by Kristen Painter [4/5 stars] This is a really engaging fantasy with elves, magic and a great romance.

B. From your TBR list that I think you will enjoy: Immortals After Dark 1 - A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole [4/5 stars] I love the Immortals After Dark series. This is a paranormal romance series with a cast of immortals such as werewolves, vampires, demons, valkyries, nymphs, witches and feys. Each story focuses on a couple but further the overall plot line as well. I love that each book is full of suspense, action, humor, romance and some creative love scenes (specifically, in Dark Desires After Dusk). I notice you like LOTU, so I think you'll enjoy this series as well.

C. New to the you: Harmony 1 - After Dark by Jayne Castle [4/5 stars] This is a scifi romance series about humans colonized a world called Harmony. The humans are gradually developing psychic powers, which they need to channel through crystals to focus. There’s quirky characters, exciting adventures and a cute dust bunny.

D. Something I been meaning to read: Warriors of Poseidon 05 – Atlantis Redeemed by Alyssa Day I been meaning to catch up with this series. I needed a break from dark past of poor Alexios after the last book.

E. Surprise pleasure: Reason To Believe by Leslie Ann Dennis I don’t normally like contemporary romance, usually there’s got to be some mystery or suspense. But I saw this book recommended in an Amazon forum, got the sample and was hooked. It’s just a beautifully written romance.

F. Second choice: The Gathering 1 - Hunting Season by Shelly Laurenston [5/5 stars] This is full of funny dialogue, lots of action, steamy love scenes, what more can you ask for? Of all Shelly Laurenston’s books, I love this one the most.

My top pick for you would be A Hunger Like No Other.

Heart Of Fire by Kristen Painter A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole After Dark (Harmony, #1) by Jayne Castle Atlantis Redeemed (Warriors of Poseidon, #5) by Alyssa Day Reason To Believe by Leslie Ann Dennis Hunting Season (The Gathering, #1) by Shelly Laurenston

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) Hi Carolyn F!

Sorry for the delay - only have computer access at work - and on a different time zone.

Anyway:
A. Three Days to Dead - I read it last month, and was a 4-star for me.
B. The Paid Companion - this is on your TBR, and I'd recommend it.
C. Steamed - fun, and a romp through a steampunk world.
D. Kitty and the Midnight Hour - I've tried to read this one a couple of times. So, maybe this month!
E. Fables: Legends in Exile - this category was a bit of a struggle! I try NOT to pick up books outside my reading zone - and my reading zone is large. Hence, a graphic novel.
F. Touched by an Alien - fun, action, super-hot hero.

What one do I most highly recommend??? Umm - depends on your reading mood. For a fun, light, read - Touched by an alien.

Hope you can find something in there!

Valerie | 295 comments Here are my picks for Emily:

A: ***** = The Hunger Games - The last book I gave 5 stars to is actually the third in this trilogy, but this one got five, too. I figured you would want to start at the beginning.

B: TBR = The Time Traveler's Wife - Awesome!

C: New = If I Stay - Quick read.

D: My TBR = Matched - Looks like fun. If you read this one I will try to get my hands on a copy to read this month, too.

E: Surprise = Skinny Dip - I stole this from my husband and was surprised that I enjoyed it so much.

F: Extra = Shiver - This is the ONE that I most hope you will read.

message 272: by Valerie (new)

Valerie | 295 comments Thanks for putting so much time into this Jim - very fun.

Stacie, thanks for the great picks. I think I will start with Visions of Heat because I already own a copy. I will definitely add the others to my TBR. My daughter is in her second year of a Forensic Anthropology major - she will love that you picked the Kathy Reichs book for me!

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Sherri, my Taurus sister! Jim is really on to something here b/c we're 91% similar. I've really been looking forward to your recs, but now I don't know what the heck to pick! Chances are that I'll go with The Hunger Games. It's not a book I would ever have picked for myself, in fact I purposely pass over it every time I see it. But the point of this challenge, in my opinion, is to try something new. And since I trust your judgement, this may very well be the winner :)

Regardless, I have a number of books to add to my TBR. Thanks!

A. My latest 5 star – Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare, your TBR list doesn’t show any YA-PNR which this is but following Jim’s rules and I LOVED this book
B. A book on your TBR that I've read and think you will enjoy –Soulless by Gail Carriger it’s a HR and PNR in one, I found it to be a lot of fun
C. A book that is totally new to you that I think you will like and that I have read and enjoyed – The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, this is YA but it’s one of my Fav’s of 2010
D. A book that I have wanted to read but have yet to read, from your TBR - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson – This has been on TBR for too long, the length gets in the way but I am determined to give it a go
E. A surprise pleasure, something outside my normal reading that I read and enjoyed – The Cellist of Sarajevo by Steven Galloway, definitely not my normal reading but another of my favs over the past year.
F. A book on your TBR that I've read and think you will enjoy - second choice: The Lion’s Lady by Julie Garwood, I re-read this recently and it looks like something you’d like but isn’t on any of your shelves
G. The book that would be my first choice for you: - The Duke and I by Julia Quinn, This is one of the few you have on your that I've read and put 5*

Hope you find something you like :) I hope you'll read Lion's Lady, I think this book the most up your alley and I LOVE all Julie Garwood's HR books. I think you'll be hooked too.
