You are both right, Vicki and Sophie. I wanted to get my TBR shelf down to around 700 by the end of next year so I’ve either got some serious reading to do, or I need to go through and decide if I’m actually going to read some of the book that have been on there a long time, or both.
But now I have discovered I quiet like audiobooks and my library app does those too, I should “read” more next year anyway because of that.... hopefully...

Oh no. I may have made a mistake. So I spend a long time going though my local library’s app and they recently added a feature to save books to a list to read later. Oh boy did I add books. Initially I was just going to save the books that I had heard of and wanted to read... but no, that didn’t happen. Let’s just say my TBR list is well over 100 books longer...
I now have around 920 books on my TBR list. Some of the books are very short so if I read those ones and finish a few others I’m reading, maybe I will get my TBR list back under 900 for the new year...

I finished book 36 last night which means I have only one book left in that series! I hope to finish that by the end of the month. There might be one more on my list that I finish, but otherwise the rest will have to wait for next year :P

My TBR shelf is dangerously close to 800. I know why. 1. because I add books in series I own or have started so they add up and 2. because I read a lot of manga and I will add the first volume of a series I want to read and then after I've read that first volume, if I want to contine reading it, I will add all the volumes currently available. One manga I'm currently reading has about 96 volumes and I'm only on about 14... so that's about 80 books on it's own.

I don't usually add manga to this challenge, but a couple are so long that I've been working through for a while that I am going to add the last volume (or latest at the beginning of 2020 if it is still ongoing) and hope to work towards finishing some of those and that should help get my TBR list down significantly.

I finished another one today.
This was recommended to me a few years ago by a good friend and I found an audio copy on my local library app.

I finished book 34 the other day The Marvelous Land of Oz.

I still have a couple of books I would like to finish by the end of this year.

I’m going to have so many left overs from this year as I got a bIt carried away when making my list, but it is mostly the remainder of series that I started, but didn’t get around to finishing. It didn’t help I went on a bit of a reading slump for the first few months of this year.
Anyway, those left overs are going to be apart of next years challenge so I can try and finish those series (I’m trying to finish those that I only have one or two books left in before next year).
The rest of my list will be in categories. Physical books (namely those I already own), ebooks and audiobooks. Usually I focus more on the books I already own, but I’ve had books on my kindle for as long as I’ve owned it (which is maybe about 5 years, if not more) and I keep forgetting about them because they aren’t staring me in the face, so I am going to make a point to read some of them.

Cleaning out the TBR closet 2020 challenge

I just finished book 33 which means I have now finished the triology!
I will probably finish another book from my list tonight or tomorrow and then I hope to finish another one or two before the end of the year!

Also, this is where I start subtly requesting for next years' thread.

I’m in too. I’ll probably use a kindle version so I can read some when I’m out and about (or sneakily at work) on my phone. I may end up getting an audiobook copy later on if I fall behind.

Yeah, I have a lot of the classics on my kindle, I just forget to read much on my kindle because I have so many physical books staring at me.

I still probably have about 200 books I added in 2012 when I joined and added basically every book I had heard of, so mostly classics. I'm not expecting to finish all of those any time soon, especially as I still haven't acquired copies of many of them or my library app doesn't have them. I mostly focus on the books on my tbr list that I have copies of or that I know I can get a hold of easily.

I wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation either.

I just made myself feel better by counting how many physical books I’ve read this year. I’ve mostly read e-books this year because of my local library app I’ve been using, so I was worried I had neglected my physical books.
As it turns out, I’ve read 14 of my physical books this year and I plan to finish a couple more too.
I usually aim for at least 12 physical books (one for each month) each year so I at least feel like I’m tackling my ever growing real life bookshelf.

Anyway, I felt I had to share with someone and it seemed somewhat relative to post that here :p

I know you are all probably getting bored with my progress updates, but this should be the last one for at least a week, maybe two.
