Hi Charlotte. Decisions, decisions...wow, it's really hard to make a choice here! I think I will go with Soulless...or maybe Storm Front...well, maybe Welcome to Temptation...

I'll just see which one I can get my hands on first. Thanks for the recommendations!

Angelique Anderson | 182 comments Hi Allison,

1) Undead and Unwed - Since you love Katie MacAlister, I think you'll really enjoy this series.

2) Born of Night - I'm not usually into futuristic novels or science fiction, but I picked this one up for a challenge and fell in love with it!

3) Dead Girls Are Easy - This is another great paranormal romance that incorporates humor.

4) Tempting the Beast - I love Lora Leigh! And the breeds series is one of my favorite. But if you don't like erotica or alpha males this might not be the pick for you.

5) Confessions of a Vampire's Girlfriend - Like you I love Katie MacAlister, and I've been dying to get my hands on this one.

6) Need - I know you're not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but every time I see this one I just want to read it.

Ann (annabell123) Lindsey - I hope you can find something you'd like!

Your TBR
Maybe This Time - I absolutely loved this book. This is one you will not be able to put down.

Undead and Unemployed - I have not actually read this one, but I have read the first one and have heard great things about this book also.

New to You
The Forgotten Garden - This one is quite different from what I see on your lists, but it is an awesome book. This is one I couldn't put down.

True Colors - This one is also quite different from what was on your lists, but this one is a great book about sisters.

From My TBR

Extraordinary - I am waiting on this one from the library. I have not read any books about faeries, but I am really looking forward to this one.

Murder at Mansfield Park - I'm not actually sure if I will like this book, but I have it from the library now and it sounds like a great book.

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Paige!
I'm going to preface this by saying I'm sorry! Our tastes in books are so very different that I had a really difficult time finding books that I thought you would like. There's only one book on your TBR that I've read and it happens to be one of my favorites, so I'm only going to give one in that category. Then there's my TBR... It's loaded with highly sexed up books and it looks like you read and enjoy mostly YA, so I don't want to be the one to lead you down the dark path. Therefore, I'll pick Totally New for You (out of your comfort zone) and New for You (along your preferences)
Here we go....

TBR
Halfway to the Grave

New to You (in your comfort zone)
Magic Bites - From my TBR that looks very interesting.
Blood and Chocolate - If you've seen the movie erase it from you're mind because it's nothing like it.
Eragon - One of my all time favs

Totally New to You (out of comfort zone)
Beauty: A Retelling of the Story of Beauty and the Beast - This is a YA from my TBR that I'd really like to read.
Lord of the Fading Lands - Fantasy romance that's a true series. If you read the first you won't get to the conclusion 'til the last book.
Soulless - Yes it's historical, but it's also PNR and funny.

I hope you're able to find something on this list to your liking. If you'd like to venture down the "dark path", just let me know and I'll give you two other books to choose from.
Have Fun!

Hi Fran
Thanks for the recs, they're all great! I've narrowed down my choices two: He Loves Lucy and Houston, We Have A Problem. I will most likely go with He Loves Lucy because I just found it and put it on my TBR and it looks really, really cute. I'll keep you posted.

Ari (moochew12) | 159 comments Howdy Again Pollyanna! xD. I remember I recently recommended for you before. Guess I’m just your designated recommender for now.

1. Outlander I was recommended this book several times from different people in this challenge. Finally I checked it out! And now I am on book 2. Claire and Jamie are such lovely characters. If you want time travel, romance, and bits of history then this may be your choice for the month.
2. Night –if you are in for a more historical read then you may want to give this one a try.
3. Stargirl- there’s always a time you want to read something quick, light, and enjoyable.
4. Shade- sounds very similar to the ideals of the women of the otherworld series.
5. I Never Promised You a Rose Garden- something about this title makes you like idk think outside of your realm of thinking or something. Just sounds so tempting of a read! I’ll have to get to it myself sometime.
6. Room – I wonder when this ended up on my list!=O Seems really eerie, a five year old? Huh.
7. Trying to think of some crazy book to add as a bonus. When and if I can/think of one I'll add it here!

