Mrs. Soule--is that the Riddlemaster of Hed series that you are going to read for your trilogy? If so--I LOVED it. I got it as an omnibus many, many, MANY years ago from the Sci-fi Book Club. I think I've read it about 9 times since I got it. The poor book is getting ready to fall to pieces, its been read so many times (not just by me--daughter, loanded it to friends, trying to get the grands to read it now. . .) :oP

message 454: by Ms.soule (new)

Ms.soule (mrssoule) That's my plan, if I can find all 3! I know my library has the first one, but not the others. The first is one of those fantasy classics I keep comming across but never made myself read!

Martina the Book Fairy (book_fairy) | 442 comments MARTINA'S MARCH LIST - 8/10 COMPLETE

Just finished Mr. Darcy, Vampyre by Amanda Grange (****), a sequel to Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice in which - you guessed it - Mr. Darcy turns out to be a vampire (or vampyre as it were). The story begins the morning of the Darcy & Bingley wedding and follows Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth as they go on their wedding tour to the continent. Elizabeth is clued in that something is wrong early on when Darcy doesn't visit her room - and therefore consummate their marriage - on the wedding night. Clues that all is not well slowly build up, and one thing after another go wrong on their trip, giving Elizabeth moments of both excitement and fear, but she couldn't possibly guess the secret that Darcy is hiding.

I really enjoyed this book! The language stays pretty true to the original style of Jane Austen, though perhaps without quite as much wit and significantly more gothic excitement than the original. I find myself hoping that the author branches out and writes the other Austen originals as paranormal sequels, too.

Martina--she has written other books featuring some of Austen's heros. Just not pnr. I've just finished reading Captain Wentworth's Diary, and still have Mr. Darcy's Diary to go. Unfortunately, my library doesn't have ALL of her books, or I'd have reserved them all, but hey, I'll have to be happy with what they have, right? :o) I now have this strange URGE to break out my dvd's of Pride and Prejudice, Persuasion, Emma, etc and watch them all. (What can I say--I am an Austenophile.)

message 500: by Chelle (new)

Chelle (nwgrrl) | 55 comments I hate not finishing something - this is my first completed month. So, thanks, Yz! :) Incidentally, whoever had this idea really outdid themselves. I have had so much fun reading so many different authors, instead of latching onto one and reading their entire canon in one gluttonous swoop. Forcing myself to move onto a completely new author or series gives me that much more to look forward to, since I am constantly finding more books to add to my massive reading pile. It's a win-win-win! :P
