TO READ:

On the Prowl
Alpha and Omega by Patricia Briggs - I have loved this short story since the first time I read it. On the Prowl is the only anthology I've ever bought because of this story! But, I do think that you really need to read Moon Called first or else you just wont understand what in the world Charles is doing in Chicago. But this is a great beginning to Brigg's spin-off series.
Inhuman by Eileen Wilks - This was a really good story. I was impressed that Wilks was able to do enough world building in a short story so that those of us that have never read anything by her weren't completely lost. From what I understand this is the middle of a series, but not the same characters as the other books. I'll probably be adding the first book of the series to my TBR pile. But I'd rather see more of these characters, and I'm pretty sure they don't really play a major part of the other books, but I could be wrong about that!
Strange Brew
Seeing Eye by Patricia Briggs - I found this to be a really interesting story. I enjoyed the characters, although I would have liked to see more of the development of their relationship. I was happy to see them show up in Hunting Ground, but I'd still like to see more about this great characters!
Last Call by Jim Butcher - This story was ok, but if I had never read any of the Dresden File books before I might have been a bit confused, plus I'm not really sure that this story would make me care about starting the series. I've been listening to this anthology on audio and I really missed James Marsters for the voice of Harry!
Death Warmed Over by Rachel Caine This story was interesting, but I felt like I was really missing something important! Like a major back story. The main character has to bring a man back from the dead. A number of times the story referenced a year before when she had brought this same man back, and I really wish that there was a book that was that story. But after looking over Caine's books, I'm pretty sure that this story is a stand alone, not part of a series. I just felt like it wasn't enough, but that's common for me with short stories!

Mr. Darcy, Vampyre was a surprisingly good read. Amanda Grange managed to do a fairly good job of catching Jane Austen's style, especially with the letters from Lizzie. They really read to me like the letters that were from Pride and Prejudice. I gave it a 4.5 out of 5. I will definitely have to check out the rest of her work, even if this WAS the only PNR she has out so far.

Whatever you do, DO NOT READ MR. DARCY VAMPYRE!!!! I wish to spare everybody the torture of reading this book. It was HORRIBLE. Here's my review...:
This book was so frustrating!! It begins really well, I was fully enthused and was excited to be able to experience their wedding day but after that, the book immediately goes down hill. My interest steadly slipped away and eventually I simply didn't want to read it anymore. I wasn't interested. By pure determination of will, I continued to read it until the very end, even though it took a couple of extra weeks than it should have. Elizabeth is left in the dark for about three-fourths of the book and then the end rushes through the parts that are supposed to be the most exciting and climatic. I was truly frustrated with this book and would honestly NOT recommend this to any one. Save yourself the torture. The very slow painful torture. It's simply best to not even attempt the read. I'm further upset because money was wasted buying this book. DO NOT READ

READ:

A number of times the story referenced a year before when she had brought this same man back, and I really wish that there was a book that was that story. But after looking over Caine's books, I'm pretty sure that this story is a stand alone, not part of a series. I just felt like it wasn't enough, but that's common for me with short stories!
Vegas Odds by Karen Chance Action packed, and a fun read. If I hadn't already read books by her though, I'm not sure if I would have understood everything because there really wasn't any world building done
Hecate's Golden Eye by P.N. Elrod This story was alright, but didn't make me want to go out and read others by the author.
Bacon by Charlaine Harris Gotta love Charlaine Harris! This story was set in Sookie's world but none of the characters are featured in the regular series. So, you can read the story without being lost about the characters. It was typical Harris. If you like her books, you'll enjoy this story.
Signature of the Dead by Faith Hunter, Ginger by Caitlin Kittredge and Dark Sins by Jenna Maclaine I decided to lump these three together, because my reviews of them are all the same. I just never got into any of these stories. None of them really grabbed my attention and made me want to read any more about these characters or by these authors. All three stories were pretty forgettable for me!
Wow Samatha--I enjoyed Mr. Darcy, Vampyre. I read it for this challenge. I thought that she did a good job of getting into Jane's skin in the story. Ah well--to each his own, right?
I went to the foot dr. today--had my "usual" appointment for footcare (my right foot is numb--nerve damage from a car accident) so I have to go and get the word done and the foot checked over by a dr. every 2 or 3 months. And discovered that the "cut" that I thought I had on my big toe was actually an ingrown toenail. Sigh, NOT fun, now I can barely walk and spent 2.5 hours at the dr's while she did the "usual" stuff, then did the surgery for the toenail. I DID get some reading done, but not as much as I'd thought I would.
On another plus side--I have 12 of the 23 tee shirts embroidered that I have to get done. I'm hoping I'll be able to get the rest done tomorrow, but won't know for sure til I start working on them tomorrow. After that, I'll have my homework from my quilt class to do, and I'll be able to do some reading during that. I've just got too much on my plate right now, and I am feeling frustrated that I'm not getting any serious READING done. lol.

I finished the anthology Midnight Pleasures and gave it three stars. The first story by Amanda Ashley was pretty good, I enjoyed the second story by Sherrilyn Kenyon and the fourth by Ronda Thompson but the third story by Maggie Shayne was awful. I've read company annual reports that were more entertaining.

There are only three books so it is a trilogy.

It's a great trilogy, and the scary scenes remind me of a Shyamalan movie. Love the friendship among the guys. Nora Roberts is pretty good at that kind of thing.

Finished Nightseer. I didn't care for this book. Too much straight up fantasy for me. I'm giving it 3 stars only because it's LKH (one of my favorite authors) and I don't really feel like it's fair for me to rate it harshly just because it's not my type of book.