Ok these seem very like “thinky”, so if they are all blah... (Ok, maybe not all of them = “think” but you know)..anyway if you want me to find some other reads I’d be happy too. Happy reading and November!

Sue (knitwitsl) | 226 comments Elizabeth,

You have a smaller TBR pile like I do, but there were at least four on your list that I have read and would recommend! That said, here are my recommendations for this month:

From your TBR list
One for the Money by Janet Evanovich - I really enjoy the series. Most times I found myself laughing out loud!
Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner - I read this one a while ago, but I really enjoyed the characters and story.

New to you
Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie - Jennifer Crusie is one of my favorite authors. Again, I like the characters and the story of this book.
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen - This story starts with a man looking back at his life. It's quite interesting.

From my TBR pile
Covet by J.R. Ward - I've heard really good things about this book.
Choke by Chuck Palahniuk - This was recommended to me by my 22 year old daughter. She said it was an oddly good book!

I hope one of these recommendations will work for you!

The Princess Bride Love this book, this is one of my favorite books. There is so much more than is in the movie and a true delight.
The Other Boleyn Girl This is a wonderful book that really delves in to the history of Henry and Mary and how she was used as a pawn to get power for the Boleyn's highly recommend.

New to Them
The Alienist by Caleb Carr Spectacular book with an engaging mystery. One of my favorites.
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier One of my favorite mysteries with the girl with no name.

Sue, just looking, but I believe you are picking for Nicole and Elizabeth is picking for you. The only reason I mention this is that I already posted picks for Elizabeth. What's funny is that three of our picks are the same (that should certainly tell her that she should read those books).

Tania | 644 comments Hi Carolyn F.

Here are your picks...

From Your TBR
1. Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
Probably my favourite JC book. I love this heroine - what can I say her obsession with shoes and donuts is something I relate to :)
2. Dark Celebration by Christine Feehan
You haven't ranked many of your CF Dark series reads so this pick is a bit of a shot in the dark but it introduced one of my favourite characters in it - Dimitri and I loved going back to visit with the other characters. It also brings home how much the community has changed and grown since the first book. As a side note I actually read this book for the first time on the overnight train from Bangkok to Chang Mai

and I'm throwing in a third because I just LOVED the title...
3. The Nymphos of Rocky Flats by Mario Acevedo

Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie Dark Celebration (Carpathians, #17) by Christine Feehan The Nymphos of Rocky Flats (Felix Gomez, #1) by Mario Acevedo

New To You
This was actually a hard one to do - mainly because we seem to have very similar tastes in authors and you have such an extensive TBR list.
1. The Chosen Sin by Anya Bast
I really enjoyed this book even though at one point I did want to reach in an hit the heroine. It's vampire with a little sci-fi thrown in
2. The Reluctant Dom by Tymber Dalton
This is an amazing book about an unconventional journey. But as always when I recommend this book please have a look and read other reviews first to make sure you are comfortable with the subject matter. Oh, and have tissues handy.

The Chosen Sin by Anya Bast The Reluctant Dom by Tymber Dalton

From My TBR List
So many books to read - so little time....
1. Eternal Hunter by Cynthia Eden
2. Covet by J.R. Ward

Eternal Hunter (Night Watch, #1) by Cynthia Eden Covet (The Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward

Well I hope you can find something in here to read and enjoy this month. If not let me know and I'll have another crack at it.

Annie (themadnessofhamsters) Hi KimKirt!
Hope you can find something out of these to tempt your fancy this November.

From your TBR:
1. Northern Lights by Nora Roberts. I really enjoyed this - not quite a romance, not quite a suspense...
2. The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. Intriguing and thought provoking.

New to you:
3. Touched by an Alien by Gini Koch. I found this fun and irreverent!
4. Slightly Shady by Amanda Quick. Well-worth a read. First in a trilogy (I think).

