8565 This is a thread where you can reserve the letters which you are reading to knock that block off. I will keep track on the master list which letters people are working on.

Here are the rules:

Scripts Tower
To read a total of 104 books with the following categories:
a. First name of author starting with the letter… (A-Z)
b. Last name of author starting with the letter … (A-Z)
c. First word in title starting with the letter… (A-Z) (ignoring the, a, & an)
d. Name (of a person / character) in title starting with the letter… (A-Z)

For the hard letters (Q, X, Z) an exception is being made for the word / name to contain the letter (rather than starting with).

Clarification on 'd' - the intent is for the name in title to refer to a person's name. For example, The Winter Rose may not count as it references to a flower whilst Rose by Any Other Name counts as the Rose here is actually a character in the book. It still counts if Rose is not really a character in the book but only if you can justify that it is a name of a person rather than a flower. Only First Names and ignore series name (subtitle okay)
There is no limitation to page numbers / editions.

Further clarification of item d from Tien - My apologies to all as it seems I have not been able to explain coherently what I'm looking for with the 'name in title' issue. As I said previously, the intention is for a person's name however I'll provide you all with a rule of thumb instead (which may prompt some of you to review your choices) and that is...

"Is it a name which you would name your child by? If yes, then by all means..."

Please only reserve 3 at a time.

Makes sense. :)

So I guess we shouldn't reserve any years..."

That is what I am asking everyone to do on the Shelves and Scripts Tower planning threads.

Susan and Amy - I am going to mark you off for those shelves on the Shelves Tower planning thread. That way you will have them reserved and if we find they are misses, I will make a note later.

8565 Tien wrote: "well, lots of good guesses but what's with the preference with shelves tower?"

That's what I thought, lol. Makes it harder for the rest of us.

8565 Although there are still two Snakes & Ladders winners to make their choices, I am going to go ahead and open the thread back up. Just be advised, if one of those last two people pick a shelf that you have reserved, their choice will take precedence. Please only make three reservations at a time.

Thanks

8565 Susan wrote: "Could the reserved shelves be marked here somehow, so the rest of us don't accidentally pick one of them to read? Or maybe just a list of the reserved ones?"

Susan, the reserved shelves will be marked off on the planning thread by me as I will be coordinating the shelves tower. Here is the link to the planning thread.

LOST - 2013 (194 new)

8565 @Bea - wow sounds like you have had quite a few months. I hope things improve for you all soon.

As for Les Mis - I don't have a good excuse, and I am pretty sure that I read less than any if you did, lol. I like the idea of the read-a-longs, though. It works really well for the Chunksters.

LOST - 2013 (194 new)
Dec 20, 2012 05:09PM

8565 Is the book very different from the movie?

Sooooo - I'm pretty sure that I can just copy my 2012 list and be good. That's how bad I did on the 2012 challenges.

as stated, here is the list. I only read one from my list last year, lol.
1. The Secret Life of Bees finished 4/29/2013 4.5 stars
2. The Poisonwood Bible
3. The Kite Runner
4. Amagansett by Mark Mills
5. The Fire
6. The Mists of Avalon
7. The Street of a Thousand Blossoms
8. I Am the Messenger
9. The Way of the Traitor
10. Déjà Dead
Dec 20, 2012 05:06PM

8565 Oh, Dee, you crack me up, lol. I love how eager you are. I haven't even thought of starting yet. ;p
Dec 11, 2012 02:04PM

8565 Don't forget to leave quotes from your books, too!
Dec 10, 2012 03:35PM

8565 I enjoy him, too, Lynn. I am hoping to get to The Well of Lost Plots.
8565 I agree, a steampunk Dracula might be really interesting.

I do, I do....I am thinking January. December is horrible for me and I don't think I will even finish one book. ;(
