Jessica--also, most of us being dedicated bookaholics--we also keep track of how many books we read for this challenge each month, as well as a yearly total (I post that.) Mostly, I think because we just all love books and looking at those numbers gives us all a 'glow' since we can feel happy that we are keeping authors, publishers, libraries, bookstores, UPS, USPS etc in business. lol, welcome to the challenges.

I think I'll complete 4 books this month! Woo Hoo me! Its a record! lol!

I absolutely loved this trilogy!
Only Child

I need 1 more standalone book and I'm done.
Ok I'm changing my Trilogy for Nora Roberts Circle Trilogy I just couldn't get into the Gemma Doyle Trilogy.

I recently finished A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, Book 1) by Kresley Cole (★★★★). Genre-wise, it's fairly basic paranormal romance - some good sex scenes, a happily ever after, and some fun paranormal creatures. But oh! The paranormal creatures in here are not just your average vamps or wolves. No, you get the king of the werewolves (called the Lykae in this series) and a comparatively young vampire/Valkyrie half-breed female. It does have the whole destined-to-be-together schtick, so if that's not your thing then you might want to skip this series, but it also has a larger creature cast than most stories with well-thought-out backgrounds to boot! I can't think of another series out there right now that has Valkryies in them, can you? I'll definitely be picking up IAD book #2.

It took me forever to get through Face the Fire, perhaps because I wasn't such a fan of the audio book, but that's all the library had at the moment. I did enjoy it when I finally made it to the end, but it was a long time coming.

I loved the Host. Great world, great story, great characters. I am not an emotional person most of the time but there were a couple of scenes that I will honestly say had me crying. Finished it last last night and I couldnt sleep afterwards. I want to say it was the story but I did have 2 large cups of coffee to stay awake during class so you can make your own mind up on the cause.
Martina wrote: I can't think of another series out there right now that has Valkryies in them, can you?
Er, yeah Martina, Harry Dresden has 1 who makes a periodic appearance--albeit in "disguise" but still. . . :o) She's the security expert that guards Johnny Marcone. And she's built like the mythical descriptions of Valkries--tall, blond, etc. :o)

I have a feeling the host will be on my permenant re-read shelf too. I know there is speculation on her writing a sequel and I hope she does. I already want to know how what was revealed on the last couple pages is going to shake things up!

Thanks Anne! I have the first Dresden book on my shelf (bought after seeing everyone here RAVE about them) but haven't had the chance to get into the yet! I keep promising myself that will do so soon, but I have literally 100+ other books on my TBR that I have a hard time starting a new series!

Read all my reviews: Tara's read and reviewed

I recently finished reading the Bite anthology (★★★★) with the following stories:
○ The Girl Who Was Infatuated With Death by Laurell K. Hamilton - an Anita Blake short story that takes place between Blue Moon and Obsidian Butterfly.
○ One Word Answer by Charlaine Harris - a Sookie Stackhouse short story that explains a bit more about her cousin Hadley's death.
○ Biting in Plain Sight by MaryJanice Davidson - a story that takes place in the world of Queen Betsy.
○ Galahad by Angela Knight - set in her Mageverse series (which I'm unfamiliar with, hence the short description).
○ Bloodlust by Vickie Taylor (another one I don't know much about)
All the stories were very good. The first three were nice little insights into worlds I'm already familiar with, but the last two were new to me. I enjoyed the new ones quite a bit - I even went so far as to look to see if the authors had more stories in the same worlds - so you know they're good! :-)
