Bring it on :D

message 453: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 106 comments I just recounted mine. 184 with 2 more to be added without any further effort in November (as I have already all likely winners of the polls).

BOOM! Coralie brought a rocket launcher to a gun fight! Supe and General gonna take that sitting?

Edit to add: this is all incredible, you folks are committed to the cause!

Have I ever told you that you're my hero?

message 456: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments No kidding! That's awesome, Coralie :)

message 457: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 106 comments To be fair, I have been reading science fiction for about fifty years and had read many of them before joining this group. It does help to have a head start.

message 458: by Trike (new)

Trike Coralie doesn't believe in the no-win scenario.

message 459: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments I'm still waiting for someone to catch up to me.

This thread is suddenly a masterclass in escalation.

message 461: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Kim, I'm totally going to surpass you. I'm going to read all of the books on the bookshelf plus one more. That works, right?

message 462: by Melanie, the neutral party (new)

Melanie | 1620 comments Mod
@all the achievers...you could send your way through all the buddy/extra reads to determine ultimate domain ace....not sure why I'm prompting completion though since I personally like having a contact list of books to choose from that are most likely good reads.

message 463: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Kim will always be king. I don't know if anyone else who's planning to read the entire shelf.

Kim may be king but I will still bow to Zod if he gets ahead ;)

Kim | 1499 comments Sarah Anne wrote: "Kim, I'm totally going to surpass you. I'm going to read all of the books on the bookshelf plus one more. That works, right?"

That's why I try and read all the runner-ups :P

message 465: by Sarah (last edited Oct 14, 2016 08:14AM) (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Okay, you win. Sigh. Now it's not even worth trying to read everything.

*sniff sniff*

Kim | 1499 comments Sarah Anne wrote: "Okay, you win. Sigh. Now it's not even worth trying to read everything.

Aww, no it's more reason to read all the books!

message 467: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I don't know, there's definitely some crap on there. Doctor Who? I've seen how much you loved that one.

message 468: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (darthval) | 781 comments I plan to join you in reading them all.

Although, my mind just might blow a fuse at the thought of going back and reading all of the runner ups.

message 469: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments I'm not sure if there's a definitive "B-List" of the runner ups but I'd be curious to see how many I've crossed off. It's what I normally read if I've already read the winner.

message 470: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (darthval) | 781 comments I may have to add a new tab to my spreadsheet. #dorklife

message 471: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Poor Valerie :p

message 472: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments A lot of runner-ups have come back to win at a later time. I might have time to pull a list together later if no one else does it first.

message 473: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments That would be pretty cool. :)

Trike Sarah Anne wrote: "Kim will always be king. I don't know if anyone else who's planning to read the entire shelf.

Is it suddenly hot in here?

message 475: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments I pulled the data and I've only read 28 out of 88 unique runner-ups that haven't become monthly reads. I've actually started a thread with more data here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

message 476: by Silvana (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2799 comments 66 out of 219. Not going to force it but I'll be glad if could get to 100 in...maybe three years.

message 477: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (ladycello) Congrats to all those in the "Over-100" crowd! :)

This year I've managed to get myself up to a current total of 49, and am currently reading 50/51. I was hoping to do more, but the summer got busy and I got off track, so now I'm furiously trying to catch up, which is being made easier by audio books.

message 478: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments Awesome everyone from 10-219. I don't have aspirations to follow Kim and Valerie, I am shooting for 90%, hopefully will get there sometime in January.

message 479: by YouKneeK (new)

YouKneeK | 1412 comments I just finished my 52nd book from the group shelf earlier today.

I’m not likely to ever catch up with all the books, though. I normally only average about a book a week. I’ve had more reading time this year so I’m a little bit ahead of that average, but we add 24 books to the shelf per year, not everything I read is on the shelf, and series books will always set me back since I prefer to read a series all at once if I’m enjoying it. The group shelf has a lot of books that stand alone or are the first book in a short series, but it also has things like Discworld. :) 17 of the books I’ve read this year have been from Discworld, interspersed with other things because not even I can read a 40+ book series all in one shot without burning out.