From my TBR:
5. A Dangerous Beauty by Sophie Nash.
6. A Quick Bite by Lyndsay Sands. This was recommended for me in this challenge - so I thought I'd share!

message 175: by Lili (new)

Lili | 343 comments Hey Hina, great looking into your shelves!
Here are your recs, check them out:

FROM YOUR TBR:
The Duke And I by Julia Quinn. A nice reading, this is an historical romance for you.
A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole. The first book of one of my favorite series, you'll fall in love with Lachlain.
Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione. First book of the Demonica series, this is an extra rec for you.

NEW TO YOU:
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer by Patrick Süskind. My favorite book of all time, a very interesting story... super creepy!
The Surgeon by Tess Gerritsen. I read this book for the featured author challenge and it's an interesting option for a mystery thriller.

FROM MY TBR:
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Ths book has been on my TBR for a while, let me know if you read it so I read it too.
Halfway to the Grave by Jeaniene Frost. This book is supposed to be very good.

I hope you find something good, if not let me know and I'll get you a new list.
Happy reading!

Nairabell | 433 comments Hi Angelique! :)

Here are your recs:

From your TBR:
Dead Witch Walking - I read this a few years back and loved it. It's a unique set-up and quite fast paced.
Greywalker - Again another unique book I loved, although this one takes a little while to get into but it's worth it in the end.

New to You:
Immortal - I noticed you've read and enjoyed quite a few YAs. This one isn't too well known but is great fun with really cool diary entries from over 100 years before that affect the modern story.
Infinity - You've read and enjoyed some of the Dark Hunters, so why not give Nick's story a go. It's YA so a bit different to the others but it's great to see a young Nick.

From my TBR:
Some Girls Bite - An impulse buy for me, but it sounds pretty good and has some great reviews.
Eragon - This has been sitting on my TBR for so long I think it might be holding the whole thing up. It's supposed to be great, but as much as I loved the movie I just can't seem to get to that book!

Hope there's something you like here :)

KimKirt | 1638 comments Hi Annie! Thanks for the recs.

I think I'm going to go with A Quick Bite. I have only read J R Ward's vampire series (Black Dagger Brotherhood) as paranormal is not my favorite genre, but I think I'll try this one to branch out a little. I might also try Slightly Shady since my library had that one as well. Stay tuned!

message 183: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (melaina) | 1339 comments Hi Sabrina!

I hope you find something you like here, if you don't let me know, I have so many recs:-) There are more than six, sorry, but only because I couldn't narrow it down more than nine.. I loved all these books:-) (btw, your shelves are waaaay more organized than mine! lol)

From your TBR

Lord of the Fading Lands - I'm terrible, I recommend this to everyone, lol! But it's seriously amazing, and the fifth (and last) book having just come out, you could read the whole story in one go! I saw you liked fae stories, and this has it all: fantasy, a soulmate romance, a tortured hero and a tormented heroine, and some amazing secondary storylines!

Kiss an Angel My favorite SEP, although I was reluctant to read it:-) Daisy seemed like such an airhead, but 20 pages in and I was hooked! There's secret identities, an arranged marriage, a bitchy ex, tigers, and at the end a whole load of angst! And it's definitely worth reading..

The Last Viking is hilarious! My first Sandra Hill read and I was laughing so hard I woke my s.o. up:-) Big macho viking from the past meets a modern history "profess-whore" (as Rolf says):-) If you're looking for a light and funny read, this is it!

last one, lol: Lover Awakened Zsadist is probably my (and pretty much everyone else's) favorite Brother, and it really is a beautiful story! I can't believe you didn't rush to read it after reading the second book:-)

New to you

Open Season - I saw you'd tried Linda Howard and weren't crazy about Death Angel (which I haven't read yet, and am reluctant to).. But Open Season is the book to try.. It's extremely funny, with dowdy Daisy getting a major makeover and attracting the attention of the town's chief of police... One of the scenes (exiting the pharmacy) had me laughing so hard I cried!

