You're safe. Not only have I not been reading much, I just boxed up all of my books and I'm sending them to Valerie.

Someone who doesn't use Kindle for their books and still buy the book itself. I like my Kindle for th convenience factor as I can have several books on hand at the same time.

That said, I'm reading another, have one more at home to read this month. Plus there are some on there I started and disliked so much or enough that I am never planning to read them. So many books, so little time. I do sometimes read books I don't like for some reading games and challenges, but try to keep that to a minimum. Plus, scifi isn't the only thing I read (and I'm sure I'm not the only one here like that :) ).

I've read some on the list will have to go back over and check it again. But like you there are some for which I read many many years ago. I'm the Opposite of you whereas I tend to read mainly Fantasy Fiction as opposed to the science fiction; it bores me and just doesn't keep my interest very long.

I liked Fantasy more when I was a child and a teen, but have lost interest in it--I know people who have continued to enjoyit. To me it became rather generic in that it seems to require certain kinds of characters (elves, etc) and I would think fantasy ought to be able to go in many directions. Plus, tastes just change, and mine have, even in science fiction.

there is, in fact, different types of fantasy it's not all about elves and such. Jeff Wheelers Kingfountain series had none of that. But yet it's a good series. You might want to check out that seires. Another thing about his series is theres not allot of magic in it either.

Correct! I sometimes read Terry Pratchett which is fantasy. I might try Kingfountain. I loved all that sort of stuff when I was younger, as I said.

Shoeless Joe (aka Field of Dreams), The Wind in the Willows, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (aka Willy Wonka), American Gods, Dracula, The Golem and the Jinni,Carrie, On Stranger Tides, Glimpses, The Killing Moon, Watership Down, The Savage Tales of Solomon Kane, Alif the Unseen... that's a sampling off the top of my head that is incredibly diverse. Not an elf in sight.

Woot! Grats to the people who hit triple digits and to those just starting the journey! Rock on!

(bows head in shame)"
Actually there is usually a fair bit of jealousy for those who haven't read tons of them. The magic of reading many of these for the first time is hard to re-create. Good hunting for the good ones!
Mike and Jen, we will see you when the calendar flips! Have great holidays!

Now I'm at 51, and just about to finish two more (Doomsday Book and Starship Troopers which will both probably earn 3 star ratings) which will put me at 53.
These are the club books I've read in the last 19 months:
- American Gods - 4 stars
- Anansi Boys - 4 stars
- Annihilation - 4 stars
- Brave New World (re-read) - 4 stars
- The City & the City - 4 stars
- The Colour of Magic (re-read) - 4 stars
- Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (re-read) - 4 stars
- A Fire Upon the Deep - 3 stars
- Foreigner - 2 stars
- Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch - 2 stars
- The Gunslinger - 2 stars
- The Handmaid's Tale - 4 stars
- The Library at Mount Char - 5 stars
- Lock In - 3 stars
- The Moon is a Harsh Mistress - 3 stars
- Redshirts - 2 stars
- The Rook - 1 star (actually didn't finish it but I got as far as I will ever get)
- Slaughterhouse-Five - 4 stars
- The Speed of Dark - 4 stars
- The Stars Are Legion - 1 star
- The Stars My Destination (re-read) - 5 stars
- Ubik (finished re-read that was in process during my May 30. 2016 post) - 4 stars
I've just started Uprooted and I like it although there's too much "trembling and gasping under the burning touch of his fingers." (If it gets to "throbbing" or "moist" I'm gonna bounce.) I also just started Dragonflight and I'm about to start Altered Carbon.

I've read 30 this year! Putting me at a whopping 55 I think. Kim and Hank (and just about everyone else, I think) are safe from my puny attempts at surpassing them. I've really enjoyed the ones I read this year, though.
5 Star reads:
The Night Circus
A Wizard of Earthsea
Deathless
I guess I really, really like unique prose and ethereal settings.
4 Star Reads:
Arcadia
The Obelisk Gate
War for the Oaks
The Sparrow
Station Eleven
Too Like the Lightning (this will probably go up on re-read)
The Goblin Emperor
Spin
The Girl with All the Gifts
The Handmaid's Tale (another one that likely should have gotten a 5)
Only 1 DNF - Hounded. I couldn't suspend my disbelief and I hated the main character. I imagine how I feel about Atticus is how a lot of people feel about Kvothe.

But on a happier note, I don't think a single one that I've read is below 3 stars!

Thank goodness, most are on my TBR already. o_O

3 years and 3 months later I'm up to 76/213. Some I've read with the club, some I'd previously read and the club added them.
Currently (1-4-17) I'm at 83/225, or just under 37%."
Today on 1-1-18 I’m at 112/249, or 45%. Progress!
2012: 33%
2015: 35%
2016: 37%
2017: 45%

Now I will have to admit I did set a goal of 50 books this year. And if any of you others have said a goal to read a certain amount of books of 40 or higher for the year lets see who makes it.

Sounds good and there are a lot of fantasy books that I like and plan on getting into and reading that is on my TBR. Many are on my Tablet already. Just have to start reading them.

I've read 43/249 of the group books so far. I'm hoping to catch up with the Read All the Books challenge!
I’m up to 85.
Currently I have 42 I own but haven’t read yet and 20ish available through Kindle unlimited....so I’ll read them all eventually, right?

Wow! Congrats to everyone in triple digits! Good luck to everyone making progress! You're doing great!

It hasn't even been a week yet and you've already read 40 books? You must be a speed reader.

Good morning and thanks for the list first off. Now I see from that list I've read one in 2017 that was on the list, and that was probably by blind luck. Now there are several for which I've got listed as books I want to read on the list So more and likely this year they will get read at one point or another.
A lot that is on the list I doubt I'll read as they are books that don't interest me at all.

For me there's a link at the bottom of the list that says "Get Results & Compare With Friends", and when clicking on that is says how many out of the top 100 I've read.

That does and doesn't work - it shows books on my Goodreads account, but it doesn't show all the books I've read prior to Goodreads

True :) You do need to mark it in GR for the site to count it. But it's a good way to while the time when you're in a waiting room or waiting for a friend to show up somewhere.
