S: Skippy Dies
V: Citizen Vince"
So - I read your comment in the Battle Plan thread. Are you withdrawing Skippy Dies since Skippy is a nickname?

I definitely wouldn't name my kid 'Quijote' but that is the name of the character. Does that mean that I ..."

Actually, I think you are off the hook on this one, lol. As I re-read the rule, last names are not allowed, and the character's name is actually Don Juan Quixote, right? So Quixote is his last name. I admit, this is becoming much harder than I originally thought it would be. :)
that said, I am leaving you with the character's name Q as you said that you found others that fit. Is that still the case?

Darcy - I love the Thursday Next books by Jasper Fforde. Unfortunately, we are still deciding on the rules for the character name in title, but as it stands now, the rule is:
Tien said.. My apologies to all as it seems I have not been able to explain coherently what I'm looking for with the 'name in title' issue. As I said previously, the intention is for a person's name however I'll provide you all with a rule of thumb instead (which may prompt some of you to review your choices) and that is...
"Is it a name which you would name your child by? If yes, then by all means..."
As I read this, the name Thursday is not a valid person's name even though it is the character's name.

OK, As I read this now, the following are no longer allowed:
Skippy Dies (although I don't intend to read through the reviews of a book on a consistent basis to see if a name is a nickname or the characters given name.)
One of our Thursdays are missing. Very few people would name their child Thursday, and I won't even pretend to be up on all the weird names that someone has used to see if the name is reasonable or not.
Bitterblue - definitely not a normal name, even though it is the character's name. In this case the person has already moved their reservation to book title.

tien - Sorry, I presumed that the character's name in the story was okay. I did look at the one's listed and it seemed that those characters actually went by that name. I will go back and revise the ones that seem to be questionable and keep checking here to see if there are any changes.

D.G. I saw this group in your groups :) :)"
Welcome to the group Karen. I called you Karen2 in the shelf planning for scripts and shelves so that I could keep the Karen's straight. Hope that is okay.
And just so you know, Tien is the most creative, imaginative, challenge deviser ever!

1. I apologize that I am not on line as much as some people, but I promise to log in at least once each day to check the thread. As of this time, I will post a message telling you what the last post I have updated for is.
2. Please check the master list at the beginning of this thread to see what choices have already been reserved before making your choices. It might be good to also check any posts made after my post telling you what the last post I have updated for is as I will be reserving items in the order that they are posted.
3. The only exception to #2 is in the case of the LAST Snakes & Ladders winner, who has yet to make their initial choices. Their initial 5 choices supersede all others, so once that person has made their choices, I will let you know if it changes any of the choices that have already been reserved.
Thanks

A:title"
Jean already asked for last name "P" in message 24."
Thanks for letting her know, Susan, but please wait for me to let people know of conflicts as there are some extenuating circumstances that may come into play.
Thanks :)

You are making the rest of us look bad, lol. Not really. But I could never hope to be as prepared as you are. I am in awe!

Done, and I am calling you Karen Booklover, just so that I don't get confused.

Title: "W" for A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
First Name: "W" for Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner
Last Name: "P" for This Burns My Heart by Samuel Park"
As Susan said, Jean, Title beginning with W has already been reserved by Jo-Ann in post number 20 above. The list should now be updated if you want to pick another one.

Yes, Lahnii - Group members who finished last year's Snakes & Ladders challenge got to make 5 guesses each and were told the results without reading the book. Just a perk for finishing the challenge. If their guess was a miss, we got to report the shelf as "knocked off", if it was not a miss, then they have to read a book from that shelf after January 1.
Hope that helps. :)
