I'm finishing up a YA novel (I haven't sold this one yet, so I don't know if it will ever see the light of day, but I hope so) and then I feel like I want to go back to adult fiction. I'm also waiting to hear about another adult project that's being sent out now, but it makes me nervous to talk about it. :)(less)

Then write every day and lose yourself in the act of writing without worrying about the future of what you write--when you have something you like, you can send it out and hope for the best. Do you want to be famous? That's definitely a longshot for any writer (I've been doing this for almost two decades and I'm still not famous.) It's going to be tough to stay motivated if that's your goal. But I'm guessing it's more that you love to read and to write so just do what you love to do and don't worry about whether or not it will sell. Just enjoy being creative. And don't read anything about the industry or about how many books are out there--it'll just make you crazy. This is about you and only you and being creative. Good luck!(less)

Couldn't put this book down. There aren't many books I can say that about these days. There was maybe a touch more torture in it than I might normally want in a book, but I did feel even the torture made sense in the grand scheme of how the plot all ...more

Someone gave me this and I ignored it for a long time, thinking I'd find it unbearably twee and saccharine. But I finally picked it up--and it's actually a really fun, smart read. Great anecdotes. Camuti is quite a character.

I was going to give this a five-star review . . . and then I got to the last third, which I just didn't like as much as the first two-thirds. So I ended up with 4 stars. There's so much that's wonderful here, but it does run out of steam a bit, when ...more
