It's a 400 page novel with about 40 pages of actual story.

Sometimes that's an issue with Koontz.

Mmm I kinda enjoyed it. I thought it could be shorter, yes, but also that it was interesting. I got distracted a lot while reading it though.

I keep asking myself why I still read his books. I guess the basic storylines sound good to me but I should know by now that with few exceptions I don't really like his books.

message 74: by Monica (new)

Monica Go | 896 comments I actually read only three books by Koontz I think, this was the fourth. All pretty average if I think about it. This is the one I enjoyed the most. I still want to give the Odd Thomas series a try.

I did like the Odd Thomas series. As with most series, the first book or two are the best ones. Odd had the benefit of a bit of humor and I liked the character. Maybe it's memories of that series that make want to keep trying Koontz's books...

Agreed. The Odd Thomas series is a favorite of mine and in my opinion, Koontz best. Since the series ended, I actually haven't read many of his books.

message 85: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 450 comments Just finished this The Resurrectionist by Wrath James White. I copied down the top 100 horror stories that was on the group and this was one of them.

I would recommend it but it may be a bit extreme for some people. What I like about books like this is that sometimes they take ideas that have never been done before (or at least I've not see before) and really explore it. This was one of those books. Great story idea.

I will have to take a look at that one, sounds great. I agree, so many good finds that this group brings to us :) One of the group reads is a book I normally wouldn’t have picked up on my own, so I’m glad that was there :)

Have you read the 4MK trilogy yet? They are pretty good! I still need to read the last one.
