On Good Masters! Sweet Ladies! Voices from a Medieval Village and its 96 pages, I'm going to defer to Kristen... I was looking at the other editions, hoping to find one with more pages, but the only other had 85, so that doesn't help you. I would be inclined to say that it has to be 100, because the next person will want to include a 92 page book, then an 87 page book, etc. Maybe that's just the mom in me that says firm boundaries are a must... :) Anyone else that wants to weigh in on this, feel free.

Lydia, other teacher or librarian recommendations count for 5.25. Most of us are too old to remember what was suggested in high school!

Okay Ladies,When we made up this challenge, we forgot to include a section for the ever-important Banned Books Week, which is September 24th-October 2nd... So, we are adding a bonus section called "Banned Books". Below are several links to banned books. You will get 5 points for every book you read and discuss off of any of these lists. There is no limit. The book could have been read any time during the July-September challenge period, as long as you haven't claimed it in a different area of the challenge.

This book should not have won any award, much less the coveted Newbery. It may well be the most boring book EVER. That said, my 6 year old said she liked it, but then, it did take over a month to read it to her because she kept falling asleep after 5 minutes...

I go to Decatur Book Festival every year. Myra was there this year. I just love doing the blog. Most people I know don't care to hear me ramble about books. It gives me an outlet... :)
Neat! That sounds like a great thing to be able to do. I'd love to have a little more freedom and time to do something like that.

Banned Book: ttyl by Lauren MyracleI've been meaning to read this for a long time, since it's often at the top of banned book lists. It was okay. I'm not sure I would've bothered to finish it if I wasn't going to get points for it. :-} I can see where parents get all riled up about the book since it has a lot of "bad" language and some mature themes that some parents are convinced their precious babies will never otherwise encounter.

This may have made a SLJ list, but it wasn't a starred review. All SLJ starred reviews say "starred review" at the beginning. Sorry. This doesn't fit that part of the challenge. It's on the 9th grade reading list at my daughter's school, so you could use it for that, or make it fit elsewhere? Let me know where you put it.