The Prey is one of Allison Brennan's older books, and I loved this trilogy. Romantic suspense at its best, if a little graphic. But I thought the suspense was wonderful!

My (and your) TBR

Born of Night - I love Sherrilyn Kneyon and have been dying to read this book.. I just read a short League story, and as soon as Nov 1st comes around, this will be one of the first books I'll read:-)

The Gargoyle is another book I'd love to read, but apparently it's a tear-jerker, so I'm waiting for a time where I have time to enjoy it and then cry..

Outlander - Everyone has recommended this book to me, and I'm taking it with me to Jamaica at Christmas.. It's a long book, and apparently the first could be read as a stand-alone, so it's great to know that there won't be a cliffhanger ending:-)

I've spent a lovely morning looking at your Read and TBR lists-
Recommendations:
From your TBR
Christina Dodd Just the Way You Are I love most of Christina Dodd, especially her contemporaries

Lisa Kleypas Someone to Watch Over Me You like Kleypas, this is a first in a series, this is your reason to read it

From My TBR
Laura Lee Guhrke And Then He Kissed Her
Patricia Brigg Moon Called

New to You ( or at least not on your list)
I'm going the author recommendations route and if you haven't read anything by Cindy Gerard or Roxanne St. Claire you might like them. Strong men and women. For St Claire, if you like to read things in order start with Kill Me Twice although I like First You Run or Take Me Tonight better. For Gerard try To the Edge or Show No Mercy. Hope you enjoy!

Thenia | 288 comments Miss, here are my recommendations:

From your TBR:

Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone ElkelesPerfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles
-- A beautiful realistic love story with complex characters. The idea may not be that original, but you'll love reading it anyway!

One for the Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet EvanovichOne for the Money by Janet Evanovich -- I recently started reading Stephanie Plum's adventures myself, and once I saw this book in your TBR list, I just had to recommend it! It's a fun series, about quirky headstrong Stephanie Plum's adventures in bail-jumpers apprehension. The results of her efforts...You'll have to read it and see for yourself!

New to you:

The Rest Falls Away (Gardella Vampire Chronicles, #1) by Colleen GleasonThe Rest Falls Away by Colleen Gleason
-- I saw that you like vampire books and that you read classics so this one is a must in my opinion. It's set in 19th-century London and I found the whole series unique. Again, you'll have to read it and see for youself! :)

The Magicians' Guild (Black Magician Trilogy, #1) by Trudi CanavanThe Magicians' Guild by Trudi Canavan -- According to your lists, you like fantasy books, too. This one is the first part of a trilogy that I'll never ever forget the end of. Great story, great development, twists and turns and like I said, unforgettable ending.

From Our TBR:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg LarssonThe Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
-- I've been planning to read this book for too long and I'm finally reading it for a challenge in November so you can join me!

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur GoldenMemoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden -- I've been meaning to read this one, too, but it's gonna wait a little longer so if you decide to read it, let me know what you think.

That's all from me! Happy reading! :D

message 188: by Thenia (new)

Thenia | 288 comments D.G., I loved your recommendations! To be honest, my TBR only has books that I'm planning to read for some challenge or sooner than the others (my real TBR pile is a few hundred times that and I'm actually afraid to see a number so I avoid compiling it into a list - I just know it's huge!)-- The only book that wasn't in my TBR list is The Confession of Fitzwilliam Darcy and now that's added, too!

I'm going to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for November's challenge, but I don't think I can resist Iron Kissed! I was disappointed that I couldn't fit that in the challenge, too, so you're actually doing me a favor by recommending it! :P

So, I'll definitely read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and probably Iron Kissed, too. The others are added to the TBR mountain for another time. ;)

Thanks!

I've actually read Outlander, but in England it is called Cross Stitch that is why you probably missed it on my tbr.

Thankyou for the recs though, I will definitely read Stargirl and if I can get hold of any of the others I'll try them too :)

Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Hi SheSwitches,

I enjoyed going through your lists. I've added some to my own TBR lists now. Like I need more to read LOL

From Your TBR List:
1)The Turning- I really enjoyed this book so much I listened to it on audio after reading it.
2)Greywalker - I just finished this book and really enjoyed it. It was very different from other paranormal books I've read.

