On the Prowl
Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs - I have loved this short story since the first time I read it. On the Prowl is the only anthology I've ever bought because of this story! But, I do think that you really need to read Moon Called first or else you just wont understand what in the world Charles is doing in Chicago. But this is a great beginning to Brigg's spin-off series. Love it, love it, love it! And always something great to pick up for a quick re-read.

Inhuman by Eileen Wilks - This was a really good story. I was impressed that Wilks was able to do enough world building in a short story so that those of us that have never read anything by her weren't completely lost. From what I understand this is the middle of a series, but not the same characters as the other books. I'll probably be adding the first book of the series to my TBR pile. But I'd rather see more of these characters, and I'm pretty sure they don't really play a major part of the other books, but I could be wrong about that!

Buying Trouble by Karen Chance - I've been a Karen Chance fan for a while, so I enjoyed this story. It's not one that you have to read her others books to get the characters and the plot, which is really nice! Although it does add some back story to Midnight's Daughter. So that was fun. Overall I really enjoyed this, and think that even those that have never read Karen Chance would enjoy it.

Mona Lisa Betwining by Sunny - I just didn't get it! I was lost most of the time. There was zero world building for those of us that have never read anything by this author, and I'm pretty sure that this story was in the middle of a series of books. Because I could tell that there was a lot of back story that I didn't get at all! If you have read her books, this was probably a great story, but not recommended if you are just trying the author out to see if you want to read her books.

Have you ever read The Host before? If not, I hope that you enjoy it! It's a fav of mine. Take a little bit to get into it but once you do it's really interesting!

message 217: by Nita (new)

Nita (gillnit) I finished my 2nd book, Addicted. This one is not pnr at all, but a really great romance. Lindsay is absolutely obsessed with Anais, a friend he has had since childhood. But he also has an addiction to opium. They both make some huge mistakes and end up being separated and in different countries for 10 months. They find they still have a very strong connection when reunited. This book is described as an erotic novel. There is a lot of sex, but I personally wouldn't describe it as overly erotic.

FlibBityFLooB 30%. I definitely do not recommend Witch in the House. It was really bad, at least in my opinion. It did make lots of laughs reading passages out loud to my husband, though. He begged me to write a review making fun of the author's style, but I decided to not do it because I didn't want to upset the author if she happened to read it. Ah well. No, I haven't read anything by Meyer before. It seems like a really interesting storyline and I don't mind if books are slow at the beginning. I love science fiction/fantasy, so I think I'll really like this one.

LOL! Twilight was the first series that I ever read in the genre, so I really enjoyed it. But since then, no that I've read a ton of books in the genre, I can't stand it!

But I love The Host!

Martina the Book Fairy (book_fairy) | 442 comments MARTINA'S MARCH LIST - 1/10 COMPLETE

Man, I'm off to a slow start! I always have two books going - one in paperback and one on my Nook, but I'm just not getting involved in them this week! *grumbles under breath about anthologies*

I just finished the Shifter Anthology (★★★★) which features the following four stories:
* Mad Dog by Angela Knight - a tasty piece of futuristic/sci-fi blend romance. I really wished there was more of this particular story. If anyone knows if there's a series based on this story, please let me know ASAP!
* A Jaguars Kiss by Lora Leigh - a story in her Breed series, which I read and generally enjoy.
* Shifter's Lady by Alyssa Day - a story in her Warriors of Poseidon series.
* Sea Crossing by Virginia Kantra - a period piece about a "ruined" schoolteacher who is rescued by a Selkie. I really liked this one even though I don't typically enjoy the historical romances.

Nita (gillnit) I have been meaning to read my 3rd book, Wild Thing, for a while now. I have read books by 3 of the 4 authors in this anthology. Meljean Brook and Alyssa Day's stories were continuations of series I have really enjoyed. Marjorie Liu's story is a prequel to her Hunter Kiss series. I have the two books in this series, but have not read them yet. I liked the prequel, and now really look forward to the books. Maggie Shayne was the only one I had not read before. The story was fine, but I don't feel like I have to run out and get more books by her.
