And for those of you who do not care for paranormal romance, these books have little to no romance in them.

That's what I thought, too, but I couldn't find a translation that I liked in e-format.

I know, it isn't available in e-book form at all. I actually couldn't find an e-reader copy that I liked, so I went and bought the paperback.

That sounds like a great schedule, I will check out your blog for the "official" one. Which version are you reading?

What is your favorite Neil Gaiman?
Neverwhere is one of my favorite books.

I would love to read the unabridged edition. Just let me know which edition you all pick and I will get a copy of it. How quickly are you all planning to read it?

I love Urban Fantasy. It is one of my favorite genres. For any of you that have not read them, I would love to recommend
Storm Front, or any of the other Dresden File books by
Jim Butcher. It is my favorite series of all time and the one that made me fall in love with Urban Fantasy.
For my choice/choices I will read
At Grave's End and maybe either
Shadow of Night or.
Dreamfever? Happy reading all

Enjoying those books on ancient history? Leave a quote letting us know what it was like in times long past.

Sorry this is late, but have fun listing the quotes from your favorite Aussie books. And hopefully you can relax and read the books with a Foster's and some shrimp from the barby!

Ohh, Australian. I can get behind that. Although I am just a wannabe Aussie, not the genuine article like Tien. My faves are:
Historical Fiction:
Bryce Courtenay, I have his trilogy (
The Potato Factory,
Tommo and Hawk, and
Solomon's Song) and have wanted to re-read them forever.
Mystery: Of course, I second
Matthew Reilly,
Temple is a great one. I also like
The Broken Shore and
Truth by
Peter Temple.
I also love
Geraldine Brooks and
People of the Book is one of my favorites.
For me, I think I will go for
Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague by
Geraldine Brooks,
A Town Like Alice by
Nevil Shute, and/or
The Power of One by
Bryce Courtenay

Thanks for the link, Susan. I loved reading through the discussion.

Great discussion Susan, Bea, and D.G. I think either ingenuous or ingenious could apply to Tom and Huck, lol.

Oh Lord! People are nuts! They wa..."You are correct, it does criticize it, and I'm willing to bet that a good number of the people in that movement had never even read the book.

D.G. - Mark Twain is one of my favorite writers and I rally love Tom Sawyer. I have always agreed that it is banned because of the racism, so it is interesting to have you include the other. Did you know that about 5 years ago there was a movement to "rewrite" Mark Twain's books to remove all of the references to slaves and the N word?

Man, June just snuck up on me, lol.

Here is the chance to sound off by posting your favorite quotes from the banned books that you read. While your at it, any idea why the book you are reading is banned? Some of the reasons are pretty obscure. Let us know what you think!

Man - I better get the quote thread up,huh?

Wow, I just looked at the list and I think I have read about 75% of the books listed on the first two pages. I must like banned books. I think for this month I will try to get to:
The Kite Runner by
Khaled Hosseini since it is on my LOST list
Other than that, I'm sure I will be reading something during the month that is on the banned shelf, so we shall see.

We've missed you Lauren! Glad your back and that things are looking up!

Great choice, D.G.. I just looked, though, and I have already read about 90% of the books on the first two pages, lol. There are several good choices still on the list, though.