But I love the group shelf. It gives me a good variety of books to choose from in my two favorite genres. I added most of them to my eReaderIQ watch list, with the exception of books that are part of a series that’s still being written. Whenever those books go on sale for $3 or less, I grab them and add them to my TBR list. I also really enjoy going back and reading the old group discussions after I’ve finished reading a book.

message 480: by Trike (new)

Trike I just completed #12 of 12 books for my club read challenge this year. Some of those were accidental, but it's nice to actually achieve a goal for once.

message 481: by Silvana (last edited Nov 08, 2016 08:11AM) (new)

Silvana (silvaubrey) | 2799 comments Finished 15 from my 12 (!) target this year. Maybe next year I should increase my target after two years of 12.

And since we did discuss female authors in another thread, might be useful to set up a female author challenge next year.

message 482: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments Nice job ;)

message 483: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (quiltsrme) | 39 comments I've read 29/221 since joining Goodreads, but there's another 15 books on the list that I read before joining Goodreads.

message 484: by David (new)

David Holmes | 481 comments It looks like I've read 37/223. or 16.6%. I thought that was pretty good when I was counting it, but it looks like that's peanuts compared to some of you here!

Then again, I only joined last month, so the only book I read for this club is Pawn of Prophecy.

message 485: by Lizzy (new)

Lizzy I recently joined and have apparently read 31 of the groups’ books.

message 486: by Lioth (new)

Lioth | 29 comments End of year update:65 out of 225
Slow but steady.

message 487: by Hank (new)

Hank (hankenstein) | 1231 comments I will finish with 193/225 was hoping to hit the 200 mark but too many other books stole my attention.

Monica (monicae) | 512 comments Hank wrote: "I will finish with 193/225 was hoping to hit the 200 mark but too many other books stole my attention."

Great job Hank!! No shame in that number. I thought I'd hit 50 but I'm at 47/225. Been slowing way down on my scifi lately, but what I've read this year (for the most part) was excellent!

message 489: by Karen (new)

Karen (librarykatz) | 262 comments I went from 29 up to 46 this year. Not too shabby.

T. K. Elliott (Tiffany) (t_k_elliott) I've read 37 - but there are several more on the list that I'm intending to read. Could be worse...

message 491: by Melanie, the neutral party (new)

Melanie | 1620 comments Mod
I'm up to 63. I also own 40 some titles I haven't read yet, so that should keep me reading for the next year.

message 492: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 3915 comments I'm at 163. I was really trying to break 150 this year so I'm pleased with this.

message 493: by Chris (new)

Chris | 1130 comments I have read 87 out 225 (38.7%). I read 35 new-to-me this year as well as 4 rereads.

message 494: by S.K. (new)

S.K. Inkslinger | 4 comments I'm only starting ahah. As of currently I have read the Kingkiller Chronicles, up to the second books of the Mistborn series, and the Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings.

message 495: by HeyT (new)

HeyT | 506 comments I think I'm currently at around 72 titles from the shelf.

message 496: by Marc-André (new)

Marc-André 31 that I read before I knew about this group or its shelf. I should be adding at least 6 this year.

message 497: by Andy (new)

Andy | 3 comments Hi new here , only just joined , seems I have only read 16 of the club books , however I noted that often they were book one of a set of books that I have read every book in lol

message 498: by Ellen (last edited Jan 04, 2017 04:29AM) (new)

Ellen | 871 comments I'm up to 48 now. I've read 27 since joining the group in August.

message 499: by Bill (new)

Bill | 197 comments Up to 103 out of 225(45.7%). Not too bad.

message 500: by Rob (new)

Rob (robzak) | 876 comments 93/225 (41.3%) mostly by coincidence since I don't really have time to read along with you guys.

There are several others on the list that I own and haven't read yet and even more that I don't own on my TBR list.
