Still Clinging to the Summer VacationA couple of years ago I spent a holiday on a boat on the River Severn. I very much enjoyed watching the many narrowboats in which people were holidaying and sometimes living fulltime. Later, in another town, we walked along the canal towpath, admiring the narrowboats there. Several were permanent homes, and I was amazed that people could live comfortably in a space which is only 7 feet wide! So I read this book to find out how they actually do it - it is the author's account of a year in which she and her family lived on, and renovated, a narrowboat - and it certainly cured me of any envy I felt about such a lifestyle!
