message 752: by Erica (new)

Erica (tempestpanda) | 5 comments Only read 1 this year which was my first book by Octavia Butler. Hope to try better next year.

message 753: by Julia (new)

Julia | 957 comments 9 more of them this year, but some were rereads.

message 754: by Ryan (new)

Ryan (jabhwakins) | 1 comments Read 15 of the 2018 group reads, making sure to hit at least one every month. That gets me up to 36 off the bookshelf. With many, many already on the TBR pile so we'll see how much ground I make up this year.

message 755: by Joon (new)

Joon (everythingbeeps) | 512 comments Looks like overall I've read 52 from the bookshelf, most of them YEARS ago. Quite a few more are somewhere on my TBR list, though I probably won't pick up much ground this year as some of the 12 I've chosen will be re-reads.

Wow, quite the list! Happy I have read some, but happier that I don't recognize many on there.

I have read 11 titles on this list.
Oryx and Crake is on my to-do list
However, I am plodding through The Wheel of Time right now (along with all the shorts) and that is my only Fantasy / Sci-fi allowance. And I am on book 4 lol. Might squeeze a couple in on a break from the series.

Haha that's the problem with reading door stops, John, is that they're so satisfying, but they eat up so much book time! I hope you're enjoying it though :) All the other books will be waiting when you need!

message 758: by Leah (new)

Leah | 35 comments Of the 275 books currently on the bookshelf I've only read 21 with maybe another 30 or so on my TBR at the moment. Looks like I have some serious catching up to do. :)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
Woohoo! So many great things to look forward to! Our re-reads are great ways to catch up, and we will be voting on the next schedule soon? Now? Anna, I've muddled up my timeline again.

message 760: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments Haha, yes we're currently voting for rereads! More info here.

message 761: by Leah (new)

Leah | 35 comments Ah, ok, thanks for the clarification! I didn't get the first time I read through that thread what the re-reads voting was about. Excellent.

Yeah, we're a large machine, what with the monthly group reads, monthly re-reads, unofficial buddy reads and now the short fiction club. Hopefully everyone finds at least one place and style of discussion that works for them :)

Trike Trike wrote: "Trike wrote: "Trike wrote: "45/133 with Hyperion being one I abandoned. By the side of the road. After punching it in the nuts."

3 years and 3 months later I'm up to 76/213. Some I've read with the club, some I'd previously read and the club added them.

Currently (1-4-17) I'm at 83/225, or just under 37%."

Today on 1-1-18 I’m at 112/249, or 45%. Progress!

1-25-19 I’m at 125 (synchronicity!) of 275, or 45.4545%. Heh.

If I can double the number of books I read this year to 25, I might hit 50% by this time next year. That’s the holy grail percentage for me, since I’m never going to read some of the books on the shelf.

2012: 33%
2015: 35%
2016: 37%
2017: 45%
2018: 45%

Well done Trike! I agree, I'm not aiming for all, but I feel like I should be in the triple digits. My cred is seriously lacking. 50% sounds great.

CBRetriever | 6141 comments Trike, what's your second number? Books unread or books owned?

ETA: Never mind, I missed the thread title :(

message 766: by HeyT (new)

HeyT | 506 comments I added a column of check boxes on my copy of the bookshelf spreadsheet and the formula says I've read 109 now.

Niiiiice!

message 768: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments Nice, Trike! I aim to get into triple digits this year. 3 more books to 100.

message 769: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
Oh man. So, like, you'll be in the triples Monday, Soo?

message 770: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments Nope! I'm looking at planned reads & plugging my ears going "Nah nyah nah nyah nah" right now. I did a bunch of them and need a few days of reading whatever I want. So somewhat random picks that may correlate with the SFFBC List or not.

I figure I'll hit 100 in March. Yay goals!

