Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

I've started noticing on tv sitcoms that you rarely see a book. The only apartment I can think of where books are actually on display is John Becker's apartment in Becker. He's got stacks and stacks of books hiding his fireplace from view. lol Only one book was ever mentioned in Friends, and that was a steamy romance novel hidden under a pillow that was accidently found.

@Briansgirl: Friends had another episode where Joey and Rachel swapped books to read. He read Little Women and she read The Shining. Then when he found out one of the sisters died he had to stick the book in the fridge. One of my favorite episodes. ;p

I'd forgotten about that episode.

I'm in. I'll fill in the books as I go.

You're not alone. I was born in 1967 so I got alot of books to read for this one too. Some of the older years are harder to fill.

OMG,Dina I'm sweating this one. I don't think they even published books in 1962. I think everything was written on stone tablets back then. Anyone know where I can find some stone tablets? LOL

Yeah, I stand corrected. I thought this challenge would be a piece of cake but I can't find "old" books - that I want to read, that is - to fill in. This is one of those times where I wish I was younger, LOL.

Not sure if it's okay to "butt in" since I'm not doing the challenge: But here are some suggestions of historical romance novels written in earlier years by Georgette Hyer:

Hmm, Woodiwiss's TFATF is a classic, no doubt about it. Many of my GR friends here gave it 4 or 5 stars, but I'm guessing they read it many years ago. I enjoyed bodice-ripper romances when I was younger - yes, I'm guilty as charged, LOL - but I wonder if I could set my mind back to that time and enjoy this kind of book again.

For now, I'm staying with Heyer's Lady of Quality as my 1972 read. But I have 2 years to complete this challenge, so I may change my mind later. We shall see...
