Book 2 of Michelle Rowen's Bitten and Smitten series. Somewhat uneven, but there were some lol moments. Hubby and cat were sitting on the sofa shaking their heads at me when I giggled. Now, to just decide what to read next. I'm putting off
for the time being, since I'm not sure I can take waiting forever for the next book in the series. I really HATE these cliffhanger endings. :o(

I am failing miserably. I fell and hurt myself. I gave up on my Sookie books for now and I am rereading New Moon on my Kindle. I can read that one handed and I don't have to hold the book open. I hurt my left arm, shoulder and side so Kindle wins for now. I am going to read some of the others on my list after I am done with New Moon. But New Moon is comfort for me and I need that right now.

Martina's TBR Clean-Up Challenge - 6/9 COMPLETEDJust finished Prince of Magic (★★★★) by Linda Winstead Jones. It's listed as the first book in the Children of the Sun trilogy, but since this trilogy is a continuation of the Fyne Witches trilogy, it's almost the fourth book in the series instead. I read & enjoyed the Fyne Witches trilogy in 2006 and enjoyed it enough that I bought Prince of Magic in early 2007, but that's around the time I moved into vampire/werewolf PNR and Prince of Magic has been sitting on my TBR shelf since then.
The book begins about 25 years after Fyne Witch series ends, with Ariana the eldest daughter of the Sun Witch - a healer and a witch in her own right. Ariana is court healer for a dying king and suddenly finds herself thrown into the center of a war based on a prophecy brought to the king's attention by Sian Chamblyn, a powerful enchanter.
I give the book 4 stars based on the complexity of the world Winstead has created, the depth to which I find myself caring about both Ariana & Sian, as well as the outcome of the story. There's good character development, too. It's a little disappointing that the story doesn't quite wrap up at the end as it's continued in the second (fifth?) book in the series, The Fire King, which is why it got four instead of five stars.

6/9 read I started Demon's Kiss, but could not stand the author's writing style, so I gave up. I crossed it off my list, but did not add it to my total books read.
I think I'll probably start Eve of Darkness next. Although I just got Nalini Singh's new one from the library (and I didn't have it on my list because I thought there was no way I would get it in December!), so I'll probably read that first before I have to return it.

It was the 4th Harper Connelly book. I will admit--the ending WAS a bit of a surprise. A good solid read, and I think its the one I like the best of this series.

Charmed was okay. Gave it 3 stars rather than 2 because I enjoyed both Jayne Castle's Bridal Jitters and Lori Foster's Tangled Dreams. Julie Beard's Man in the Mirror reminded me of Melanie George's Lady in the Locket story in the anthology, A Very Gothic Christmas.
