35559 OK, I've read through these suggestion and I can save time by saying I agree with everything Eldarwen said in any of her previous posts. lol Literally. So just double her suggestions for me.

I remember feeling that the theme goals were really YA/sci-fi oriented. Nothing for non-fiction. Nothing for historical novels, that we got, anyway. No plays or poetry.

We kept getting South/Central American authors and settings, and I had a bunch of Middle Eastern & African authors/books I needed to be reading. Did we just not get those goals or were they not included?

I actually didn't mind seeing goals repeat, in general. But I, too, got tired of the Amazon/Book Depository lists. It pretty much seemed like we kept using Harry Potter for every list we got. In fact we could have just had one person each round read as much HP as they could and that would have satisfied those lists.

Also, having to read books from any list limits people like me who can't afford to buy books. We have to have it already or get what's available from the library, and often there weren't any from the lists that I could get. I've had the same problem with Listopia lists for challenges. That's not to say you shouldn't use lists, just try not to use so many they squeeze folks like me out, please. :)

And I read lots of older books where you only have the year they were published. So I would have liked to see some goals using year first published, instead of day. And go back to the 1700's, even earlier with general time periods.

Did you have goals about reading certain numbers in a series? I know some people won't read a series out of order, but I will.

Overall I thought the choices of tasks were great. Sometimes we'd get one where I'd think "No way could I ever find a book to fit that goal", but someone on the team would snatch it up. So the variety was fun.

35559 I want to play! This look like great fun.

35559 I've finished my last book. lol The improbably named A Bride's Portrait of Dodge City, Kansas, will work for two goals. Either "Author's name starts with V" or "strong presence of lawmen", since both the male leads are sheriff's deputies.

It's been way too much fun. I have no idea how I'll decide what to read after this. :) The mods and team members have been great!

Team Maximus

I've almost finished Kiss an Angel, where a girl who's never worked before ends up working for a circus. There's a quote, "Brady searched her out to argue about politics and bully her about improving her muscle tone by lifting weights." Would that work for getting in shape? As I read this book I can feel her muscles screaming at the unaccustomed work. lol

No Problem. :) I just didn't want someone reading toward it thinking it wasn't done.

I have a headache and am going to bed. I'll finish my book for the "perfect square number" goal tomorrow, if we still need it. Goals are going fast. :) I never know what I'll find here when I get up.

35559 I've finished The Grub-And-Stakers Move a Mountain for "green text on cover".

I'm working on "pages add up to a perfect square number".

Catherine said she's almost done w/Artichokes.

Not "yelling" just trying to keep this from getting lost in all the posts, as I've posted it twice already. :) You guys are awesome. I can't even read the goals correctly half the time. lol

35559 I can do the perfect cube if I have time. I have several book with 216 pages, and they don't take long to read. But if people want to boon it I won't object. Whatever works for the team. I would suggest people organize their TBR list by page # and check first, though. I was surprised how many books came up.

ETA - I haven't started the "title in green" book yet, so someone else can have that if they want. It will be a quick read, but I understand that everyone would like to get one last goal in, and I'm flexible. :)

35559 I requested Kiss an Angel a while back because I knew it took place in a circus and thought it might have an animal we need. It just showed up today. It doesn't have "giraffe", but it does have "artichoke". Go figure. I should be able to finish it and the others I've already mentioned before the deadline. (Doesn't have "chow down".)
