The MacInnes Werewolves Trilogy by Kendra Leigh Castle

1. Lord Viper (Infernal Night, #1) (e-book) by Ruth D. Kerce

Martina wrote: "I have a question. I see a lot of folks using the Diana Tregarde mysteries by Mercedes Lackey as a trilogy (which I get, because there are three of them), but they also (IMO) meet the description ..."
I'm not familiar with the books, so this is hard for me. Obviously, people are classifying it as trilogy because there are three books available.
I went to her website and they are definitely group together, but she also calling them independently as books (not as a series). So, I'm not exactly sure where it would fall. But, if there is no overlying story arc that completes at the third book, then it is not a trilogy. However, if there is a constant (like a character), then it seems to have the markings of a series. Oh, now...I'm confusing myself. : )
Anybody around who knows more about these books, please pipe up and let's see if we can classify them right.
In the meantime, those who are using them as a trilogy, continue to do so. As for a stand-alone, not entirely sure yet.

Here is the defenition of a trilogy from Wikpedia if this helps.
A trilogy is a set of three works of art that are connected, and that can be seen either as a single work or as three individual works. They are most commonly found in literature, film, or video games, less commonly in visual art or musical works.
Most trilogies are works of fiction involving the same characters or setting, such as The Deptford Trilogy of novels by Robertson Davies or The Godfather films of Francis Ford Coppola. Others are connected only by theme: for example, each film of Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colors trilogy explores one of the political ideals of the French Republic (liberty, equality, fraternity) and each novel in Paul Auster's The New York Trilogy uses formats from detective fiction to explore existential questions. Trilogies can also be connected in less obvious ways, such as "The Nova Trilogy" of novels by William S. Burroughs, each written using Brion Gysin’s cut-up technique.

I just finished the Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance ed. by Tricia Telep (★★★). Geez, they aren't kidding when they call this a mammoth book - it's over 500 pages containing 24 paranormal romance short stories. And a lot of those are from well known authors of the genre!
The plus is that they're bite-sized (no pun intended) easily consumable stories. You don't need to stop in the middle of the story because it's easy to read an entire tale in one sitting. The minus is that it's hard to take the book anywhere because it's BIG. Also, while all of the stories are good, none stuck out in my head as being amazing.

I ended up changing the last anthology I needed to read to Full Moon City. I saw it and it really intrigued me because it was supposed to be all about shifters. The first story was just really wierd, and the rest never got much better. There were only two authors that I even recognized, one of which I've never read before. The highlight was probably the story by Carrie Vaughn, featuring Kitty. It was good, but just didn't have the spark that I tend to look for with Kitty stories! Overall, not really worth the time to read it!

Read all my reviews: Tara's read and reviewed

I liked it. My favorite stories were the ones at the beginning, like the seeing eye story. I find anthologies more difficult to read anyway because I just can't seem to get as caught up in the story. The last 100 pages go way more quickly than the first 100. Oh and I did read it. I can't do audio books very well.

Just finished Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, Book 1) by Molly Harper which I give ★★★1/2. Jane Jameson is a southern small town librarian who is having a very bad day. She's just been fired from her job, has gotten good and drunk on mudslides, her car broke down on the way home, and she was mistaken by a deer and shot by a hillbilly. Luckily the mystery man she just met at the bar was following her home and saw the whole thing. Luckier still is that he's a vampire and has just turned Jane into one, too. Jane now has to come to terms with her new vampire lifestyle including how to tell her overbearing family, how to socialize with other newly undead, and where to find a job that will allow her to keep her historic and greatly-in-demand home.
I did enjoy this book, I just found it to be rather average for the genre rather than above average. I like Jane - especially her addiction to literary Janes like Austen and to a lesser extent Eyre. However, I found her exceptionally naïve even for this storyline. I hated how the relationship with her family was dealt with, but loved her ghostly aunt. Basically there just wasn't enough character development & depth to Jane for my taste, I think. Which there's nothing terribly wrong with - it was a fun read - just not a fabulous read.
I would categorize this book as light & fun PNR along the lines of a MaryJanice Davidson, Michelle Bardsley, Gerry Bartlett, Dakota Cassidy, Tate Hallaway, Katie MacAlister, or Kimberly Raye vampire novel.

yay--library finally sent me notice that my trilogy was in. (I'd had to put it on reserve.) Now I can get that started. In the meantime, I've finally finished another anthology. It was a 5 story one, that got 2 whole stars. The only 2 stores that I liked was the Jeanine Frost one (a short set in Cat and Bone's world.) And a historical that was also part of another series, one that I hadn't read before. But I'm thinking seriously about trying to find the other books in the series, simply because the writer DID handle short story format well.

I really don't recommend Mister B. Gone. My boyfriend took it out of the library on CD and I listened to it with him. If I'd been reading this I never would have finished it.

Was that Unbound?
Tara--no the short story in Four Dukes and a Devil was called Devil to Pay--its about one of Mencheres other "children." Cat and Bones do make a very brief appearance in the story, as does Mencheres.
Ok, oh Great Leader--are we counting the books set in the Cat and Bones world (i.e. First Drop of Crimson etc.) as stand alones? I admit--I just could NOT hold out any longer and HAD to read it. :o) Now, can I count it as a stand alone or do I have to read a different story?

Sorry...it's a first book of another series (Mencheres' book is next, if I'm not mistaken), so we can't treat it as a stand-alone.
Now, why do I feel guilty saying no? : )

And I DID manage to hold out this long on reading it, so I think I did really well. It had been sitting on my tbr shelf since release date, sending out siren calls to me. I just finally couldn't resist Spade any longer.
What I'm wondering about is--what is she going to do with IAN?? And what about Timothy? (the 4th one that we haven't met yet.)
Sigh, so many books, so little time.

I liked the first few stories, but the last three I really had a hard time with! Luckily for me, I was listening to it on audio book, so that sorta forces you to keep going. Not sure if I would have made it through those last three otherwise.