New To You:

3)A Kiss of Shadows This is a good story with a little spice to it. More so in the follow up books to this series though. I really enjoy this series more than the Anita Blake books.
4)Blood Price This book was made into a short lived TV series. I read the book before the series and love it. Again the story is a bit different than most Vampire stories. It has been around long before it became popular to write about vampires.

From Our TBR list:

5)Bloodsucking Fiends- I really want to read this soon.
6)The Vampire Queen's Servant- I recently discovered Joey Hill and really want to read this one too.

I'm glad you found something you liked Thenia! Let me know what you think of Iron Kissed once you read it. :)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 4413 comments Ann, Hope these recommendations work for you. I tried to get a feel for what you usually read by checking your Already-Read shelf, but you haven't posted many there yet, so I relied on your profile for that.

Your TBR - These were both strong reads for me:
The Summoning by Kelly Armstrong - this is book 1 of a trilogy - here's my review
Not My Daughter by Barbara Delinsky - here's my review

New to You
Aunt Dimity's Death is a nice cozy-mystery by Nancy Atherton, and if you like it, you'll have a whole series to continue. Each book is complete in itself, so you're not left hanging at the end.
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak - you'll cry but you'll laugh, too. This is fiction, but I'll bet there are lots of people who survived that time who will say it reads like fact
Bonus: I noticed some Nora Roberts books on your shelves, but none from her paranormal series, so I'm counting that as a new-to-you and recommending the first book in her Three Sisters Island trilogy - Dance Upon the Air

From My TBR
Happy Ever After comes out next week and completes Nora Roberts' Bride Quartet. We both have it on our TBRs - I'm planning on reading it this month.
Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah MacLean - because you indicated you like historical fiction and romance. This is a new author for me, but she has been recommended on several historical romance threads.

Thank you! Yes, I need to work on adding more to my already read shelf. I should do that today, because I know I've read more than what is there!

I am actually heading to the library now, and it looks like Aunt Dimity's Death is already available, so I will get that. I ordered The Summoning from another library that will get to my library sometime next week, and then I will probably also read Happy Ever After and Not my Daughter for sure! I'm loving your picks!

I hope you find something you like here, if you don't let me know. I noticed you like Young Adult, so I tried to find a YA for each category.

YOUR TBR
Poison Study by Maria V Snyder - This YA has a little bit of everything fantasy/magic, mystery, political intrigue and ramance.
Bitten by Kelley Armstrong - This is the beging of one of my favorite series The Women of the Otherworld. Kelley Armstrong is on my auto-buy list.

NEW TO YOU
City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - First installment in the YA Mortal Instruments Series. I really enjoyed the entire series.
Blue Skies by Catherine Anderson - Catherine Anderson writes really good stories and is another of my auto-buy authors. This is part of a series but it does not have to be read in order.

MY TBR
Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles - YA romance that has really good reviews. Also won the 2010 RITA Award for best YA Romance.
One Reckless Summer by Toni Blake - Sounds like a fun sexy romance.

The only reason I mention this is that I already posted picks for Elizabeth. What's funny is that three of our picks are the same (that should certainly tell her that she should read those books). "

I realized that last night after I posted and went back to check what other recommendations were made and sent a message to Debbie. I just got back on and see that there was a mistake. No problem! I'm sorry if I'm a bit late though Nicole. But I'm going to take some time to look through your lists now and I'll make my recommendations shortly!

And Photojim, I did notice that three of the recommendations were the same. Good choices!

From my TBR
Covet by J.R. Ward - I have heard really good things about this book.
Uglies by Scott Westerfeld - This is a young adult book about a futuristic society. I've heard really good things about this book as well.

Christine S, thanks for the recommendations. I not much of a historical romance reader but have heard a lot of good things about Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake, so I'll probably give it a try next month. :)
