Congrats, Jen!

I think we're not giving this post its due attention because here we have a DOG THAT CAN READ.

Awesome Jen! Which one was the magical 100?

not only that, she could use a computer too.

If you're on the computer, it's top right, below the picture. It's a little trickier on the phone, I usually go through the actual mobile site rather than the app if I need to do anything other than update my reading.

Haha! No pressure. I probably (definitely) won't ever get there! We set goals for how many we're going to read each year in our reading challenge thread. Some people try to read the entire bookshelf...we cheer them on as they go. If that sounds fun to you, good luck, and God speed!

Glad of that I'll look the list over and see what all is on there., As we do have the list coming up for which we just voted on. And when that one comes out I'm going to try to at least get through that one. That will probably be a miracle in itself. Especially since my main genere is mainly Fantasy fiction.

The Group Bookshelf is all the books that have been voted or selected to be our monthly reads. There's no obligation to read them all. Trust me, some of them aren't worth reading.

I was just looking over the titles of the books and some just by the titles I doubt I'd read. There are some that look like I may have them on my Amazon Wishlist But as I'm looking for something to read I'll look the list over and add them to the list. But I don't that I'd ever read 100 of them. LOL

That list is group exclusive, you would have to open up the book itself for it to show up in your TBR list.
Try right clicking on the title and open in new tab to do that.
Hope that helps.

That explains allot to me. I always wonder how some of the books end up on the shelves.

yep, I would not have picked that particular Cherryh book or the one by Adrian Tchaikovsky (his Shadows of the Apt series is awesome) and where's Andre Norton, P.C. Hodgell, Jeff Slayard, Elizabeth Haydon and Tad Williams?
When nominations open up, you should recommend things that fit the theme! In fact, you should go petition to have something like "classics" added to the theme list!
In the meantime, I shall stay on this thread's topic, which is how many of the club books have been read. I am at 53, up from 35 in June, and a couple left planned for the year! At this rate, I'll catch up with Hank by 2030, and Kim by...2045? Ish? I think my real play there is just to wait for Kim to be called back to his planet, and then declare myself victorious in his absence. :)

And Tad Williams I read the Dragon Bone Chair Series and really liked, but haven't been able to sink my teeth in anything else by him.
I will have to look at the others and see what they have to offer and take a gander at it. Always like getting new stuff to look over.
thx

How many have they read? I've read 86 of them with a quick look at the list
ETA: I've had a lot of years to read them as I'm over 60, though
Last I heard, Hank was at 200 and Kim had read all of them? that is what memory supplies at least. And we had a few people hit 100 this year!

Pfft. Come talk to me when you hit 200! lol
John, Fahrenheit 451 is definitely in English :-)
Welcome Nicholas, hope you find things you enjoy! And good job Maxine, keep truckin'!

Australia's not a planet, silly.
Jeez louise, what are they teaching you kids these days?
Besides, he's a robot, not an alien.

Excuse me, I studied immigration law. When people come to the US from other places, they're called "resident aliens." As we all know, aliens come from outer space. Ipso facto, Kim's from outer space.
I am okay with him being a robot alien, though, that sounds great.

This might not be for this thread, but were there any books on the list that were generally panned by the group? Just seeing if there are any I should avoid. Conversely were there any out and out smash hits that I should be reading this instant?
Hey Christopher! Well done, I hope you get your 100!
That's a great question. I don't think I know anything off hand that everyone agreed on. I'm'a start a thread.
So I did.

Allison ok your telling me that this is English

it's the link from the book list. If the blurb is English then I speak Ancient Mandarin Chinese.

I see how that there works. But what don't make no sense is the fact that every book on the list is in English all 200 plus except for 1. And yes I went through everyone of them to see what I wanted to read. Of course When I looked it up on Amazon and was able to read the blurb in English I'll probably pass on the book.
Thanks for the relply about it though it just struck me odd that just the one was in Spanish.

As for books panned by the group the only real stinker that leaps to mind is Doctor Who: The Coming of the Terraphiles by Michael Moorcock.
I Lemmed it after the first couple of chapters. Who'd of thought Moorcock could produce such rubbish, hope the paycheck was worth it.

Hey! We don't use that kind of language around here! Looks like S&L is leaking.
Richard wrote: "Who'd of thought Moorcock could produce such rubbish, hope the paycheck was worth it."
I have to believe that's what it was and the book was just something he'd half written but never bothered to finish but then that sweet tie-in money meant a couple of quick name changes and done. It was so bad.

Wait Australia isn't a planet? Why to kill my dreams. I was sure it had to be another planet, after all AC/DC sure seem to be aliens to me.

It is too bad goodreads doesn't have the capabililty to show the average rating of a book just by members of a group. That would have a huge impact on my choices of book.
Kim's planet already called him back, he just isn't listening.

I agree with you on the goodreads and capability to show the average rating by members. There are some books for which I doubt that I will read but things may change.
