Lisarenee | 7659 comments I'm guessing you like Terry Pratchett? I keep seeing his books everywhere.

message 7: by Denae (new)

Denae (whimsicalmeerkat) I do, although I've not read all of the ones on this list. My boyfriend gave me a couple of his books for Christmas & I've been hooked since. They're really good to mix in with some of the heavier material I'm reading.

message 8: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Thanks. I'll try to pick one up. Right now I've reached the limit of holds I can have at my library. A pretty common occurrence for me.

How many holds is the max? Ours is 20 regular books plus 10 ebooks. (My husband lets me use his account so I can request double that.)

message 10: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments It's 20 holds and 50 checked out. I'm at both limits.*blush*

Since I use my husband's account too I can take out 100 books and make 40 holds. Our library counts ebooks separately, so I can check out another 35 ebooks on my account. I've actually had 100 books checked out at once, well, a lot. I usually have at least 90 (real) books checked out at once. (Plus a few ebooks)

message 12: by Jex (new)

Jex (jexball) | 2227 comments Wow. I thought I checked out a lot of books but you guys....wow. I'm sad that my library has yet to figure out how to make their ebooks compatible with the kindle. You'd think that would be one of the first, but no. Now I'm tempted to go make myself hit the limit of books just to say I've done it =P

It's Amazon that won't make the Kindle compatible with the software that most libraries use for ebooks (Adobe Digital Editions). Doesn't make sense as you can read a PDF on a Kindle, right? It's just an economic thing most likely- they don't want to make it easier to do something that will cost them money. After all, if you can borrow a book, why buy it? Amazon has been saying that they plan to make the Kindle compatible with ADE, but they've been saying that for quite a while and it's really just a simple software upgrade.
