35559 I feel so much better knowing it's not just me thinking about next year already!
Sep 26, 2019 04:31PM

35559 Is it bad that I am already thinking about what I'm going to do for this challenge next year? For example, this year my main focus was series. Do I do the same thing next year? or do I go by year for something different? I'm way too excited and we've still got months yet! (I think I have a problem :P)

35559 Awesome, well done Judy, must be such a relief!

I completely agree with what you said about the tangents and figuring out their connection as I feel the same way and sometimes I just want to get back to the characters, especially when the tangent comes after a really exciting bit.

I finally finished Volume 3 today and even made it as far as book 2 in Volume 4! Listening to and from work and some while at work is paying off. I have a longer shift than normal tomorrow so maybe I'll be able to listen to even more!

35559 I lied about how much it said I have left. it was closer to 30 hours. I managed to get a good hour and a half to 2 hours which was about 2 'books' worth so I am now up to Volume 3 book 8.

I'm not sure how I feel about Marius yet. I still indifferent. Maybe that will change as I get further.

35559 I finially downloaded an audiobook version. I will now listen to it when I can. It says I have over 20 hours left, but I am going away on Sunday and have a 2 and a half hour flight and then a couple of hours wait till a second flight which is only about half an hour. I should get a good chunk done that day and then the same when I come home again a few weeks later.
Hopefully that will get me caught up to where I should be.

35559 I finished book 24 Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

This means I am 1 book away from my goal! And also that means that I only have three books on my list as 'leftovers' from last year. I don't plan to have those finished, but it's good I got that list down as I will have a lot of leftovers on next year's challenge from this one because I got a bit too carried away with my list this year.
35559 So, I am very confused.
The version of this I was reading was a free version of kindle. According to that I am on chapter 26 and about 51%. Today I found a copy of the book in a charity shop and thought I would get it as I would be less likely to forget about it if it was physically staring at me.
This book only goes up to chapter 23 or as my kindle version counts it as 'the end of part one'.
So my real question is, and I dont know if anyone is still reading this, but are we including both parts in this or just part 1? If only part one then I've been finished for a good month or two...

35559 Wow, 1000 pages! I'm stuck around the 500 page mark (although I know it depends on what version you have).

I haven't read much of this at all in a while. I have an audiobook that I am about halfway through and then I will purchase a copy of this in audiobook and solely listen to that until it is finished. I have been given permission to listen to things on my phone when I am out the back alone at work and even had a conversation about listening to audiobooks with my manager, so I have begun doing that.
I know that this would probably have a crazy amount of hours left, but if I were to listen to it to and from work thats about 40-60mins and then I could get maybe 1-2 hours in at work... I'd be done in no time... right?

35559 I finished book 23!

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

I started this about a year ago and got bored with it and distracted with other books. I finally borrowed an audiobook copy from my local library app and now I have finished it! I am so relieved. Honestly I didn't enjoy it a great deal, but it's not really my favourite type of book. I am glad I finished it though.

35559 I fell a bit behind where I wanted to be and I am at the end of book 5 in Marius.

I’m considering getting a audiobook copy so I can listen to the more tedious parts. I currently have a couple of other audiobooks on loan which I want to finish first, however I will be travelling at the end of this month so I should have time at the airport and on the plane to read some of this or listen to it if I get an audiobook copy by then.

Gem Coin Q&A (60 new)
Sep 02, 2019 04:19PM

35559 Forgive me, but I tried looking on the threads and couldn't see the answer I'm looking for.

How exactly do I add the picture of the coin into a post? I earned a Amethyst coin and created at topic to display it, but I don't know how. It's the first time I've needed to do something like that.

And I'm sorry if this question has already been answered and I'm just too blind to see it.

35559 They really are.

I’m about halfway through Volume 3 and while it would be nice to finish the Volume by the end of this month, I don’t think I will do it. But if I manage another book or two, I will be happy.
I’m also looking forward to hitting that 50% mark. I’m at 46% right now.

35559 I finished book 21 from my list. A Small Part of Me by Noëlle Harrison was one of the oldest books I physically owned so I am really happy that I finally read it. Part of me is glad that I did wait to read this as I don't think my teenage self would have appreciated the book as much as my current self did.

35559 Oh yes. I just powered through that part just wanting the story to get back to Jean Valjean and Cosette.

35559 The first 2 books of Volume III were pretty short. If that keeps up then it shouldn't take long to finish the volume. Then I will either take a break and try and finish some of the other books I have started or just carry on and try and get this book finished before it's forgotten again.

35559 I just finished my 20th book The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #1) by C.S. Lewis . The book was short and fast paced. It could have easily been double if not triple the size, but I understand that it was written for children, who generally are interested in the exciting parts.

20 was my goal last year, but I exceeded that by 6. My goal this year is 25 books, but I will probably read more than that at this rate. Maybe I will reach 30!

I also realised that the list I made for this year was around 75 books, so unless I manage to get through all of them (extremely unlikely) I'm going to have a lot of leftovers on my list next year.

35559 So... I finally finished Volume II Cosette. I had hoped to finish it sooner, but oh well, nothing can be done about it now.
I am determined to finish (or at least be close to finishing) Volume III by the end of the month. I’ve been better at opening the book and reading some, even if it’s only a little bit, so hopefully I can continue doing that and get back on track for having this read by the end of the year.

I hope everyone else’s reading is going well.
