message 51: by Michael (new)

Michael (fisher_of_men) I've read 15 of the books of the list. Another three, I started and quit because they didn't hold my interest. And there's about a dozen on my to-read list.

message 52: by Neil (new)

Neil | 9 comments I've only read 23 of the books on the list (if I counted correctly!), but there are so many classic books there, that this list is a real inspiration on what to try to read :)

message 53: by Diane (new)

Diane | 42 comments 66 :)

message 54: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Cardin | 12 comments Only 40 for me.

message 55: by Gwen Morris (new)

Gwen Morris | 1 comments I'm currently at 9 some from before I joined others from after. I have many of the books in my to-read section though.

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

I am at 23 and would like to read more but I have 78 unread books on my kindle right now !!

message 57: by Rey (new)

Rey More' | 9 comments 56. The list is a good one for suggestions as I came upon a bunch of books that I have scanned over and not read. Maybe this will be the impetus to actually read them.

message 58: by Adam (new)

Adam (adammannan) | 38 comments Thanks for posting the list, Penny.

This is a good list, I've read a 129 of these, or rather 118 as eleven of them I didn't finish.

Reflecting, it's pretty obvious where my budget goes and why I have even less time than no time.

Liz | 179 comments Chris wrote: "Looks like I've read 74 of them, though a lot of those were before I joined, or after the group read."

Same here, although my number is 62.

message 60: by Todd (last edited Apr 09, 2013 02:18PM) (new)

Todd | 36 comments My number is a pathetic 25 - I've got a lot of catching up to do me thinks.

message 61: by Riona (new)

Riona (rionafaith) | 83 comments I've read 43, but very few of those were actually with the group.

message 62: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 748 comments Not to worry Todd, my number is more pathetic :) I'm making a concerted effort to climb up to 50 by the end of the year.

Kim | 1499 comments Penny wrote: "Not to worry Todd, my number is more pathetic :) I'm making a concerted effort to climb up to 50 by the end of the year."

You can do it :)

message 64: by Dale (new)

Dale (leadsinger) | 57 comments 33 is my count.

message 65: by Adam (new)

Adam (adammannan) | 38 comments Not a mater of catching up, it's about enjoying yourself. Some people have more time than others, or read faster, or read more books that happen to be on the list.

One of my profs told me I should read as much as I could before I write. They weren't talking about fiction, but I took the lesson to heart. I've encountered people on Goodreads who have read less than me, but have awesome points of view that I greatly respect. Numbers are irrelevant it's the pleasure which counts!

I agree, but it is nice to have goals in life, especially when they're a bit challenging. There are way too many classics that I haven't read yet and I can't nominate them because the group has already read them. I do take your point though which is why I'll say that I'm not reading to get to a number, I'm reading for my own enjoyment :)

message 68: by David (new)

David (waelse1) Just 13 so far, 3 in progress (Black Prism is really good but long).

message 69: by KristenR (new)

KristenR (klrenn) | 124 comments I've read 64 of group reads. I didn't think I had read that many since I haven't been following along as much as I used to. While I haven't read all of them at the same time as everyone else, most of them were because they were a group read - and looking at the list I see a bunch that I want to go pick up :)

message 70: by Ami (new)

Ami (aimdoggg) | 184 comments I'm at 99. I used to participate in discussions a lot more, but now I mostly just read the books. Maybe I'll finish out the list.

message 71: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 748 comments I'm up to 22. The last two books I read from the club bookshelf were Dune and The Dispossessed which both jumped into my Top 10 Favourite Books of All Time list. There are some fantastic books here!

message 72: by Greg (new)

Greg Strandberg (gregstrandberg) | 0 comments I've read 29. Not as many as I thought I would have had. I think I've owned about 60 on the list, however, which only goes to show how many times I've moved and had to ditch books.

message 73: by Pixelina (new)

Pixelina | 64 comments only 28 whole books and then a few I dipped into, but a lot of them are on my to-read list. I have missed a lot of the 'classics' I also find myself more interested in the sci-fi books for now while I used to only read fantasy before. (influenced by my brother who only reads fantasy still) I am really gonna sink my teeth into more Ursula K LeGuin and Iain Banks this summer.

message 74: by Gordon (new)

Gordon Brewer (gordonbrewer) | 2 comments Only 5 for me. I'm a slacker I guess.

message 75: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Hallowell | 33 comments I've read 41 of these, most before joining. I'm realizing that I need to go through and add and rate a bunch of things for my "read" shelf.

message 76: by Dima (new)

Dima (d1ma) | 8 comments 37 from the list for me. Which is more than I thought considering that I couldn't manage to read a single book with the group :) And I've been a member since 2008.

message 77: by Traves (new)

Traves Strehle | 6 comments I just joined the group a few weeks ago, but I have read 2 books with the group and 10 off of the list total.

message 78: by Greg (new)

Greg Only 23/135 for me, most before I joined GR back in 2010. I have the majority on my to read shelf, along with many I'm planning on re-reading since joining.

message 79: by Margit (new)

Margit (seitherin) | 12 comments I've read 59 of them so far.

message 80: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey | 204 comments I have read 70 of the 139. I would say most were before the group read them, but there are a few I want to read. I find it hard to keep up with group reads in all of the groups as I read other genres as well.

message 81: by Paul (new)

Paul Martin | 4 comments Seventeen so far.

message 82: by Bob (new)

Bob (shack) 37 so far but many are on my to read list!

message 83: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 748 comments Woo hoo, I just hit 26 so I'm just over the half way mark for my challenge to read 50 books on our bookshelf by the end of the year :)

A great place to track your progress is on our listopia list which you can vote on here.

message 84: by Deeptanshu (new)

Deeptanshu | 21 comments I would say that i have read around 25 to 30 of the books on the group shelf.
I promise I get around to reading the others soon, unfortunately I have a tendency to read each and every book ever written by an author that I like and this has kind of prevented me from being form diverse in my reading habits.

There are actually about 140 books on our shelf :) You probably just looked at the fist page. A good place to look at the complete list is on the listopia list here

message 90: by [deleted user] (new)

I've read 21 of those books to completion, plus a few others that I started but quit on. I'm reading Perdido Street Station now and expect to finish soon, so that will be one more. There are definitely a bunch on that shelf that are on my to-read list though, so I expect that number to keep climbing. You people certainly know what I like!

I'm at 22 read within the last 20 years, probably another 20 before that and good handful experienced only as adaptations for screen. I'm looking forward to reading with the group, perhaps next month.

Ack, my bad! I was having a dumb moment, I read 25 of 30 when that's not what you wrote! Thanks for being nice in your reply :) I'm on 27 - we're not all like Kim who is insanely well read :P

Heidi - you should join us this month! Both of this months choices are nice and little and they're classics :)

Andy - I agree! It's so annoying trying to nominate books every month because all the best ones are already on the bookshelf!

message 93: by Hillary (new)

Hillary Major | 127 comments I'm up to 46 counting Black Company (read it awhile ago) and Caves of Steel (read it Sunday, practically in one sitting).

message 94: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 106 comments I'm now up to 85 including Caves of Steel which I have read at least twice, but not counting The Black company which I am still reading.

message 96: by Dale (new)

message 97: by Penny (new)

Penny (penne) | 748 comments I'm on 29 now and I'm currently reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? which will round me up to an even 30! Only 111 to go after this one :P

We've just updated the listopia list for the group bookshelf. This list represents our "read" bookshelf which you can also find here. This is a fixed list that grows by two books every month. Please don't add books to the list! Kim and I will take care of updating the list every month. Thanks! :)

The listopia list is an easy way to count how many of the books on our shelf you've read (if it's below 100).
