Yes, you are weird .. but I doubt it has anything to do with the chicken! ;)

Umm, I think I can understand the aversion. I'm not sure I've ever had a chicken, egg, combo before; maybe in a chicken salad, but I doubt it.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Haha!

I don't know. Maybe because they're two stages of the same species, so mixing them is weird to me? No idea really.

MrsJoseph *grouchy* (mrsjoseph) | 5312 comments huh.

I don't think I've had them together, either.

message 3904: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I guess I started thinking about that awhile back when I was making some quick breakfast. Usually I'll scramble up some eggs, then throw in whatever I have available. Cheese of course, then sausage or bacon if I have some. One time I had some leftover chicken tenders and considered it, then chose not to as it struck me as gross.

message 3905: by Jackie (last edited Dec 22, 2016 11:12AM) (new)

Jackie (thenightowl) Chris, now you have me thinking. lol. The only dish I can think of having the two together is maybe at an Asian restaurant where I might have had chicken and rice with bits of egg in the rice. Can't think of anything else though.

message 3906: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments Hope I didn't start something lol..

I could see it in Asian food maybe.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I eat them with turkey bacon...but they weren't turkey eggs so that probably doesn't count.

I just asked my kids this question.

1. They don't remember having that combo either (except as Jackie mentioned, in a fried rice combo).
2. They think it's weird but not gross.

message 3909: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I think I agree with them. It is more weird to me than gross, just weird enough to pass on it.

message 3910: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I have definitely had chicken and eggs together. Usually any kind of battered chicken will include egg as part of the battering process.

But Cobb salads have chicken (usually) and egg and bacon and blah blah blah.

Chicken fried rice definitely has both.

I never thought it was weird at all.

My weird thing is I don't like chicken and cheese together. Like, if there's cheese on a chicken sandwich, I will either pick something else, or if there's nothing else that calls to me, I will order it sans cheese. I just think that cheese on chicken sammiches is weird. Exception is chicken cheesesteaks, or like smothered chicken with cheese and mushrooms and stuff.

I don't even like cheese with fajitas of any kind. I think it's wrong. But oddly I'm OK with cheese on refried beans that are incorporated into my fajita burrito thing. LOL I know I'm in the minority there.

Yup. There ya go.

message 3911: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments I had a cobb salad once.... once.

*No, I don't know why I'm channeling Johny Dangerously there. It was a good salad.

message 3912: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I'll eat cheese on just about anything.

Yes, it's the Cobb salad I get at Zaxby's. They section all the parts though and it's up to the consumer to mix it all up. I usually do, but avoid taking a bite with both egg and chicken.

I never thought about the batter, but yes I guess it would be there. I don't know how to explain it, just a bite of chicken and egg together seems odd. I might have to force myself to try it to break the connection. I mean, they both come from the same species. It would seem like mixing chicken parts and pig parts would be more odd.

I only like sandwiches if they have cheese (except PB&J that is). I've even been known to add provolone to my tuna sandwiches, even though fish and cheese is otherwise a weird ass combo to me.

message 3923: by Chris , cookie guilt (new)

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 2450 comments I love cheese on tuna. I'll even eat it on that feux-fish seafood combo that Subway has.

But never tried it with provolone, I don't think. I'll add that to my bucket list.

Jay (okay_jay) | 135 comments TBH, pb&pickles sounds better than tuna salad. My hate of eggs extends to mayonnaise.
BTW, eggs hate me as well. In cooking class, tried to break eggs into a bowl. First yolk straight onto the floor, second yolk slid across the counter, and the third landed in my apron. After that, quits with eggs.

Nyssa | 2023 comments Mrs. J.
I was going to make the following comment in the December thread, as a response to your wanting to hug all the gifts, but I apparently missed the cut off. So I hope you see it here:

"LOL! Hera is very selective with her snuggles (I'm the only one who can pick her up for a cuddle - everyone else must go to her and pet her where she lays; but she usually appreciates a good face hug (where you cover her face with your palm and stroke her cheeks) from all. Almost makes you forget she has 5 pointy ends. Let me know if you want to stop by to say hello to her. :)
Kindred was awesome, and I Love my new mug! I use it constantly! "

I want to add. Thank you to all who admired the kitty. I'm amused, sometimes, by how much I love that cat. My kids accept her as a sibling. :)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I've been in a bit of a slump about picking new books... and a bit overwhelmed by my (admittedly much smaller than some) TBR pile.

So I decided today that whenever I'm picking books to put on hold at the library, I'm going to try to pick a selection of newer books, and also pick at least 1 or 2 from the oldest on my TBR list.

How do you go about picking books when nothing jumps out at you?

I don't. I play video games instead.

Right now I'm playing Grim Dawn and I'm loving it.

message 3942: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments I usually end up binge watching things on Netflix. Sometimes it's something new, other times it's restarting a series I enjoy but never finished.

message 3943: by HomeInMyShoes (new)

HomeInMyShoes I'll go to the library and randomly read the spines in various places on the fiction shelves. I'll try for author names that sound foreign right now. It's all very random for me. Sometimes I'll browse through my favorite reads here and see what "others also enjoyed/read."

I almost never randomly browse anymore.

Couldn't at my library, because it sucks. If I do browse I'll go to B&N or something, but it's very rare these days.

I don't normally force it. Reading slump time is usually used to catch up on Netflix or other stuff. Eventually, I'll watch enough junk to motivate me to start reading again.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments It continually boggles my mind that people do not equate an open book with a "Do Not Disturb" sign.

Of course, today's culprit also talks to me (at the gym) when I have my headphones in... so, apparently, he just refuses to be deterred.

(And it's not even like he's saying anything important. Honestly, it's some of the most inane commentary ever, about whatever's on the TV... )
