~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Hi Vz, Loved picking for you this month. Had a great time going through your shelves - I like how you order them! Anyway, I think I've come up with some good picks, but if you don't find anything - let me know and I will pick again.

From Your Pickee's TBR Cupboard:
Chocolate Raisins
Fair Game you gave 4 stars to the first 2 in the series, so I thought you might like to read the next one.
The Rose Garden you gave 5 stars to her first one and you have read others by this author, so I thought you might be ready to read this one.
Nut Clusters
The Girl Most Likely To... I've never read this author, but I liked the cover and it sounded fun!
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making I could not resist this title!
Truffles -
Too Hot To Touch this book looks really yummy!
Raziel what a great cover!
Hot Cocoa -
About That Night you seem to like this author and I like the cover. And a good romantic suspense is always nice to snuggle up with.
A Clash of Kings swords, sorcery-what could be better and it will get you ready for the new season on HBO!

From Your Pantry Shelves:
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries
The Wedding I really like Julie Garwood historical romances, they definitely give me warm fuzzies.
Seduce Me at Sunrise Lisa Kleypas, my favorite!
Chocolate Fondue

The Mane Event Sexy shifters - not much more to say.
Dark Chocolate

Chocolate Covered Ants
The Chief I noticed you didn't have any highlander books and this is one of the best.
Firelight This was a recommendation to me last month and I'm so happy to pass it on.

Buddy Reads: I will be reading these books this month for other challenges. I'm happy to do a buddy read or not. Just let me know!
From Their TBR

Hi Leslie!
Here are your recs!

From Your Pickee's TBR Cupboard:
Chocolate Raisins -
Sparks Fly by Katie MacAlister, you seem to like this author, and it’s the next one in the series with a good rating.
Nut Clusters - As You Desire by Connie Brockway, I love this book! So funny and such a sweet but clever romance.
Truffles - A Lot Like Love by Julie James, another of my favourites, in fact my favourite of all Ms. James books
Hot Cocoa - Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, I always enjoy curling up with a Phillips romance!

From Your Pantry Shelves:
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries -
The Bridal Season by Connie Brockway, this book has a mistaken identity premise and its absolutely adorable
Chocolate Fondue - Rocky Mountain Heat by Vivian Arend, this one’s a cowboy erotica, friends-to-lovers romance
Dark Chocolate - Deadly Fear by Cynthia Eden, one of my favourite romantic suspense novels about an abused profiler heroine and a really supportive hero. It's quite scary.
Chocolate Covered Ants - Try it, you might like it - And One Last Thing by Molly Harper, I noticed you haven’t read this author. It’s about a lady who exacts revenge on her cheating husband. I found it to be very funny but moralistic as the heroine learns to forgive

Buddy Reads:
From Their TBR -
Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia, I’ve heard some great stuff about this book
From Your TBR - Shattered Dreams by Lauran Landon, the premise sounds interesting with an imperfect heroine and a horse-y hero =)

The first one caught my eye at the bookstore, I want to read this one too! The second one just looks yummy!
The Pregnancy Project by Gaby Rodriguez

Lucky Charm by Carly Phillips
Babyville by Jane Green

Chocolate Fondue - The Silver Snare by Stephanie James (theres definitely some heat going on in this book :P)

Dark Chocolate - I don't really have any suspense or thriller books to recommend, I'm more of the romance reader. But as far as scary goes, I would say Skeleton Crew by Stephen King (I myself have not yet read it, but I know SK is known for his scary stories) But I can recommend a sort of mystery which is 'Blue is for Nightmares' by Laurie Faria Stolarz)

Chocolate Covered Ants - I'm recommending you a couple of authors. Danielle Steel and Fern Michaels

Buddy Reads:

From Their TBR - I immediately want to say Insurgent-but I am well aware that it's not out yet. So I would have to say Immortal in Death by J.D. Robb (I had no idea that Cat & Bones' series was still going on. I thought it ended at book 4)

Skandia (sfgirl) | 972 comments Hi Nancy,

Here are my picks for you. I hope you find something you like!

From Pickee's TBR Cupboard:

Chocolate Raisins - Can't stop at one and because they are fruit you don't have to!
Explosive Eighteen by Janet Evanovich
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen , I noticed You liked the other books by her and this is her latest book.

Nut Clusters - Select a book that looks funny.
Owls Well That Ends Well - looks like you enjoy cozy-mysteries, so this one might be both funny and cozy.

Truffles -
Hot Under Pressure

Hot Cocoa -
Summer House - good book to read while waiting for summer

From My Pantry Shelves:

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries-
Kiss an Angel by Susan Elisabeth Phillips , this book was a previous rec for me and a total surprise, I didn't expect to love it so much, but it was really sweet !

Chocolate Fondue - Suggest a book that has some heat.
Diamond Bay by Linda Howard , great suspense and some heat together.

