That book came about after I had a dream about a girl whose boyfriend died, but he loved her so much, he didn't want to leave her. I woke up with this strong sense of love, and I went to the computer and started writing it right away. I knew it wasn't going to be a particularly scary story, although Jackson is a bit creepy at times because being a ghost isn't easy for him, but more of a story about love and loss, healing and hope. And that's what it became. I'm thrilled so many people have enjoyed it and been touched by it. Thanks again! Lisa(less)

A milestone - 20th published book

If you had asked me back in 2002 when I started seriously writing and submitting to agents and publishers if I thought it was possible for me to publish 20 books for kids and teens, I probably would have thought it was completely impossible.

But nothing's impossible. And tomorrow my 20th published book is officially released by Scholastic.

Hi Marcelina, I'm so glad you enjoyed the books, thank you for letting me know! It's hard to say who is my favorite, they all become kind of like my kids and I love them all. But Isabel is the one who started it all so I'd probably go with her. Thank See Full Answer

“Was it hard?" I ask.
Letting go?"

Not as hard as holding on to something that wasn't real.”
Lisa Schroeder

“Come with me,' Mom says.
To the library.
Books and summertime
go together.”
Lisa Schroeder, I Heart You, You Haunt Me

“When you meet someone so different from yourself, in a good way, you don't even have to kiss to have fireworks go off. It's like fireworks in your heart all the time. I always wondered, do opposites really attract? Now I know for sure they do. I'd grown up going to the library as often as most people go to the grocery store. Jackson didn't need to read about exciting people or places. He went out and found them, or created excitement himself if there wasn't any to be found. The things I like are pretty simple. Burning CDs around themes, like Songs to Get You Groove On and Tunes to Fix a Broken Heart; watching movies; baking cookies; and swimming. It's like I was a salad with a light vinaigrette, and Jackson was a platter of seafood Cajun pasta. Alone, we were good. Together, we were fantastic.”

“The main thing is to WRITE. Some days it might be 2000 words. Some days you might tinker with two sentences until you get them just right. Both days belong in the writing life. Some days you may watch a ‘Doctor Who’ marathon or become immersed in a book that is so good you can’t stop reading. Some days you may be in love or in mourning. Those days belong in the writing life, too. Live them without guilt.”

Daniel Hey I don't know if you would read this but I'm trying to get more readers for my blog. I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out. It's not necessarily on books. It has books but it also has other random things. stop by and show some support! :D

if you don't like it, don't worry. Hardly anyone does.

I will be sure to tell her! ^-^ She'll really appreciate it; she's in love with your writing. I'll have to buy more copies of your books and give them away as gifts; they seem to go over well within my clan of friends! :D

Well, you're very welcome, I guess. I'm actually kind of surprised that you responded to my little comment, so THANK YOU! ^-^ I love to write, (I mostly write poems and short stories) but after reading your book, I've started to write my own verse novel. It's not even near being done, but thank you for giving me the inspiration. ^-^ I appreciate it.

I have a thing for A and C names too, don't worry. In my stories, I have Audrey and Coryne, Cassie and Aria, Cestral and Ariana, Celeste and Aurelia, but my favourites of mine are Calliel and Anneleigh from a novel I'm writing called Come Find Me, and Celyn and Astara from a short story I wrote called Breathed Infinity, both of which are posted on my Booksie profile. I just love A & C names!!! They just go together so well!!!! ^-^

I can't wait for your next book, seriously. I have nothing to do but reread your previous books! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply; it means a lot to me. ^-^

Lisa Awww, will you tell your friend THANK YOU from me? Give her a big hug and tell her I love, love, LOVE that she gave you my books as a gift.

And thank YOU Courtney for reading and writing to me. I'm so glad you enjoyed them. I think you are REALLY going to like the next book, THE DAY BEFORE. :)

I don't know why, but I do have a thing for A names. And did you see in the next book, there is an Amber and a Cade?? Another A & C combination. WOW!!!

Courtney My friend gave me I Heart You, You Haunt Me and Far From You for Christmas because she said they were her favourite books ever, and I loved them! ^-^ I love the way it's written in verse. :P I just love it. I have this thing for sad stories with happy endings, and I can't wait for your next book! I'm so excited. :D

And this might be random, but I'm huge on character names and all, and I noticed that in both books, your main characters name starts with an A (Ava and Alice) and her best friends name starts with a C (Calli and Claire), and it kind of gave me chills, because my name is Courtney, and my best friends name is Anelise (but I call her Annie ^-^). It actually kind of made my day amazing. ^-^

I love your writing, and I hope you continue for many years! I love reading your books! :D
