We put him in the tub and hosed him off good. I think we got it all!

No fair!! Wesley was not into his cake. He poked at it but ultimately didn't care. We had his birthday party at his favorite restaurant. He loves their mashed potatoes and creamed corn. We said no to cake and yes to mashed potatoes. So we tried to get him to eat the mashed potatoes and get messy that way but he was not interested. He kept looking at my moms spoon so she just fed it to him normal. Anticlimactic.

That's hilarious. He was probably giving all of y'all the side-eye.

message 4105: by Felina (new)

Felina He was. If Wesley is anything it is an eater. Don't get between him and his food. Now he'd probably make a huge mess of a cake but then he just wanted his food in the most direct method possible.

Dawn (breakofdawn) | 860 comments I was actually surprised that Rowan didn't eat more of the cake. I thought once he got a taste he'd be shoving it down, but he was more interested in playing with it. It was hilarious though, we was grabbing handfuls and rubbing it on his stomach and sticking it into his diaper... What a gross kid, lol. Eventually, once he got it into a nice mushy paste, he licked it directly off the tray for a while.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments Okay... shipping logic. I'm home "recuperating" and am just getting to feel like doing some crafts (leather work). I ordered a couple of new knives. I want to make a couple of belts with knife and black powder revolver, you know holster and sheath.

So...anyway I ordered the knives and they shipped (via Fedex) from Ga. I live in Nashville so the expected arrival date was Sat. the 28th. Today the expected date changed to Mon. the 30th. See it shipped from GA to MS ( Massachusetts)...

Am I the only one who can read a map??? I Mean they could have mailed it for the same shipping (or less) and not given my order a national tour. Possibly they could simply thrown it out of the truck on the way by???

Weird, oh well.

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I'm guessing it got sent on the wrong truck. I've had that happen before, and my package has had a mighty trip before finally making it back around my way...

message 4111: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments A coworker says that he heard from another coworker that I was a fantasy reader, and he asked if it was true... so I said yes, naturally.

He looked like a happy puppy.

Then he said, "Sanderson...?"

And I crushed his poor little puppy heart when I said I wasn't a fan.

And then he died even more when I said I didn't like Name of the Wind.

He decided to take consolation in the fact that at there was another fantasy reader amongst us, even if we didn't like the same things.

(Though he did agree that Tolkien was overrated, so he's not a complete write-off.) ;)

message 4127: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments Has anyone else ever experienced book-amnesia; as in you know you've read or at least started a book before, but can't remember a thing about it? That's what's happening with me and American Gods.
I apparently got to page 129, four years ago, and stopped reading it for reasons I don't remember. So I expected something to feel familiar as I restarted it today, but it was like I had never seen the book before.
The reason I find this surprising is because the first two chapters are pretty vulgar, language-wise, and chapter two is all sorts of NC-17, so you'd expect them to leave an impression.

message 4128: by Mike (the Paladin) (new)

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments I've forgotten that I read a book but recalled it when I started the reread. I think after you've read a lot it just has to happen.

message 4129: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments I've seen books on my read list that I had no recollection of, but then once I start reading the blurb or review it comes back to me a little.

That's actually one reason I started writing reviews - to give myself little memory prompts about why I liked or didn't like a book, since I didn't always remember.

See, that all makes sense, and is what I expected. But I'm sitting here like "Wait, I read one-hundred pages of this book before!?!"
Maybe my book memory resets after four years...*shrug*

Well all your cells supposedly get replaced every 7 years, so why not? ;)

I've had the experience many times, where I know I've read the book before but can't even remember who done it or the denouement.

Or maybe it was just... not memorable for you. I've re-read whole books where I KNOW I've read the book before but nothing jogs my memory. Or sometimes things are vaguely familiar like déjà vu but I don't really remember.

message 4134: by colleen the convivial curmudgeon, Not a book hipster! (new)

colleen the convivial curmudgeon (blackrose13) | 2976 comments Yeah. Some books just don't stick because they're just so meh.

Movies, too.

Like... we watched the Batman Lego movie and I'd totally forgotten we'd even seen it. I said to my husband one night, while deciding what to watch, "How about Batman Lego. We'd said we'd wanted to watch it."

"Didn't we already watch that?"

"Did we?"

"Yeah..." - and then he goes into some descriptions of what happened, and it took me a good several minutes to even remember stuff enough to recall that, yeah, we had actually watched it.

And it wasn't even long. Like - a couple of weeks. And I'd totally blanked on it.

Mike (the Paladin) (thepaladin) | 1381 comments ...do I know you people???? Oh yeah, I remember now. I'm sorry. Never mind...

message 4136: by Nyssa (new)

Nyssa | 2023 comments Hmm.. Not sure if this has ever happened with a movie before...but would I remember if it did!?! ;)

You're probably right Mrs. J. I have had a moment or two of deja vu, but chocked it up to wanting to remember something that I couldn't in this case.

I like the way you think Orlok!

Thanks for making me feel less crazy, guys. lol

I only had one update:
April 12, 2013 – page 129
21.79% "I think my suspicions were just confirmed... But my planning period is over, and I have to get back to work, so I won't know until later."

So now I'm curious... What was I suspicious about? Why did I feel said mysterious suspicion was confirmed? Did I ever find out? Was I right?

Anyway, we'll see how I feel when I get to page 129.
