35559 Crime and Punishment is another one that could be possible. It's not the longest at 671 pages (the version I looked at anyway) but it's still pretty long.
Dec 07, 2020 02:42AM

35559 I don't think I have read any on that list yet. I have most of them on my TBR list and my top 5 choices of those would be:

1. The Count of Monte Cristo
2. The Brothers Karamazov
3. Bleak House
4. The Historian
5. Anna Karenina (but I'm not sure about doing another Tolstoy so soon after the last one)

But I would join with any of them if I haven't read the book before.

35559 I'm close to finishing part 10 and should finish it tonight, which will put me at about 70% done. So I'm still on track with how I planned to finish this.

The next big question is what are we going to tackle next year?
Dec 03, 2020 01:17PM

35559 I probably have close to 100 physical books still to read and maybe another 30 I kept because I felt like I would like to re-read them one day.
I’m hoping to begin my moving process in March (Covid providing of course). Depending on the size of the books and how much I like them, maybe I’d finish 3-5 by then. But that is still a lot of books.
Luckily I don’t have to worry about moving my things quickly as they can stay at home (aka my parents house).
I should really count my books and decide if those books I’ve read are really worth me re-reading and keeping, or if I should donate them to charity. I can always get other copies of them later on.
Dec 03, 2020 12:33PM

35559 Every year I tell myself I will read at least 20 books off my physical shelf. I just counted and this year I've managed 16 and I hope to finish 3 more by the end of the year as that will finish a series too.

I dont know if I will manage that goal next year as I am planning on moving to a different country and hopefully a new job. But apart from time, I dont know if I will have access to all of my books. I haven't yet worked out if I'm going to get my stuff shipped over or just take it gradually.
Either way I have plenty of ebooks and audiobooks I can read, but it would be nice to shift some of that weight.
Dec 01, 2020 07:18AM

35559 As long as you are enjoying what you are reading, that is the main thing!

At the beginning of the year I was able to listen to audiobooks at work and then I lost my job because of the pandemic, but that meant I had lot's of free time to read and craft things. In a way I have been fortunate that my reading wasn't affected negatively this year. In fact, I got a lot of books off my TBR list that I wasn't expecting to read this year and I also read some newer books too.

But everyone's circumstances are different, so whether you meet your goal this year or not, you gave it your best shot and most importantly enjoyed what you have read.

35559 I'm about to start part 10. My Audible version is split into four more parts so if I do at least one of those parts a week then I will be done with a few days to spare.
I've also managed to get some work at one of my old jobs for a couple of months and if I'm going to be doing the same sort of work as I did before (and it sounds like that's what they want me to do) I'll be able to listen to audiobooks while I work which will help too.

35559 I reached my goal of 80 today by finishing Prince Caspian. I still hope to finish the Narnia series which is another 3 books and I'm still tackling War and Peace, otherwise I don't think I will get much more off my list by the end of the year.
Nov 10, 2020 04:19AM

35559 At the beginning of the year I started off reading it, but I quickly realised there would be no way I’d finish it as I kept forgetting to read it. I’ll admit, there are probably some details that I miss because I’m listening to it on audiobook now, but I think I am able to follow what’s happening.
I initially planned to read my kindle version while listening to the audiobook so that I could get all the details better, but unfortunately they ended up being two different translations so the wording isn’t the same.
Nov 09, 2020 12:59PM

35559 I'm now almost halfway done with this. I've put it on hold a little because I'm listening to it as an audiobook and I have two other audiobooks on the go which I want to finish as they will complete two other challenges I am doing this year. I should finish them both this week. After that, I will be solely listening to this until it is done.

35559 I just reached part 7. I hope to finish part 7 or at least be mostly done with it today.
I would like to finish this book this month so that I can use December to work on other challenges I have on the go.
Oct 26, 2020 05:28PM

35559 I've not made much progess with this challenge and removing books off my TBR lately. I've got a few challenges for this year that require me to read books that start with certain letter or the authors name starts with certain letters. I've only got the hard letter left so I've had to look for books that were not on my TBR.
On the plus side, I should finish those challenges and as I only need to finish 2 more books for this challenge, I will reach my goal here.

As I previously mentioned, I've been thinking about how I'm going to lay out this challenge next year and I think I've decided to list by year and also put how many books I have on my list for each of the years so I can see the progress that way too.
(I hope that made sense)

I've already been thinking about what it could be, although I do need to finish the one for this year.

I'm 2 away from completing my (newest) goal, which will mean I have read 80 books off my TBR list this year. I will probably finish a few more before the end of the year, but I'm not going to change my goal again as I will probably focus on trying to finish some other challenges I have on the go which will mean reading books not on my TBR.

I am also secretly planning what I will do for this challenge next year. I think I might make my list by year next time.

35559 I've been trying to listen to the audiobook when I can, but the last few weeks have been rather strange due to a sudden death in my boyfriends family.
I should have a lot more time to focus on it in November so I should still finish by the end of the year.
If I remember right I'm coming up to the end of part 5 which is about a 3rd of the way done.
Sep 26, 2020 12:27PM

35559 I'm about 17 hours into the audiobook which I think I was getting towards the end of part 5.
I haven't been able to listen for a few days as my boyfriend's family (who I'm currently staying with) got a new kitten and I've been looking after him while they've been at work or out. He's very cute.

I hope I will be able to listen to more this week. Maybe get up to part 7.
Sep 10, 2020 12:38PM

35559 I got to book 3 today and I'm trying to listen to at least an hour of the book each day so I should also finish it this year.
