My grandad used to work for Sears, and when I was 10, I discovered a reprint of the 1902 catalog at his house. This began my new favorite hobby: designing houses on graph paper and "furnishing" them using old Sears catalogs. When I was about 13 or 14, I found a reprint of the 1926 Sears house catalog--I hadn't realized that, back in the day, Sears sold all the materials to build houses, too! Recently I was at my grandparents' house again and started paging through some of the old catalogs and was hit by a wave of nostalgia. I found this book on their shelves, too, and realized I didn't know much about Sears houses, aside from the fact they sold them for about 30 years. The lady who wrote this book actually travels all over looking for old Sears houses, so this was right up my alley. I'm pretty sure I've seen a few in various places I've lived, too!
