Removed Forest of Souls. This is not an adult book.

Deceit and Other Possibilities was published a few years back - at least the one in my library says 2016. Is it being reissued? Not sure how that works. But thanks for keeping this tradition up!PS - This is a white author, but I do think the topic is rather perfect for people interested in this list. I'll let the creator decide, but here's the link: Genre and White Supremacy in the Postemancipation United States It talks about how literary tradition is falling behind the real world as reviewers and literary critics don't know how to handle new voices and ideas. (I have no idea if it's going to be any good. I tripped over it and it sounds very interesting to me.) We'll see how it turns out.
I took over this list from Beverly, who didn't want to do it this year, so I didn't make too many changes. I excluded YA because there are a ton of YA lists already. I mentioned that the initial publication date should be 2020, but that's flexible. I would say in English, at least. There are lots of books originally published in other languages that are getting their first English release in 2020.
Removed a handful of children's and YA titles. Also, this is not an appropriate list for self-published works.
Rainbowheart wrote: "Kay, this list is not restricted to authors of color."Hey, thanks for confirming. Always assumed it was a list comprised of AOC.
I just discovered that someone deleted American Dirt apparently due to personal dislike of the book, which is against Librarian rules and has been reported to Goodreads management.
What a great list! Many thanks for compiling it. Will stick with 2020 list for now as there are many here I want to read.
