Dino Island #1

The Lost Girls

Rate this book
I’ve spent my life learning about dinosaurs, assuming they were all gone…

But now some very real prehistoric predators are chasing a group of beautiful women…

Who are very interested in chasing me.

How did I get into this mess?

One minute, I was a highly respected professor of paleontology, engaging my students with stories of a completely different world. The next minute, I’d been mysteriously transported to that world, complete with every exotic danger I could imagine.

I knew enough about dinosaurs to scrape by with my own life – but suddenly I had to protect four beautiful women from the jungle’s mysterious and terrifying threats.

They trust me to protect them, and I intend to fulfill them.

But it turns out that they’re expecting me to give them much more than I bargained for…

Ok, to justify my rating...

In one of the groups I'm in here on GR we pick a book from time to time that could possibly be, um... of dubious quality, to read as a group and have a chuckle over. Some of these books have been truly excruciating.
This month we picked this book, and while yes, it was pretty terrible, I can quite honestly say that the daily discussions we've had on this book have been endlessly entertaining and the highlight of my day this past week.

As for the book itself: sure, the author shows their lack of knowledge about dinosaurs, sex, women, anatomy, physics and a whole host of other things, while showing a comprehensive knowledge of stereotypes, cliches and really bad porn.
But the pacing is surprisingly good (unless you're desperate to get to the naughty bits. in that case, you can skip the first half of the book), the actual writing nowhere near as bad as what I was expecting (which probably says more about how terrible some of the stuff I've subjected myself to before is), and the potential for entertaining discussions with like-minded folk is endless.

By all means read it, but I recommend you con a buddy into doing so alongside you.

Terrible, but I decided to give it a second star for the amusement factor. I cannot remember when I've laughed out loud quite so many times at the utterly ridiculous statements or scenes contained within these pages.

I don’t even know what I expected when I picked up this book, but it definitely wasn’t this.It was terrible. I didn’t like the writing, the characters sounded stupid and they acted even stupider. I won’t pick up another book in this series.

Was this a joke? I'm sure the author is jesting right? I don't think I've ever read anything full of teenage boy fantasies in my entire life. The cheerleader, the nerdy sex kitten in glasses, the farm girl with Daisy Dukes, and the Asian concubine. Seriously. I cannot make this up. Add to the fact that they are transported to a land of Dinosaurs and it's like every prepubescent/pubescent nerd's wet dream.

This was so bad I can't even describe it. The nerdy hero who just happens to be soooo irresistible to all the hot girls. There's only so much over the nerd who happens to have a big-dick, a six pack and was a track champion. I mean I rolled my eyes so hard during this whole book I truly hurt myself. Not unlike the nubile young co-eds who hurt themselves on the monster cock that their nerd professor was slinging...who knew!?!

Anyway, if you could guess, this was not a hit for me. Sorry professor but I think you're a tool!

Teenage girl b00b b00bily from beginning to end

Exactly what you'd expect from seeing the cover and boy, do these girls boob boobily. We have a grown man stuck on an island with 4 teenage girls who (as we are constantly reminded) are scantily clad. All four of them have locked and loaded libido pointed directly at the professor and absolutely 0 survival skills or personalities.

There are several action sequences where the professor gets to show off his athletic prowess and capability and saves the day! He is the only one who can lead them and the girls look to him for every single thing. Sadly, being surrounded by clueless and horny teenage girls counts as wish fulfillment for the male audience. There were more action sequences to show off how fit, smart, and willing to sacrifice himself the male character is than steamy scenes. And the ones that were there werent any good.

One nitpick would be that they're surrounded be alleged apex predators whose hunting skills involving running straight at their prey head on and screaming as loudly as they can. I thought they'd have much better hunting skills than that.

Two men and four beautiful young women are trapped on a dinosaur-infested island due to the machinations of a mad scientist.
Almost immediately one man meets a messy end.
It soon becomes clear that they have not travelled into the past, at least not the past as we know it, because the dinosaurs they encounter are from different periods. And there's the small problem of items - a book, a knife, a quilt - they used to have long ago turning up at random.
From the start it is clear that 'The Lost Girls' is a rom com with a frisson of danger.
Of course Professor Swift is a gentleman and they are his students, so any hanky panky is out of the question. The young women, however, have a different idea and eventually take things in hand, literally!
And now it's lot of sex and lots of danger.
It's a fast and fun read - I got a couple of chuckles out of it.
Readers of a serious mind are probably best off avoiding it as it is an odd mix of YA and porn.

Poorly written fanfiction mashing Jurassic World and an isekai harem. The concept of four (obviously super attractive and unique) college freshmen instantly falling head over heels for the awkwardly nerdy dinosaur professor in the first two days of being magically transported to a Dino island and deciding to share him amongst themselves by tying him to a tree and raping him is just garbage to me. I dropped it when after banging the first two girls he woke up tied up again, like you can't think of anything else bro? Also how fucking stupid are the girls to tie up any of them when there are packs of dinos around and you may have to fight at a moments notice? They don't even have a real shelter or anything and they think tying up the dude to fuck is a good use of time when they've only been isolated for 2 days?? C'mon

Someone thought that using a thesaurus to write the MC dialog would make him intelligent. They where wrong. Stupid is stupid and intelligent sounding stupid is still stupid. The author tried to give the women power, but goes too far and totally messes it up. So there are four women Sneaky, Happy, Intense, and Lost. Then there is the guy--Clueless. The girls figure that in order to get some that they have to tie the guy up and then take advantage of him (rape). Then do it again to make sure he doesn't "Get Away". In the meantime the MC is expostulating (nice word!) in his head about the meaning of life, etc. etc. I kind of got lost because someone used a thesaurus and says many things that do not make any logical sense. Then the MC falls in love.

No. Just no. The things I do for challenges. This entire story is just absurd. But on the level of a bad movie night plan. Like reading this is a train wreck that you just can't stop watching. Four college girls and a professor get transported somehow to some strange dinosaur island where mysterious things are happening and they're getting attacked by dinosaurs. But, oh yeah, the crazy lustful attraction they all have for their professor (gives new meaning to the hot for teacher thing) clearly takes precedence over, you know, safety or anything else.

This is absurd and yet for the sake of a challenge I will carry on and read the next absurdity in this series.

Professor Swift and five co-eds from his paleontology class and the yearbook staff somehow managed to end up on an island filled with dinosaurs. Actually, it is likely an experiment created by a physics professor. While trying to figure out what is going on Professor Swift, and the co-eds (Jessica, Ling, Chad, Sarah, and Daisy) first need to survive the dangers of the island. Not to mention the human interactions that develop. And of course the book ends on a cliff-hanger after a boss fight! Will have to see what happens in parts 2-4!

Not very good

It has its moments but it needs a lot of work. What I vex me the most is that a paleontologist identifies dinosaurs as monsters first, dinosaurs second and the actual species last. The dinosaurs don't feel dangerous or even real. A spinosauros hunting on land almost exclusively. Utah raptors hunting by their lonesome. Danger only appears when plot demands it. I still finish it duo but on my second attempt and it was pure torture.

Lost Girls

Good book for for my first read by this author. Mark and his students handled them pretty good with no experience and no first hand knowledge of prehistoric animals. That said, I'm really looking forward to the next book. This one has stirred my interest. Seems like a long time before the next book is released.

Same same, but different!

This book puts a new twist on the harem genre, which makes for a very interesting read. Looking forward to the next book!
