35559 I was planning to finish Norwegian by Night for this round but it looks like you've all got it covered so I'll just leave the last bit until tomorrow
Jun 24, 2020 03:19AM

35559 After having an initial look at the lists of books with those tags, I'm not sure I'll be able to help much, but I'll have a better look later.
If I don't find anything, I'll focus on books for the harder letters.

35559 I also agree that it is black.

I finished One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest last night and it is a relief to finally have that one off my to read list. I'm now working to finish the other two I have started by friday.

35559 Thank you everyone for you kind words about my job and my moving plans. Realistically, I don't know how long it will take to get a visa to live and work in Norway, but for now I plan to go there for a couple of months, maybe from August, so I can spend some time with my boyfriend (who I haven't seen since October) and gain some confidence with the language as well as look of potential jobs.

Now back to this, I have decided to get an audiobook copy of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest as I only managed about 10 pages earlier before I wanted to do something else. It's not that I dislike the story, it just seems a little slow and isn't holding my attention. I'm going to listen for about an hour before bed and then I plan to listen to most of it tomorrow as I really want to move on to something I enjoy more.

35559 I am determined to finish the 3 books I am reading before the end of this round. I'm finding One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest a real struggle and I am depserately hoping it gets me hooked soon. I can't leave something unfinished once I've started and I want to finish it this round for the crazy tag.

At least the other two I am reading I'm enjoying.

35559 I am at 78% even after upping my goal twice. Most of the books I have read this year have been on my TBR list for a long time. The beginning of the year, I was able to get some older ones of the list with being able to listen to audiobooks at work. Since being off work, my progress has slowed down, but I've still been getting at least one or two off the list ever month.

35559 I recieved the news today that I no longer have a job. I suspected it as I had only been there a month before they closed because of the virus and if they had to let people go, I would have been top of the list.
This has however, pushed forward my plans to move to Norway to live with my boyfriend which is both very exciting and scary as I didn't think it would potentially happen this year.

I don't think I will get much reading done today as I very distracted and have lots to think about, but hopefully I'll be able to make up the time over the next few days.

35559 I am currently reading 3 different books, potentially 4 depending on the answer to my next question.

What is the standing on Non-fiction books? I read a little bit of How to Bullet Plan Everything You Need to Know About Journaling with Bullet Points by Rachel Wilkerson Miller last night and I could probably read it pretty quick. It has 241 pages but I'm not entirely sure it would reach the word count due to the layout. I've tried looking for a word count, but I can't find one.
I guess what I'm really asking is, if I read it will it count? If not, I'll put it to one side for now.

35559 I finished my first book Kidnapped (David Balfour, #1) by Robert Louis Stevenson and I've updated the spreadsheet.

I am currently also reading One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey but I feel like it will be a struggle. I picked it up earlier this year, read the first few pages then put it aside so I wasn't planning to read it this year anymore, but it fits the Crazy tag. I've worked out how much I need to read daily to finish it for this part and it is very do-able. I have so far made it further than my first attempt and hopefully it will pick up from there.

35559 I finished an audiobook I was listening to earlier and I just finished a book which I wasn't sure I would finish in time. Everything else I had started is now on hold so I am ready to go.
Jun 12, 2020 03:52AM

35559 I'm listening to A Little Princess and have about an hour and a half left. There are a few other books that I had hoped to finish, but it doesn't seem likely so I'll just have to read those in between reading things for this.
Jun 11, 2020 09:15AM

35559 I will be reading One flew over the Cuckoos nest as I have a physical copy. I might read The Murmur of Bees on kindle as it was recommended from someone in another team and then I'll listen to an audiobook as well, but I haven't quite decided which.
Jun 07, 2020 06:30AM

35559 Yeah, I'm curious about it too, but I don't think I will rush to read the new book just yet. I've got too many other books on the top of my list right now.

Oh yes, you are right. The Book Thief was narrated by Death so it would work for the 'unusual POV'.

And now I am tempted to listen to this audiobook version of The Hunger Games you have mentioned. Would it still count as a recommendation if I've already read it?

I have Circe on Audiable so it has now jumped up in the list of things I will read soon.

I also 'reserved' several audiobooks from my local library app, including Gulliver's Travels. Most of them become available around the 13th which is great timing.

Now I just need to focus on finishing up as many of the books I have on the go (too many honestly) so that I'm ready for this!

35559 Oooh, I have a hard time picking favourites so I'll just choose three that I remember really liking.

The Letter by Kathryn Hughes was one I really enjoyed a few years ago. The version I had was over 400 pages and from memory would cover the two timelines task as well as several others. I'm planning to read The Key by this author this year and maybe for this challenge at some point.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak was another one I enjoyed and was over 550 pages. It should also cover several tasks.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I really enjoyed the first book in the triology. I struggled to put it down, however I struggled a little with the rest of the triology. It was around 360 pages. I may even re-read it during this challenge as I know it is something I will read quickly and I've been meaning to re-read it anyway.
Jun 05, 2020 05:24AM

35559 I had planned to read The Opal Deception as it is next in the series I am reading as it would fit an O, but it doesn't seem to fit any of the tags, so unless we need it for an O, I can postpone that till later.

I also had One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest planned for this year so it would help me get that off my to-read list and it's tagged as 'crazy' and would cover an O.

I'm a fairly slow reader when it comes to physical books (unless they are really good) but when it comes to audiobooks, I can listen to them for longer periods of time so I could get one done every 3-4 days depending on length. I will look later to see what audiobooks I can get that would fit this challenge.

35559 Hey guys! This is my first wheel-a-thon but I've taken part in UNO for a fews years.

I'm from the UK and I am currently off work because of Coronavirus. I had only been at my current job for a month before lockdown and was still in training. I'm not sure if I've read more since being at home as I was able to listen to audiobooks at work anyway so I've probably just read different books than what I would have if I had been at work.

I have not read Gulliver's Travels either, but I believe it was one of the earliest books I added to my to-read list, so I have been meaning to read it one day.

My shelf is wheel-a-thon-5

35559 I also do what most people have said they do. I add more than I know I'll actually be able to read so that I have options. I also add some throughout the year if I aquire a copy of something that has been on my TBR shelf for years, or if I end up reading something that I didnt initially plan to read this year, but felt in the mood for. As long as it was on my TBR shelf for more than a year, it counts for me. But the longer it was on there, but more sense of achievement I get when I finish reading it.