Dark Chocolate -
Rage Of Angels by Sidney Sheldon , my favourite mystery and suspense author

Chocolate Covered Ants - Try it, you might like it
Unearthly by Cynthia Hand , I noticed you don't read YA or paranormal books much, but this book is really good even if it's not what you would normally pick up.
The Ice Princess by Camilla Lackberg - another good swedish novel

Buddy Reads:

From Their TBR
The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig

From My TBR
Anna and the French Kiss by Staphanie Perkins

I checked your shelves and you seem to lean predominantly towards paranormal YA. However, I've decided to give you a mixture of genres for your recommendations.

1. Chocolate Raisins: I see that you have the first 4 books of Frost's Nighthuntress in your favorites. Time to continue reading the series and get more Bones with This Side of the Grave.

2. Nut Clusters: It Had to Be You by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. The first chapter alone had me in stitches. It's the first book of one of my top-favorite CR series.

3. Truffles - Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini. I haven't read this book, but I find the cover very haunting and lovely.

4. Hot Cocoa - Vision in White by Nora Roberts. When it comes to romance, Nora Roberts can write them. A nice book to snuggle with, like a steaming cup of hot cocoa.

5. Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries - Virgin River by Robyn Carr. A book from our April's FEatured author. It's a sweet romance set in a remote small town.

6. Chocolate Fondue - Hotter After Midnight by Cynthia Eden. A sexy read with an alpha werewolf.

7. Dark Chocolate - Naked in Death by J.D. Robb. A futuristic police procedural with some romance thrown in. You have to meet the delicious Roarke.

8. Chocolate Covered Ants - Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh. One of my all-time favorite series.

Buddy Reads:
From your TBR: I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore
From my TBR: Angelfall by Susan Ee

Hope you find something you like.

Happy reading!

Pollyanna (polly8) | 300 comments Hey Pam here are your picks:

Chocolate Raisins:Stolen by Kelley Armstrong - you've read later ones in the series so thought you should go back to near the beginning.
Nut Clusters: Undead and Unappreciated by MaryJanice Davidson - You've read the first 2 and I thought the first one was funny.
Truffles: On the Edge by Ilona Andrews
Hot Cocoa: The Corset Diaries by Katie MacAlister - sounds like a nice fun book to settle down with.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries: Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick Got the next book and I'm going to read it soon cos I loved this book.
Chocolate fondue: Dark Lover by J.R. Ward - on your tbr, great series which I have found just gets better and better.
Dark Chocolate: The Other Daughter by Lisa Gardner I noticed you have read a book by this author already, and this one was quite hard to put down.
Chocolate Covered Ants: The Firm by John Grisham I decided to go with crime, and I think you might like this book. This is still my favourite Grisham book of the ones I have read.

Buddy Reads:

Your tbr:
Frostbite by Richelle Mead or Divergent by Veronica Roth

My Tbr: Wings by Aprilynne Pike a YA that I think we both might enjoy or My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult I think we both might enjoy this one too.

Hope you like the picks :)

I'm having problems deciding what to read. ;) It will probably be one of these: Hammered, Exclusively Yours, Promises, Simply Irresistible or Among the Living.

I'm not sure I can do a buddy read because I already have one set up this month.

message 180: by D.G. (last edited Mar 30, 2012 04:43AM) (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Hi Lady Jaye!

I'm surprised we're not friends already because we have very similar tastes and we read lots of different genres. I've gotten into fantasy a lot in the last year so I had to stop myself from recommending mostly fantasy for this as I see you like it as well.

As usual, I went overboard and gave you at least 2 picks per category but if you want more, please let me know and I can find something else. :)

FROM LJ's TBR CUPBOARD:
Chocolate Raisins (favorite series/author) - Fair Game by Patricia Briggs OR Death Masks by Jim Butcher. Both series that you've enjoyed.
Nut Clusters (funny) - The Proposition by Judith Ivory OR Hounded by Kevin Hearne. Very different books but both very funny, and two of my favorites.
Truffles (yummy covers) - Unlawful Contact by Pamela Clare OR Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione. More than the covers, I recommend these because they are very good books. UC is my favorite in the I-Team series - we gave the exact same ratings to the first two books in the series so I'm trusting you'd like this one as well. PU is the first book in the Demonica series and the best one in my opinion.
Hot Cocoa (good to snuggle) - The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss OR Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor. I wasn't sure what books to pick for this category (I read mostly in my iPad so I don't snuggle with books, LOL!) so I selected two books from your TBR that I rated 5 stars. I loved them both.

Fair Game (Alpha & Omega #3) by Patricia Briggs Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher The Proposition by Judith Ivory Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne Unlawful Contact (I-Team, #3) by Pamela Clare Pleasure Unbound (Demonica, #1) by Larissa Ione The Name of the Wind (The Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss Daughter of Smoke and Bone (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #1) by Laini Taylor