Woohoo!!

message 772: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 693 comments after last years re-reads, I am up to having read 176. I have been in this group for about 8 years though, so I should be up there.

message 773: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments That's awesome, Maggie! =)

Now the tough love question: Did you like most of them?

message 774: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 693 comments oooohhh I know there were some zingers in there, but I believe I liked most of them. If I wasnt interested I didnt read it! Im a gonna go count.....

message 775: by Maggie (new)

Maggie K | 693 comments ok, there were 12 I didnt care for, which out of 176 is fantastic!
On the other hand, I have 22 5 stars on our shelf--so the odds were definitely always good

message 776: by Soo (new)

Soo (silverlyn) | 1007 comments Yay! That does sound great.

message 777: by Jim (new)

Jim Gorman | 33 comments I am creating a new shelf so I can keep track of the total number of books from the bookshelf I have read, as well as the challenge each year.

message 778: by Jim (new)

Jim Gorman | 33 comments OK, just updated my organizing and I have only read 57 of the books, I better get reading!!

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
Lots of fun ahead of you!!

message 780: by Μιχάλης (new)

Μιχάλης (nihilio) Nice to meet you all. I am at 53, with plenty more in my TR pile.

message 781: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
Welcome, Μιχάλης! That's a pretty great start! Hope you find some gems in the TBR pile, too!

message 782: by Μιχάλης (new)

Μιχάλης (nihilio) Oh, I have found plenty.

message 783: by DivaDiane (new)

DivaDiane SM | 3683 comments I'm kind of surprised and glad that I've read 68 of the books on the Club Books list already. But that's only about a fifth and seeing the list makes me realized how many I would actually like to read.

There are 23 books from the list that I already own, so I suppose I should make them my priority, huh?

message 784: by Nanu (new)

Nanu | 40 comments I am so dissapointed, I have only read 21/273, good thing is, like a hundred of those are on my TBR, I gotta get reading.

message 785: by Coralie (new)

Coralie | 106 comments I just rechecked how I was going and discovered that I passed the 250 mark earlier this month! I don't think I will ever read all of them including the two I gave up on but I now have just 25 unread.

message 786: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
Holy smokes! Congrats!!

Teacher’s pet. Grr grr.

message 788: by Trike (new)

Trike I think I’ve added either 13 or 14 in the past month, which is waaay ahead of schedule. Short audiobooks for the win! I might be able to hit 25 from the shelf this year.

message 789: by Kim (new)

Kim | 1499 comments I have some reading to do, only at 260.

message 790: by Anna (new)

Anna (vegfic) | 10435 comments You should give up Kim, you're way too far behind to ever catch up!

But I already have them on my Kindle!

message 792: by Jen (new)

Jen (jenthebest) | 522 comments I'm at 138, just about half

message 793: by Mark (new)

Mark Mitchell | 5 comments 23 so far. First thing this group has shown me is how much other people read, and how much I've got to catch up on. Its easy to get the impression you read more than you do when you read the most of any of your friends and family. Thought I was a big fish in fantasy reading, turns out I've just been in small pond before...

message 794: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
Great job, Jen!

Mark, ain't that the truth! Here I was, thinking that always having a book on hand made me very bookish, when GR showed me that people are reading a book every three days!

Well, I can't keep up with that, but isn't it wonderful to know there are so many great books out there waiting for you to find them? I'm mod and I still haven't read even most of our books yet--I like to hang onto them for when I'm not sure what I want to read next. Our shelf is really great for discovery!

message 795: by CBRetriever (new)

CBRetriever | 6141 comments Latest count =

94 read
28 TBR
7 that I won't read

message 796: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod
Almost in the triple digits! Nice!!

message 797: by Melani (new)

Melani | 146 comments So it looks like I've read 102 so far. Of the remainder there are about a dozen or so that I'm never going to read, and others I've never heard of, so that's a pretty good mix

message 798: by Allison, Fairy Mod-mother (new)

Allison Hurd | 14234 comments Mod

LOL! I SO know that feeling. Everytime I go "yeah! I've read another one from the bookshelf" and then start counting again it is like a cold shower … "well ….'only' 219 more to go" ^^'

message 800: by Doubledf99.99 (new)

Doubledf99.99 | 136 comments I've read a paltry 26 books from the list.
