ൠSinful (sinful) | 118 comments Michelle in Florida:

Of Time:
1. Historical:Changeless

*2. Contemporary To All A Good Night Talk about a left field book to buy and read in July!! It was an anthology and frankly being novella's with a HEA it was just too unbelievable that in a couple of days 3 couples were proclaiming love. Good stories. Yes. But, they all seemed unrealistic. I think I like theses short novella love stories when it's a shifter who meets their destined mate. That makes sense- love in 24 hours when it is a chemical reaction makes sense. The rest was ridiculous. But I knew what I was buying didn't I. (*This is 1st of 3 non Paranormal element books)

3. Futuritic Bonds of Justice This was a great addition to the Psy Changeling series. If you haven't read them, start with book 1. Although each book is a HEA, there is a big political story that evolves in each book. A LOT continues to evolve with the Pure Psy fanatics working for the elimination of humans, changelings and fractured psy... Great new characters and even a few more I want to know more about. Max has a brother I hope we meet at some point

4. time-travel The Immortal Highlander You know, I am kinda glad I didn't read all these way back when. I think I did the 4 big ones you need for Fever and now I am a happy girl. First, I just love my highlanders. Ooooohh. Yummo. Second, I think I want to go crazy and read all the highlanders and fever books with a spiral taking copious notes before the final book comes out. I had no idea this is how bad ol D was changed from Fae to Mortal. Sittin on Cocoa beach as happy as a girl can be!

*5. 1967 At Wit's End (This is my 2nd of 3 allowed non paranormal element books) Mom had this book. Not in great shape at all because it is funny funny funny and has been abused through the years. Nice revisit. Funny how much is still appropriate and where times have changed. I would think it is out of print now. I know kindle and BN didn't have it as a download.

6. a major city (urban) Twice Bitten I just love this series. One of my favorite three and I am so sad that I have to wait another YEAR for a new one. UGG. That being said, there were points in this book where I wanted to chuck it against the wall. I read the first two in a fast day and this one took a long time. I kept walking away mad at a character. But, in the end I am ok for another year. Thank heavens.

7. a rural setting: The Mane Attraction LOVE Shelly Laurenston. Just love her humor and story telling. The characters are fun. The story is sexy, but they don't jump in bed and stay there. By the time they hook up I am drooling for it. And the plot is always great.

8. space or off-planetBorn of Night

9. cannot be found in a current world map. (fantasy). Night Life decent UF. Actually, I did enjoy the story and the world/character building of this first in series. What I got sick of was her being so negative and grumpy all the time. Well. I think the last sentence was uplifting. Until then she needed a shot of happy or even snarky. I will read the next one, but if she is always like this I won't last for 5 books.

10. you have visited: The Mane Squeeze(New York City) Another Shelly Laurenston. Just love the relationships she develops between lovers, family, and friends. Yummy!

Others Read:
Voyeur Great story. Really loved the characters but normally I think m/f romantic erotica isn't any more tawdry than BDB. But this one is blush city. For a book titled voyeur, I sure felt like I needed to draw the shades and have a bit of privacy whilst I read. :)
Naughty Little Secret I did like this erotica book. It is a bit bizarre- just NOTHING like anything I have ever read along plot lines. And that is refreshing. But it did disturb me at times. It isn't dark- like rape or out there like menage- it is a romance- but how he romances her is just .... nothin' I would respond to.
Changeless (The Parasol Protectorate, #2) by Gail Carriger To All A Good Night by Donna Kauffman Bonds of Justice (Psy-Changeling, #8) by Nalini Singh At Wit's End by Erma Bombeck Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill The Mane Attraction (Pride, #3) by Shelly Laurenston Night Life (Nocturne City, #1) by Caitlin Kittredge The Mane Squeeze (Pride, #4) by Shelly Laurenston The Immortal Highlander (Highlander, #6) by Karen Marie Moning Born of Night (The League, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I finished Beyond the Highland Mist and after reading it, it does seem more like it should be in the Time travel category. I placed it in the historical category originally after I read the back cover because the story takes place in the year 1500. So I guess it can be in either category? I am going to leave it in historical for now because I already have a selection for time travel but that too may change. By the way..... It is a pretty good read.

The Challenge of Time and Place.

Challenge Duration: July 1, 2010 - July 31, 2010

4/10 read

Settings, including both the time element and location, are as important in the makings of a good story as great characters and well-though out plotline.

Of Time:
1. Read a book that is set in the past Blood Magic by Eileen Wilks

4. Read a book that involves time-travel.

5. Read a book that was popular on the year that you were born. The Mouse that Roared by Leonard Wibberley (1955)

2. Read a book that is set in the present Primal Needs by Susan Sizemore

3. Read a book that is set in the future (futuristic).
Of place
6. Read a book that is set in a major city Primal Desires by Susan Sizemore

7. Read a book that is set in a rural setting, small town or country.
8. Read a book that is set in space or off-planet.
9. Read a book that happens in a place that is completely created by the author's imagination or a place that cannot be found in a current world map. (fantasy).
10. Read a book set in the city, state or country you currently lived in, or a place, city, state or country you have visited

The book that I choose for catagory 1,Blood Magic is one of those books that kind of fits a couple of different catagories for me. Its partially historical (set 400 or so years ago in China) so I put it down for that. But it could also count for category 10 for me, since the modern part of the book is set in San Diego, CA. While I don't live there now, I did live there in the past. I'm hanging onto category 10 since I'm hoping I'll find a book in my big, huge tbr pile that's set in another place I've lived. (Can we say BBIIGGGGGG field for that one? My Dad was Navy, so I've lived all over the world)

Tina | 53 comments Has anyone ever read a book and felt depressed when it ended? I usually read series that are HEA. I read The Last Summer for the challenge and also because I've owned it for a while now. I really liked it but when I finished it I was just kinda down and now I'm having a hard time starting another book. I just wanted a little more clarity in the end I guess.
