15.6 - ONE-HIT WONDERS
One-hit Wonder Day is Sept. 25 – Read a book that was the only book of its type by the author (a foray into science fiction by a mystery writer, an adult book by someone who normally writes children's books, a fiction book by someone whose other books are nonfiction, etc.), or the only book the author has published to date.
I read Ford County by John Grisham. His only book of short stories

25.3 Daylight Savings -
A) historical fiction novel: Black Hills
C) a short book (100-300 pages): The Guinea Pig Diaries
More detail:
25.3 Daylight Savings : Choose two books from the following options:
A) Since we'll be "falling back" with our clocks, fall back in time and read a historical fiction novel or a nonfiction book about a historical time period before you were born.
I read: Black Hills (2010) by Dan Simmons (Hardcover, 487 pages) The historical time frame was split between 1876 (the events surrounding Custer's Last Stand at the Battle of Little Big Horn), and 1936 (the events surrounding the construction of Mount Rushmore), plus a few times in between. I was born after 1936.
C) Since the days will be shorter, read a short book (100-300 pages). REQUIRED: If you choose option C, include in your post the number of pages in your book.
I read: The Guinea Pig Diaries (2009) by A.J. Jacobs (Hardcover, 256 pages) A collection of real-life experiments (one example: He goes to the Academy Awards disguised as a movie star to understand the strange and warping effects of fame.) that the author originally wrote for the magazine Esquire.
The 256 pagecount fits the task's requirements.
95 + 25 = 120

5.6 - she's a beauty - The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen (Goodreads author)

----
5.7 - born 11/11/22 - Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Kurt Vonnegut was a bizarre man. I will definitely read more of his work.
----
5.9 - comfort read - In the Company of Cheerful Ladies by Alexander McCall Smith (Goodreads Author)
I read the first two of this series and thought they were alright. And then I picked up the third, fourth and fifth on audiobook and fell head over heels in love. This is the sixth in this series and just like the others it was so enjoyable. The narrator, Lisette Lecat, is fantastic. Highly, highly recommend to audio fans--especially nice for those of us who are listening along with little ears, because Mma. Ramotswe and company are such gentle spirits (even though we find out that she has quite a skeleton in the closet in this installment--how scandalous!)
----
5.10 - name that car - Succubus on Top by Richelle Mead
I've never actually been a "name that car" person but I have been the unfortunate owner of some vehicles that would have been aptly named had I decided to call them Succubus.
----
10.3 - freedom - Persepolis 1: The Story of a Childhood by Marjane Satrapi
My first graphic novel and I'm not sure what I was expecting, but this wasn't it! I am now motivated to check out some others.
----
10.7 - city lights - Persepolis 2:The Story of a Return by Marjane Satrapi
Persepolis was an ancient city that is located approximately 70 km northeast of the modern city of Shiraz, Iran.
----
15.10 - second chances - Unclean Spirits by M.L.N. Hanover and Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin (Goodreads author)
The other task my first book fits is "the first estate" as one of the main characters is a Jesuit priest.
The second book was nominated as a group read but was not selected. It wasn't what I was expecting and it took me a bit to get into it, but towards the end I couldn't put it down.
----
25.4 - tv programs - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling and Four to Score by Janet Evanovich
I rolled a 4 and a 5 so I re-read a book with a paranormal character (Voldemort, returned from the dead) and a book with a number in the title (so funny! I can't wait to read more from this series).

I read Deadly Game by Christine Feehan. This book centers on the insane, brilliant mind of a scientist who purposely injected pheramones into certain couples to ensure they would be attracted to each other for breeding purposes. There is already one couple that were initially attracted to each other because of this, and they are now trying to keep her pregnancy a secret from the madman, and her and her unborn baby out of his hands.
