message 1: by Sophia (new)

Sophia Babai Hi! I was an early reviewer for True Romantics by Sarah Lyu, and while I absolutely love it, there are no LGBT themes -- just wanted to let you know. :)

message 2: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Thanks for the heads up, Sophia! I removed that one.

message 3: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Isn't Queen of Air and Darkness coming out December this year unless I missed something?

message 4: by Dahlia (new)

Dahlia I can't add it because I'm the "author," but FWIW His Hideous Heart has a bunch of queer narrators (including mine).

message 5: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Thanks, guys! I removed Queen of Air and Darkness and added His Hideous Heart.

message 6: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Shadows You Left. No NA on this list, please.

message 7: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Changing Ways. This is a 2018 release.

message 8: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Reverie, which got pushed to 2020.

message 9: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Red, White and Royal Blue. Per the author, this is adult fiction, not YA.

message 10: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed The Friend System. Looks like this got pushed to 2020.

message 11: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed The Stars Around Us and Rise as One, which both got pushed to 2020.

message 12: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Shotwell Hello,
My YA book (which is a Goodreads book), No Doubt In My Mind, has a prominent gay character and because the book takes place in 1968, it gives a rare historical perspective. I hope you'll include it on your list. Thanks so much!

message 13: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed There Goes Sunday School. This is a 2018 release.

message 14: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Heartstopper: Volume One and Grimm Tales: Rise of the Yokai, which have original publication dates of 2018. Also removed Red, White & Royal Blue again. This is adult fiction.

message 15: by Kristīne (new)

Kristīne Vītola Hey, could you please update this and other lists with the same tags and description additions as for 2018 list ? I just think the explicit inclusion of other queer identities beyond only L, G, B and Ts would better reflect the content of these lists and also allow them to show up if one of the at the moment not explicitly included identities are searched on goodreads as tags.
(Possible change of titles to LGBTQIA+ or LGBT+ would be ideal, of course, if possible… :) )

message 16: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart I prefer to keep the title of the list the same, but I updated the tags so it can more easily be found by people searching for queer-oriented YA. :)

message 17: by Giselle (new)

Giselle Monique Rainbowheart wrote: "Removed Heartstopper: Volume One and Grimm Tales: Rise of the Yokai, which have original publication dates of 2018. Also removed Red, White & Royal Blue again. This is adult fiction."

Why did you remove Heartstopper? Is it because it's a Graphic Novel?

message 18: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart No, graphic novels are always welcome! I removed the first volume of Heartstopper because it was originally released in 2018. The second volume releases in 2019, though.

Heartstopper Volume Two by Alice Oseman

message 19: by Sheila (new)

Sheila Shotwell Is it too late to have a book added to the 2018 list?

message 20: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Not at all! Feel free to add books to the 2018 list. Just make sure they are YA/MG and have an original publication date of last year.

message 21: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Brooklyn Brujas #3, which got pushed to 2020, along with a few other non-2019 releases.

message 22: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Loveless, Semper Augustus, and When We Were Magic, which all got pushed to 2020. Also removed Last Night at the Telegraph Club, current publication date unknown.

message 23: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed A Home for Dogs and Goddesses, which got pushed to 2020.

message 24: by Amelia (new)

Amelia I love the amount of LGBT+ books coming out in 2019. It makes me so happy!

message 25: by Laina (last edited Apr 12, 2019 02:00PM) (new)

Laina SpareTime A Place for Wolves should probably be removed since it's not being published anymore.

Also you should maybe change at least the description on this since some of these books feature other identities than "gay, lesbian, bisexual, and trans". As an aroace, I do not use gay as an umbrella term.

message 26: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Birdie and Me, Only Mostly Devastated, Each of Us a Desert, and The Mermaid, the Witch and the Sea, which all got pushed to 2020. Also deleted a few other titles for wrong category, wrong publication year.

message 27: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Martin McLean, Middle School Queen, which got pushed to 2020. Also deleted The Astrolabe. No NA on this list, please.

message 28: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed some adult titles and also had to delete several non-2019 releases. Please make sure that books added to this list are specifically YA and have a first publication date of 2019.

message 29: by Ian (new)

Ian Comstock This Was Our Pact, by Ryan Andrews needs to be removed. Just finished reading it on my tablet. Although it's a good graphic novel, there are no LGBT elements (or even any romance) involved in the plot.

message 30: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Thanks for the heads up! For some reason, Amazon had marked it as "LGBT," but it looks like it isn't after all.

message 31: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Removed Fabiola & Ylini, A Boy Like Her, and Children of the River Ghost, current publication dates unknown.

message 32: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Thanks for the heads up! I removed The Disasters.

message 33: by Greenglasses (new)

Greenglasses Is The Black Flamingo on this list?

message 34: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Yes, it's currently #138.

message 35: by Greenglasses (new)

Greenglasses okay thanks!

message 36: by Rainbowheart (new)

Rainbowheart Just had to remove several more non-2019 releases.
