What Have You Read - 2021
Roth-Steyr by Simon Bestwick
This is an unusual and highly original novella, and adds to the author's already noteworthy collection. I loved it.

and The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton which is amazing!
Iv'e just finished Naomi's Room by Jonathan Aycliffe. I know it's been around for a while but my dad read it years ago when I was younger and recommended too me. Very creepy. I finished it in 2 days as its a short read. But after the first night I told myself not to read that one before going to sleep again lol (over active imagination).
Funny, but while I liked Naomi's Room, I didn't think it was great. But it's stuck with me. Something about it seems to have hooked into my memory and I'll consider rereading it again sometime.
I (almost) finished the High Moor serie yesterday. The first book, High Moor, was really good and I had a great time reading it, as I said here before !
The next one, Moonstruck, was not that good anymore yet remained entertaining. This one left me doubtful because I felt like there was no clue about where the story was going. What I read was well-written and I was happy to continue my reading but there was clearly something missing.
And the last one, oh my! It is so different from the first one and so distant of what I was looking for at thd first place that my wife made me quit reading it for I annoyed her with all my exasperated sighs.
I'm not saying that the serie is lame nor that no one should read it, kind the contrary in fact. I'm saying that this was not the kind of story I was looking for. If you're like me and want to read a "basic" werewolf story where monsters attack every fullmoon, don't pick this one ;-)
I'm following the author on Goodreads because I find he's a good style and writes quite well! I'm sure I'll be happy to give a try to another book of his some time.
Here are my 3 reviews but you've got a more detailled opinion in this post than in the reviews :

It's good! It's not ground breaking, to the genre, but the author's writing style is great.
Finished The Fourth Monkey last night and loved it! Felt like I was standing on the edge of a kind of reading slump, or at least a weird slog with my brain not doing its usual thing with characters, etc., and this definitely snapped me out of it! Really enjoy his works :)
Happy reading everyone! Enjoy your weekend.

Well, then I will start it soon.
A re-read of Battle Royale. It always makes me wonder what I would do if I was in a similar situation. I would hope I wouldn't want to take part but who knows?!
Looking for a new read but just finished 'I Travel By Night' by Robert McCammon Thoughts on this one..

I've got 7 or 8 books started, I'm just in a giant slump, haven't read anything in 2 days. I think I'm going to re-read an old favorite even though I've got like 550 books in my TBR, I think i'll start with a Novella or 2.
