Thank you!Yes, the second epilogue was not really worth it. It was like a really long boring history lesson. Don't get me wrong, I love history, I have a degree in it after all. But I dislike it when books that are mostly fiction try and include a lot of history into it. If I wanted the historical details, I would read a history book. The only time I don't mind so much is if it is on subjects I'm really interested in, but generally I'm reading the book for the story, not the history.
I finished it last night!! What a relief. This book will not make it onto my favourites list. I thought it was okay. I would consider re-reading it again at some point, but maybe in like 10 years time. Now to finish up some other books before the end of the year.
I finished War and Peace last night!! What a relief to have that off my list. I'm also hoping to finish The Silver Chair today and then The Last Battle before the end of the year. I'm not sure if I will finish much else from my list but as long as I get those done, I'll be happy.
Last year I made it over halfway through level 3. I don't expect to read as much this year, but hopefully I will at least make it to level 2. 2021 Serious Readers Challenge

I’m nearing the end of the first epilogue and I will try and finish this tomorrow. Not looking forward to the dreaded second epilogue though.
I will join this one. A quick google search showed me that this book has 5 parts and I think 63 chapters total. I’m not sure if that is useful at all. I don’t have a copy yet.
Cleaning out the TBR closet 2021 challengeDuration: 1st January 2021 to 31st December 2021
Last year I started with 906 books on my TBR list. I had wanted to get that down to around 700.
This year I start with 812 (I was under 800 but I added quite a few books at the end of last year) and I will try to get it as close to 600 as I can.
I started 2020 with a goal of 30, but very quickly it looked like I was going to exceed that. I upped my goal a few times over the course of the year and ended up with a goal of 80. By the end of 2020, I had read 87 books off my list.
This year I will begin with a goal of 50.

Wow, well done Sammy! I've managed 82 and may get another one or two by the end of the year.
I will join with anything on the list and I dont think I have read any of them yet. But regardless of what is chosen, I may end up reading a couple of the bigger classics as I already have some of them as audiobooks or on kindle and I may (hopefully) be doing quite a bit of travelling next year so I'll need some entertainment.

I generally make a list at the beginning of the year/end of the previous year of books I definitely want to read that year and sometimes a few extra. I do add to the list over the course of the year as I may get a copy of a book that's been on my TBR list for years or maybe I just fancy reading a specific genre halfway through the year. As long as the book was on my TBR list before the current year, I will add it to my list if I read it. That's the way I do it.
I know some people prefer to just make a list and stick to that and that's okay too! The main thing about this challenge is to clean up those TBR lists, however you want to do it.

I rarely listen to anything slower than 1.5x as to me that sounds more like normal speech in general, but of course it depends on the narrator.
I'll admit that I'm not getting all the details, but honestly, I just want the book done. If I ever re-read it I would read it as text and probably some notes online to make sure I get the details and people correct. But it will be several years before I attempt this again as I have too many other books I want to read.
Thank you both. I'm hoping to get a good chunk of what I have left done today and hopefully make it to at least 90%. I have about 10 hours of the audiobook left which is nothing compared to what we started with! I'm looking forward to finishing this so I can not only mark it as read, but also then I can focus on finishing a few other books before the end of the year.
I just reached part 13 and I'm now at 80%. I may be able to finish it this week, but if not it looks like I'll be done before Christmas.
Probably later this week if last year is anything to go by. Hopefully soon as I've ready got a short list prepared.
