I will try again this year too, especially as my TBR list grew a lot.
I did better in 2021 in this challenge than I did in 2020 but I still didn't hit the 30. Maybe this year.
I start the year with 995 books on my TBR. I will aim for 30 again, but I will list 50 as I found I don't stick to the strict list, so maybe I will hit the goal if I have a few extra options.

In previous years, I successfully managed to get my TBR to shrink. However, last year I found a website that emails me with book deals on Amazon and my TBR list is now constantly growing. But I still managed to get 71 books off.
I am starting this year with 1,012 books on my TBR. I'm not sure what this will be like for me so I will start the year with a target of 50 book.
Last year I focused more on the years that I added books and cleared off the remaining from 2017. The other years have a minimum of 30 books year so this year I will focus more on getting as many from 2012 read as well as trying to read some of the books that have been on my Kindle for a long time.
*Goal raised to 70 on 2nd August.

Thank you all. I got some good book recommendations and because of your encouragement, I was able to get some of those long books of my TBR list!
I hope to team up with you again in future challenges!

M - my family cat hates the sound of carrier bags, but will go and sit on one if it happens to be on the floor.
To the team, I feel like I need to apologise in advance. I'm not sure how much I am going to finish this round. I returned to the UK today and dragged my boyfriend along with me (you have no idea how much more stressful he made it) and while I am, of course, happy he is with me I don't think I'm going to have much time to do what I want which will include reading. We have a lot to do with seeing people for birthdays and stuff and when we do have time to ourselves, he will probably want to watch things together as he doesn't have much else to do.
I will do my best to find time to read what I said I would, but this is my advance warning and apology if I don't manage to finish them.

Others that are on my TBR (and I think haven't been mentioned yet) are Under the Dome, The Arabian Nights, The Mists of Avalon and The Way of Kings.
Those are the ones I have left over 1,000 pages. I managed to tackle a couple of others on my own this year so there is a chance I have recently read whatever is chosen. But if it is something I haven't read, regardless of if it is on my TBR, I will join in.

10. Don is the one who ask for a divorce. What do you think of the requirements he put on the settlement?
It was not surprising given his character and the time period.
11. Do you think Monique’s negotiation with her boss and Evelyn were realistic? Do you think she is growing as a person from the interview process?
She is definitely being influenced by Evelyn.
12. What is your first impression of Max? Does that change throughout the session?
I can't say that he left much of an impression on me.
13. What do you think of the Evelyn and Mick plan and her reasons’ for carrying it out?
It seemed a little selfish, but kept the suspicions of her and Celia at bay. Evelyn seems to do what she feels like she has to do, whether she likes it or not.
14. What do you think of Celia reaction? Does it seem realistic to you that she didn’t think they would sleep together?
I think it was a bit of an overreaction, but she was obviously hurt. It's painful when the person you love sleeps with someone else, no matter the reason or circumstances.

6. How do you think Evelyn handled her relationship with the abusive Don?
It seems as though she hoped things would get better and that she knew if she left him or tried to make the abuse public, then it could damage her career.
7. How believable do you feel the progression of the friendship to romance between Evelyn and Celia is, especially bearing in mind the time period?
It did seem rather quick, however it seems like Evelyn didn't really have many actual friends at the time so maybe she just latched onto the first person she felt somewhat comfortable with.
8. Do you think the author got the old Hollywood vibe right?
I can't claim to be an expert on old Hollywood so I'm not sure how to comment. It seems kind of what I expected though.
9. What do you think of Evelyn’s plan to fake a miscarriage in order to gain sympathy instead of getting bad press? How does it make you feel about her character?
It almost felt like proctection for herself than anything else. While faking a miscarriage is terrible, maybe she feared what Don would do to her more with the bad press about her unwillingness to give him children.

I told her she could keep the bag for now while the laundry is washing. The oldest cat was just watching her like she was jealous she didn't come up with the idea to go in the bag first.
I have a spare one of the bags so I might let them have one if they like it that much.

1. Chapter 1 starts with a news clipping and ends with a blog post and chat. What do you think of this nontraditional style? Were you surprised that it didn't continue through the next 7 chapters?
I assumed it was a sort of introduction so I didn't expect the style to continue.
2. Monique Grant is a little known writer. Evelyn has chosen her to write her biography for a reason. Any thoughts to why? Is is just her style? Age? Or do you think it is ore personal?
She claimed it was her style but I feel like there may be a more personal reason.
3. Evelyn's quote "The world doesn't give you things, you take things" really struck me. How does this phrase resonate with you?
This seemed more accurate back then and can still be true now, but nowadays it's more about who you know. The quote is still relevent because if you work hard enough to get a good social group, you can essentially take what you want.
4. Evelyn learned early on about how to use her looks and sex to get what she wanted. She seems to see it as taking what she wanted and doesn't regret her life decisions. Especially in the back drop of the Me too movement, how do you feel about Evelyn and her decisions so far?
To be honest, it sounds pretty standard for how a lot of celebrities get noticed if they don't come from well known or well off families. It's a sad truth and I hope that it changes/ has begun to change.
5. Do you like the back and forth between Monique/now and Evelyn's back story?
I've read this sort of style a few times before so it doesn't seem unusual to me. Sometimes it's nice to get the reaction to the story being told, but sometimes you just want to hear more of the actual story.