FROM MY PANTRY SHELVES
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries (sweet romance) - Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles OR As You Desire by Connie Brockway. Really sweet romances that make you sigh when you're done reading. :)
Chocolate Fondue (hot book) - Planet X by Evangeline Anderson OR Wicked Ties by Shayla Black. I'm going out on a limb as I see that you don't have that many really erotic books in your TBR but I thought I might recommend some anyway. These two would have been good choices for new genres...the first one is sci-fi erotica (yes, erotica in outer space!) and the second one is BDSM, a really good for a beginner of the sub-genre. :)
Dark Chocolate (suspense or thriller) - Cry No More by Linda Howard OR Monkeewrench by P.J. Tracy. Don't believe the title of the first book, I cried buckets and most people I know who have read it did too. It's one of the most heartwrenching romance books I've read but really good. Monkeewrench (I think the UK title is Want To Play?) is one of my favorite contemporary mysteries, with really great characters.
Chocolate Covered Ants (new author, sub-genre) The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows OR The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd OR Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I see you don't read that much historical fiction so I'm recommending two in particular that I loved, one set in WWII Britain and the second one deals with racial tension in America in the 60s. Both are really good books and not very depressing given the subject matter. And just for kicks, I also recommended RPO, one of my favorite sci-fi books of last year.

Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles As You Desire (Braxton, #1) by Connie Brockway Planet X by Evangeline Anderson Wicked Ties (Wicked Lovers, #1) by Shayla Black Cry No More by Linda Howard Monkeewrench (Monkeewrench, #1) by P.J. Tracy The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

BUDDY READS
From LJ's TBR

Chocolate Raisins - Can't stop at one and because they are fruit you don't have to! – “A Night To Surrender” by Tessa Dare – I wasn’t impress with her last works, but this series is great and you should defenitevly give it a try (I’ve seen that you’ve got all the books on your TBR)

Nut Clusters – “Manhunting” by Jennifer Crusie

Truffles – “What I Did for a Duke” by Julie Anne Long – beautiful cover and beautiful book, even if is in a series, you can read it as a stand alone book

From Your Pantry Shelves:

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries - “I’ve got your number” by Sophie Kinsella – this was sweet and so funny!

Chocolate Fondue – “Lessons From A Scarlet Lady” by Emma Wildes – it’s got a looot of heat

Dark Chocolate – “The Blue Nowhere” by Jeffery Deaver – such a good thriller, I wasn’t able to put it down

Chocolate Covered Ants - Try it, you might like it – “Daughter of Smoke and Bone” by Laini Taylor – unusual but great book

Buddy Reads:

From Their TBR – “The Book Thief” by Markus Zusak – I’m really interested in this one, or “At Your Pleasure” by Meredith Duran – it’s also on my TBR

From Your TBR - “About That Nigh” by Julie James – you’ve read the first two, so I’m sure you’ll want to read this new one coming out in a few days

Enjoy!

Anyways, I loved your recommendations! Next month is going to be very busy for me, with it being exam month at school. So I'm only going to be able to read one maybe two this month. The two I really want to try to squeeze in are probably
Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward by J.R. Ward since I have it sitting on my desk as I type this and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern since I've heard such great things about this one!

Thanks for the great recommendations!

message 200: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments Hello, Pollyanna!

I meant to post last night, but the Goodreads site kept crashing. :-( So, you have a lot of great books to choose from. If none of these hit the mark, let me know and I will be more than happy to dive in again.

From Your TBR Cupboard
Chocolate Raisins:
- Looks like you read the first book in the Outlander series a couple of years ago and gave it 5 stars, so I would highly recommend continuing with Dragonfly in Amber to see what happens to Jamie and Claire. You appear to really like Marian Keyes (so much so that I have added her to my must-read list) so try another of her books, This Charming Man. Or, return to Bon Temps and read From Dead to Worse (I am Team Eric myself!)

Nut Clusters: Boycotts & Barflies and You Slay Me both look humorous.

Truffles: The chocolates on this cover look divine, Artichoke's Heart; the cover of The Adoration of Jenna Fox really caught my eye (and the story sounds really good).

Hot Cocoa - The Mists of Avalon,The Forgotten Garden, or Sugar Daddy all seem like good snuggle-with-a- blanket-and-hot-cocoa books.

Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon This Charming Man by Marian Keyes From Dead to Worse (Sookie Stackhouse, #8) by Charlaine Harris Boycotts & Barflies by Victoria Michaels You Slay Me (Aisling Grey Guardian, #1) by Katie MacAlister Artichoke's Heart by Suzanne Supplee The Adoration of Jenna Fox (Jenna Fox Chronicles, #1) by Mary E. Pearson The Mists of Avalon (Avalon, #1) by Marion Zimmer Bradley The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton Sugar Daddy (Travises, #1) by Lisa Kleypas

From My Pantry Shelves
Chocolate Dipped Strawberries:
Mine Till Midnight and Silver Lining are very sweet and enjoyable romances.

Chocolate Fondue: Since you liked the first 3 Black Dagger Brotherhood novels, try Butch's story inLover Revealed; Pleasure Unbound is a steamy tale involving demons who run a hospital.

Dark Chocolate: If you like scary, you can't go wrong with Stephen King's Carrie; The Witching Hour is Anne Rice's multi-generational tale of a family of witches; The Passage is a post-apocalyptic saga about virus-induced vampires; The Girl Who Played With Fire continues Lisbeth Salander's story (I liked this one better than the first)

Chocolate Covered Ants: Here are four books by some of my favorite authors: The Tea Rose,
The Bronze Horseman,
A Game of Thrones,
