Aisha There's some pretty darn good books on this list and it's really hard to find a good one with this subject.

Thanks for making it!

Resident Optimist I was really interested in this subject when I'd read Stolen for the first time, so needless to say, it was my duty :D

I got into it after reading The Collector, it's a very interesting subject that isn't used much.

Yeah that's what I think too, I was surprised that there were more books of the same genre, I started looking for them after I read Stolen which was quite good

I loved Stolen because it had a realness to it that most YA don't, you know? and the way Lucy wrote about the outback was rather entertaining as well.

Resident Optimist Yeah, and I loved the whole forced love kinda thing, It seemed like a whole new outtake on stockholm syndrome, a lot of the time, I felt sorry for Tyler even though I knew he was the bad guy

Resident Optimist lol!

message 9: by Kristi (new)

Kristi I nearly fell off my chair when I found this list.
I feel like I've hit the jack pot! Even though a number of the ones I'm really interested in aren't at my library, I'm so happy to know they're out there.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this list! I've been scouring the internet for a good list of book containing Stockholm/kidnapping in them, this is the first I've found! So excited :D

Resident Optimist Haha :D Glad you liked it!

message 11: by ❋ Sylvia ❋ (new)

❋ Sylvia ❋ I know kidnapped is a touchy subject but was thrilled to see this in the lists. thanks for posting :D
Also A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith Mcnaught is also in this genre but not on the list :D

Resident Optimist ^_^ yw!

You can add it if you like? :)

message 13: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I'm a sicko and I love kidnapping books! LOL For some reason they are just so great to me! Ever since I read Stolen I've been wanting to read more! Glad I found this I'm definitely going to add a few to my TBR list

message 14: by Emily (new)

Emily Thank you! This is going to help me a lot!

Me too!

message 16: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I just read Held by Edeet Ravel and it is seriously perfect for Stolen A Letter to My Captor by Lucy Christopher fans!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads There's one I remember reading and enjoying as an adolescent, but cannot remember the name of for the life of me. Have to keep thinking.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Just thought of it - it was Through a Brief Darkness.

message 19: by Jessica (new)

Jessica I think my new goal is to find a good Captive/Kidnapping/Stockholm Syndrome book that a) isn't young adult and b)isn't vampire related. I'm so hesitant to read anything labeled young adult because it can't be as "adult" and raw as I'd imagine I want it to be. You can't have that dark sexual tension that might be appropriate in some adult novels. If I'm wrong about that I'd love a suggestion.

Perhaps The Collector by John Fowles?

Room by Emma Donoghue is also pretty powerful - it doesn't have a Stockholm Syndrome related plot though.

message 21: by Jessica (new)

Jessica Yeah, the Collecor is my favorite book OF. ALL. TIME. I've never found another abduction/captivity book that ever came close. :)

message 22: by Karin (last edited Jul 15, 2012 08:40AM) (new)

Karin Müller Persephone This one is really good!! For fans of Stolen: A Letter to My Captor

message 23: by Donna (new)

Donna I'm reading Room at the moment and read Still Missing before hand, both brilliant books!!
Never used to be interested in this genre but in the last few weeks I cant seem to get enough....

message 24: by Jessica (new)

Jessica I'm really hesitant to read Room, if only because i can't believe a realistic novel could be narrated by a five year old kid. Unless I'm understanding the premise incorrectly.

message 25: by Kirstin (new)

Kirstin I looked through this entire list and I still could not find a book I read awhile back. I can't remember the name or author. It's about a boy whose sister was murdered and, upset, spontaneously kidnaps a girl walking by out of spitful revenge and anger. He justified it as she was wearing "slutty" clothing when his good girl sister was always modest. Therefore life is unfair yada yada. He keeps her in I believe a basement overnight in which he calms down from his tantrum and the two actually bond with each other. I want to say his mother is an alcholic or on drugs from the grief of losing the daughter. Anyway does this sound familiar to anyone? Did I possibly miss it in the list somewhere?

I've never heard of it but I'd really like to know the name now! Sounds like a great book!

message 27: by Kirstin (new)

Kirstin Yeah it's bugging me that I can't remember lol

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Have you asked at the What's the Name of this Book? group?

Resident Optimist Kirstin wrote: "Yeah it's bugging me that I can't remember lol"

http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/185

Try posting it there ^ :)

message 30: by Jewels (new)

Jewels Looking for a book which i swore was on this list...can't remember the name, but the plot was something like this:
**woman fantasizes about beimg abducted. Then her partner sets up a fake abduction scenerio...in which she really does get abducted by a tow truck driver.***

anyone know the title???

message 31: by Yuliya (new)

Yuliya Jessica wrote: "I'm really hesitant to read Room, if only because i can't believe a realistic novel could be narrated by a five year old kid. Unless I'm understanding the premise incorrectly."

Actually, it very good book (Room)

message 32: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Okay, who put Green Eggs and Ham on this list?

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Y'all want me to remove it?

message 34: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I don't really care either way, but it caught my eye as I was reading the titles...we've got a practical joker (or three) here!

Resident Optimist Hahaha! Ahh I didn't even spot that! I'll take that out asap, trouble is, I have no idea how. Any takers who are willing to educate me? :)

message 36: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Your guess is as good as mine :D

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads You need a GR Librarian. I'll get it.

Resident Optimist Thank you :D

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads No problem.

The first part almost sounds like The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B Cooney...no rape or doctor, though. I recommend even if it isn't the book you're looking for!
