35559 I started watching North and South years ago with my mum but she found it boring. I meant to finish it but never did! I hope it's still on Netflix.

p.s. I only wanted to watch it because Richard Armitage was in it :P

35559 I'm the opposite right now. February was a slump for me, but I've managed to really pick back up in March.

I'v read 4 books off my TBR recently and 2 or 3 more will probably get done this week. They are mostly classics, but that means I'm getting those oldest ones off.

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen Gulliver's Travels Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World. by Jonathan Swift North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell all decent reads but out of the three Gulliver was my favourite. I prefer books with some action in them.

Cats (Usborne Spotters Guide) by Howard Loxton probably one of the books I have owned the longest, but didn't make it to my shelf on here until last year when I went through and added the missing ones. It was just a book about different cat breeds, but it was written in the 80s so is probably outdated by now. It's time for it to find a new home.

35559 I'm ahead at the moment, but I am planning on reading some of those longer books on my TBR which will take longer.

I also finished a couple of books that I added in 2012 recently meaning I have exactly 100 of those left. I'm going to try my best to get the number down to 80 or even lower by the end of this year.

35559 I thought it was okay. Not the best classic book I've read, but was worth the read. I was shocked by the description of the abuse Jane suffered at the beginning of the book which I've not really seen in books from around that time period, especially those written by women.
I also feel like I missed some details as I listened to it as an audiobook and mostly while I was at work and I had lots of distractions so had to keep pausing it. Maybe I will re-read it in a few years.

35559 I finished #11 and 12 over the past 2 days.
#11 was Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, #2) by Lewis Carroll which I didn't think was as good as the first and neither of them were that appealing to me. Maybe I should have read them when I was younger. Oh well.

#12 was Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë and was the oldest book on still on my TBR!
I still have 2 more books added the same day which I am determined to read this year too and I currently still have 102 books I added in 2012 that I am now adament about getting as many of those read as I can this year.

35559 I finished books 9 and 10 today.

Beowulf by Unknown I added in 2016. It wasn't really my style.

What Katy Did at School by Susan Coolidge Added in 2020 after I finished the first book. I think the first one was better.

35559 I listen to audiobooks books more now and I haven't really bought any physical books in a few years. I've been trying to get through the ones I have as I am trying to move abroad and books are heavy. Now I only keep books that I really really enjoyed and would want to read again.
But if I do buy books, they are usually from a charity shop or an event where they are selling used books pretty cheap. I very rarely buy any new. My library app is really good so they will usually have an audiobook or ebook version of fairly new books if something comes out that I just can't wait to read.

But in regards to this challenge, I will be starting the oldest book currently on my TBR list tomorrow!
35559 I still haven't started this yet. I've kinda been putting it off until Uno starts, so that if I end up binging the whole lot I can use it for Uno.

But I am looking forward to starting it as you all seem to be enjoying it and finding it rather readable. I might start it sometime in the week.

35559 Yes, I am very impatient now too. After Beowulf, I don't really have any short audiobooks to listen to at work tomorrow so I may have to find something on my library app or on audible to keep me going until Uno starts.
I don't really read much manga now as I haven't really got a good source for acquiring it and I used to read some before bed, but now I'm working full time again I fall asleep pretty much instantly.

35559 I finished #8 on Friday. Heidi by Johanna Spyri which was another book off of my 2012 list.

I started Beowulf by Unknown on friday and should finish it tomorrow, but turns out I had the wrong version added (the second book this year that I've had that problem), but I will still count it.

I've been trying to get shorter books read before UNO starts, so from next week I should start getting some of those longer older books done.

35559 Of the well known ones, I think I still have Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility left.

I think I get a little nostalgic with Jane Austen because I lived in Bath while I was at uni so I know some of the places she wrote about. I enjoyed my time there and if things had turned out differently, I would have liked to have stayed there.

35559 I would say it is my favourite so far. I haven't read all of her book yet, but I did really enjoy Northanger Abbey.

35559 I finished two more recently taking me up to 7 so far. Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen was added in 2018 and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass by Lewis Carroll technically on my TBR since 2013, but it turns out I had the wrong version added. A retelling from a different author. I'm still counting it though because I meant for it to be the original version.

35559 I got two more finished today. The Atlantis Complex (Artemis Fowl #7) by Eoin Colfer which was on my list since 2012 and The Thirty-Nine Steps by John Buchan which was on here listed as 2015, but I think I had it for longer.
35559 Don’t Tell Teacher by Suzy K. Quinn 384 pages
A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens 489 pages
Persuasion by Jane Austen 249 pages

Current Total: 68,127

35559 So, turns out I own or have access to almost all of the books from 2012. I only deleted 3. I did read A Tale of Two Cities and Persuasion over the last couple of days which were both from 2012. That only leave 105 left to get through...
Jan 14, 2022 03:05PM

35559 I've decided I'm going to do my best to get all those books I added on my TBR in 2012 off the list this year. I believe there are currently around 110 on there. Later, I am going to go through and delete any that I don't have access to and I'm not interested enough to buy a copy. Hopefully that will get that number down and then I can read the rest (or try to) over the year.
I'll update with how many I delete.
