Hey.. where is Salman Rushdie,Arvind Adiga, Ruskin Bond, Kunal Basu, Kiran Desai, Sudha Murty?
NICE ONE I GOT TO KNOW ABOUT BEST INDIAN AUTHOR BOOKS...THANKS A LOT...LOOKING FORWARD TO READ THOSE...thumps up \m/ :D

I don't think this list has got anything to do with the ranking or quality of books.At the most it just gives an option to the readers to choose a book written by debut Indian authors.Since most of the publishers do not promote books written by newbies their work don't even stand a chance to be noticed or evaluated. So readers be aware! You have to choose a book at your own risk and don't rely on the ranking which has no value at all.
stupid stupid list . rk naryanan so low . 2 states on top ????? dumb list i sincerely hope no one buys books seeing this joke of a list . and i fail to understand why alchemist is listed here? as far i remember it is neither set in india nor is paulo from india

If anyone goes by this list and buy the top books they will get a really bad opinion of Indian literature...
How did non Indian books get here? For eg Harry Potter at 106, Hunger Games at 111, Percy jackson at 162 and Steve Jobs at 170. I don't hate those books. I love them but them being on this list doesn't make sense. There might be more such books that don't belong in this list.
Crooked wrote: "And please add only books set in India or books by Indian authors to the list."Looks like some people forgot to take that point into consideration.
Rating is haphazard...many of the best Indian writers ( Rushdie, Murthy, ruskin bond, Premchand) are Ignored...And 2 states on top???? Above The God of Small things of Interpreter of Maladies;

Although the list doesn't hold much credibility, it is definitely a great opportunity to know the young indian authors and who are doing good.
Hi everyone,I have created a new group called Goodreads All Sorts and I'd love for people to join it or just even just give it a look. It's a group that discusses anything and everything. There will be monthly group reads, movies, and music. There is a folder for everything you could think of. I'd really like if people could spread the word because I'd love for the group to be a success. Here is the link to the group:

Thanks very much,

Removed Stephenie Meyer, Arthur Conan Doyle, Samantha Schutz, Rick Riordan, Nicholas Sparks, Nicole Banks, Walter Isaacson, Stephen R. Covey, John Grisham, Kelli Sullivan, T.J. Anderson, Barack Obama, Bill Watterson, J.K. Rowling, Suzanne Collins for not fitting the list rules.

Themis-Athena, I wish that there was some control that banned these books from lists with tags other than "vapid", "abusive" and "never-read".
Arushi wrote: "I wish that there was some control that banned these books from lists with tags other than "vapid", "abusive" and "never-read"."Hehe. You're not alone ...
Deleted "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" by Milan Kundera, as it was miscategorized. Neither is Kundera Indian nor is the book set in India.

Monica Ali (Brick Lane, #110) is Bangladeshi, not Indian, nor is her book set in India. It should really be removed...
It seems a few of the titles I added previously have been deleted, while they were all fiction and all by Indian authors. Whoever deleted them, didn't mention deleting them (as they should have done, really).As a librarian myself, I really would like to see a message in a comment box by whoever is deleting books, to indicate which books have been deleted.... Just common courtesy.
Could a librarian delete #598 Deception Point by Dan Brown? It's neither set in India nor written by an Indian author.
Fatima wrote: "Could a librarian delete #598 Deception Point by Dan Brown? It's neither set in India nor written by an Indian author."Done. I came across another Dan Brown one, Angels & Demons, that didn't sound like it was set in India and have removed that one too.
