Series Read: The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
That's good to know about Summer Knight. I'm going to try to squeeze that one in before the end of the year. It might be my New Year's Eve snuggle-and-a-hot-cocoa book. :)
Logan, I'm up to Summer Knight, as well. I just started the audio for it!I really like when the fairies are front and center in this series - I think Butcher's take on them is really interesting (and Mab is scary!).

Like x1000! I can't wait for you guys to read Dead Beat. I hope you like it as much as I did when I first read it!
Well Steven has been busy with a Gaiman book that someone *looks at Ashley* made him promise to read and I've been busy with RL - somehow I have the impression he got the better part of the ordeal - so we left poor Harry untouched for a while. That will change soon enough.
Muahahahahahhaa.I'm actually super bummed that I didn't get a chance to join in on the Neverwhere buddy read. It's my favorite by Gaiman, but the holidays just got way too crazy.
Between library and book swaps, I've got Dresden 5-7 ready to go at home so maybe if I read like the wind I can get through all 3 with my cocoa. :)
Sonia wrote: "Well, I have a confession to make. I was only able to read Coraline since the BRs started. *sigh*"
I always start out the month thinking I have an excellent plan to fit in every book exactly when I need to...and then people interrupt my reading with things like "wanting to see me" and "eating." Harumpf.
LOL! My husband got legit mad at me for wanting to stay home and read on Christmas instead of going to the movies. I was like "um helloooooo I'm busy." :)
I'm even adding a new / different Gaiman book outside of the BR next month. Everyone suggests I should read Anansi Boys after Neverwhere and before American Gods, so I'm gonna go for it!
I've got Death Masks from audible ready to go, just after I finish Summer Knight. My newest hobby is to go around the house with headphones, so communication with my family has become a little bit of a struggle, like "hm, what?" and so on :). But I love it anyway.
I finished Summer Knight. So far it was one of my favourite, the more classic detective story than dark and gory fight of good and evil. Now I'm in 30% of Death Masks. The Red Court is back, there are some terrible force in work, angels and fallen and some occult groups. I cannot stop listening :). And Marsters is a real master of narrating, his differentiating of voices is marvelous. I just loved the way he reads various characters! And he seems to be really into the story. A masterpiece!
Ugh, Amima, you've made me start considering what other book to boot to at least try starting that Dresden book if it's as good as you say!
I've finished Death Masks. It was, as usually,well-structured, with a lot of action, interesting plot and my favourite part - Harry's sense of humour despite various difficulties and dangers he is exposed to. Still, I prefered Summer Knight, my definitely favourite so far. I gave Death Masks five stars for the humour mainly :). Now I think I need a little break as I've listened to three books in three days. Time to give Harry some space and me some time to start miss him LOL
I'm halfway through Death Masks, and I forgot how much I like this entry into the series. The Knights are so interesting!I don't like the Red Court stuff as much as some others, but I'm not super into vampires as a general rule so that doesn't surprise me. The Archive is one of my favorites, though, so I'm glad we get to learn about Ivy :)
I love (and am saddened by, (view spoiler)) the idea of a 7 year old being the repository of all human knowledge. I crack up every time at the bit where she can't get to the duel meeting because it's past her bed time.
I love how she CHOOSES to pay attention to normal childhood rules, like her bed time, etc, when she really doesn't HAVE TO!!!
Last weekend I managed to get through Summer Knight and Death Masks. I preferred Summer Knight, as I thought the fae were pretty badass. I loved the Knights and the whole Shroud thing in Death Masks, but something just fell flat for me overall. I wish I cared more about Susan, but I just don't.LOVED Ivy, though. KITTY!! Poor Mister.
I'm in 50% of Blood Rites and it is intriguing so far, but somehow this notion of war between various vampire courts is not getting to me. I'm waiting for some new, unexpected character as Harry's foe. (view spoiler)

I know! That part is really funny.
Sue might be my favorite part of the entire series.

Not at all, because I also have a huge crush on Graphic Novel Harry (GNH is monogrammed on my heart). Tall, dark, and magic? Sounds good to me! He can take me for rides on his zombie T-Rex.
Ok, I finished Blood Rites, and eventhough I loved all the personal twists, I wasn't very impressed by the vampires - curse part of the story. Still, Harry is magnetic as usually and I'm on to Dead Beat from audible this weekend :)
I finally started listening to Storm Front on audio (yes, I'm a bit slow on the uptake!) and am really enjoying it so far. There have been a few parts that have made me laugh out loud which is very rare in an audio book. James Masters really makes the main character.
Finished
.I guess is an ode to Jim Butcher's talent and genius that I ended up liking the book and giving it four stars because:

Apart for that am I the only one worried about (view spoiler)
OK, so since I said all bad points. Here are the ones that I enjoyed. A LOT
(view spoiler)
That been said, can we start the other one soon? Like soon, soon? This instant, soon?["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I like and agree with all your points Sonia, except two:(view spoiler)
Plus.... SUE! :D
POLKA WILL NEVER DIE!

I have mixed feelings about Sue.
Soooooo....what about
????
Sue FTW, imho. I mean, (view spoiler)As the venerable grand dame of the Dresden Files in this thread, I think you will both enjoy Proven Guilty.
I really like Lasciel, mostly because I think the Denarians are the most interesting bad guys (and by far the scariest because of how diverse their powers are).
Sonia, I always assumed (view spoiler)
I finished Proven Guilty this morning, and will probably start White Night late this month/early march. Read faster you guyyysssss.

Now I'm in 50% of Summer Knight and I find it refreshing and much lighter, structured in a more "traditional" way, which is definitely good after such a overwhelming experience of the third book.
