I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has that reaction to Michael, loveable though he and his family are ;)
Finished Grave Peril! Oh how I do love Michael. It's so interesting to see the power of faith juxtaposed with magic. Poor Harry really went through the emotional wringer on this one. I've got Summer Knight ready to go but first I have to get going on Magic Bleeds! And finish The Firebird BOM. And The Princess Bride. I got a little buddy read crazy this month! :)

You can do it! :D
Magic Bleeds has been really good so far too! I'm at 75% currently. Loving it and the series. Between it and Dresden, I'm definitely a new addict to Urban Fantasy!!!
Well, I just hadn't read much of it before this year. I guess Sookie was really my first foray, earlier this year. And Harry Potter, which is Urban Fantasy-esque.
Same here Steven. I actually hadn't read any until you guys all started suggesting books! And let's not even get started on YA....
I'm looking for some suggestions with difficult letters titles starting with q, z, x, y as I'm doing my personal YA A-Z challenge for 2014, so any suggestion is welcome! :)
well... you can always check goodreads YA database: https://www.goodreads.com/genres/youn... Either way I may have a few titles for you in a week or so, if you can wait that long :)
I can wait as I intend to start my challenge in January, but I will gladly check other sources as well :) Thanks for the idea.
I have been hanging on to the Vampire Academy series for soooo long. If anyone wants to do a series read next year, I'm in!Some more YA UF I've liked:
Paranormalcy is hilarious. Angel Burn I liked for the cool evil angels. Wicked Lovely is darker, fairy-heavy. The Summoning is a fast read - kids with secret powers. Rampant has killer unicorns. Angelfire has a pretty badass heroine.
Logan, Sonia has been demanding I read Vampire Academy in 2014 so I can be prepared for the movie coming out... so we will be reading those... along with Kate... and Dresden... and Iron Druid... hahahahaha. Lots of buddy/series reads going on! I'll also be working on the Game of Thrones series too, and that's just the buddy reads! Not counting BOMs or my own planned reading!I'll be willing to wager Sonia will set up a thread for Vampire Academy :P
I know, my list is getting out of control! I was planning to re-read GoT but just ran out of time. I will be joining up with you guys when you get to A Clash of Kings. I had almost forgotten about the movie! Definitely must read it before then. :)
Next month will be busy!More Dresden, the next Kate, the first Iron Druid, the first VA, Clash of Kings, and I'm sure I'm forgetting something! :P
I've definitely over extended myself and have had to make calls on dropping some books for the time being!
Alright, I'm game for VA. You guys might actually get me liking it ;) And Wicked Lovely is absolutely my fav YA paranormal series. I have all those books.
I loved
it was one of the most surprising reads for me this year
And I keep meaning to get to the VA series....

Uhmmm... OK... So during lunch hpour I'll be working on a thread called new year new series read with a list of the ones we talked about so far so we can have some kind of planning. That way we'll have a place to discuss which series to read next *grins*
draft list posted.Feel free to add suggestions, and if I forget any, so, so sorry. I'll be back to it this saturday.
I also want to make a list of our currently reading series, so is easier to track.
Btw, The vampire Academy series already had a buddy read, since the series has a few years, so, I'm going to make a new one with links to the former discussions, OK?
Is all for now, since I have to get back to work *sad face*
Tomorrow I'll have this all-day-team-meeting-and-bonding event, so no goodreads for me *even sadder face*
Sonia, thanks for putting this together, have a good time at work, even if without goodreads (I know what you mean, btw, the day without gd is a lost day). *good vibes to you*
I need to read Dresden faster so that I can keep up with all of you and actually participate in the discussion. I'm afraid to comment further ahead than I've recently reread in case I accidentally spoiler something :/That said, my favorite description in all of literature might be that Marcone's eyes are the color of money.
ANYWAY. Just wanted to drop in my two cent recommendation of a YA UF series:
Well hurry it up then, Ash! Sonia and I are through book six, and everyone else is between books three and five I believe. :)GO GO GO!
I should be done with 2 today/early tomorrow (the Dresden Files is my commuting series on audio!), so I can start 3 before the holidays really get underway!I'm excited to get through the early ones. I'm struggling a little with patience because I know just how great the series gets soon, and I'm frustrated with them just being really good at the start!
No pressure there Ash... Haha!
I am up to Death Masks (5) but I just can't find a spot to fit it. So many BRs and Lisarenee has a busy RL at the moment so I'm trying to do more BOMs too. Hopefully over Christmas I will get some free time to sit back down with Harry :)

Oh, I have exactly the same plan, Karen, I'm going to listen to books 3 and 4 before the end of the year :)
Yeah I'm up to book five as well, but I know it's not going to be before Christmas ;) I just don't prioritise books with having a solid date to start. Thanks Sonia for putting together that new thread. It looks great so far!
Just finished Death Masks All I can say is poor Harry!
Love Bob and all the other characters mentioned Great series.

Looks good Sonia!
Something is bugging me.If you haven't read Blood Rites stay away from the spoiler tag - Consider yourself warned
(view spoiler)
Now that's going to nag at me, Sonia! I remember that it matters, but I can't remember how...Must re-read faster!
Sonia wrote: "Faster! Faster! Faster!Steven, we need to read
soon!!!"Yes! I forgot Neverwhere AND Steelheart both start on the 20th, so I'm going to have to tear through Game of Thrones if I want to finish it before then...
So maybe after Christmas we can read Dead Beat?!
I'm in 20% in Grave Peril and love it, a lot of action from the very beginning and I really like Micheal and Susan in relation to Harry!
May 27th is when the 15th Dresden book comes out.
Skin Game is the 15th in the series.
