It was good but I enjoyed the on going plot more than Caleb and Lily's story. Although I did think Caleb and Lily were Hott. Lily at times bored me a little. And what is with all these prophets going bad. I can't wait for Janie's Story. God I love this whole series... one of my favorites I hope Janie's story isn't the last! I wish that this story was longer!

Tamed by Rebecca Zanetti
Book 6.5 in the Dark Protectors series. Paranormal vampire romance. Best read as part of the series. Second chance troupe
Lily and Caleb are reunited after several hundred years. Both are Prophets that forced their lives to go in different directions. Now they can be together again, but other Prophets don’t have happy news for them. Do they care this time around? Should they take their relationship further or walk away?
Well, they don’t walk away! It’s not a spoiler, it’s a romance. And a very sexy and hot one at that.
Read as part of the series continuity. Good story but stressful pressure on the couple.

The narrator did a good job with the emotions of the characters.

“You’re the only woman I’ve ever wanted badly enough to burn.”

Let's take a close look at the world of prophets. Not that they are too many really. There are three Realm prophets left:

1. Lily Sotheby who became a prophet when her husband died. She is lonely for more than 300 years. And she still has feelings for Caleb.

“So. Rumor has it you want to get laid.”

2. Caleb Donovan who became a prophet when Prophet Milner died (yes, there is a pattern here). He hates being a prophet and he is truly a vampire and a soldier. And he has wanted Lily for centuries.

“You want to get to it right here or go outside?”

3. And the odd one out, the arrogant Prophet Guiles.

Now the war between species has reached a point where the leaders can talk about peace and the prophets will be involved in negotiations.
While all three of them are tortured with strange visions, there is only one question they are asking themselves:

Can sometimes Fate get it wrong?

Prepare yourself for hot moments between Lily and Caleb:

Warm and firm, his lips covered hers. Burning hotter than possible, lava flowed through her veins, through her flesh. His touch singed her with need and hunger.

The book sets the final details for the book of Janie Kayrs, Zane and Kalin and it is time for Janie to finally meet Fate.

Once again I wish the book was longer. But there are lots of details in this short novella and if you read the series with deference and passion (like me!), you do not want to miss this book.

Meh...

It was ok.

The second chance aspect did not bother me. They dated briefly, she was told to marry another so she did. Her mate died in 2 weeks. He moved on but still loved her. 3 CENTURIES later they get back together. I can deal with that.

Anyway, Lily was just to buttoned up for me. And I did not get Caleb.

I am glad I read it for the plot continuation, but I really have little feeling for the MCs.

5 - "So. Rumor has it you want to get laid." Stars.

Having just finished Tamed, after pretty much reading the entire dark protectors series in the last month I can unequivocally say that this is my number one favourite Series of all time. 2014 has been the year of Rebecca Zanetti for me having discovered her writing, and now I am at that unenviable point where I am waiting for her future releases, as I have literally devoured everything she has ever written in the last couple of months.

My only gripe with Tamed and it is the same gripe I have had with all 3 of the Dark Protectors novellas is that there is enough going on with the story, and characters as a whole that Caleb and Lily could have had a full length book. That said, I loved what I was given and will be waiting impatiently for Marked to be released in December.

Caleb and Lily have been circling around each other pretty much since the beginning of this series. Lily chose duty over love over three centuries ago, and left Caleb to marry a man of her father’s choosing. However in that time, she has been widowed, subsequently become a prophet and been infected by the Kurjan Virus, which has caused her to lose her husband’s marking. As such, she is free, single and ever-so-ready –to-mingle.

The untouchable just became touchable.

Caleb has wanted Lily from the beginning, but has kept his distance…off fighting the war and now trying to come to terms with his new role of Prophet for the Realm, there hasn’t been a lot of time for romance. But now with the three prophets coming together to oversee the peace talks, the time for avoidance is over.

”When you’re in a room, you’re all I see.”

The climax of this series is approaching fast, and a lot goes on in Tamed, with the Kayrs family trying to protect, what the Demons and the Kurjans are desperately trying to get hold of. The one thing that binds them all together, and gives them a purpose… Janie Kayrs.

”This year is the year it all happens. Whatever it is, I’ve always known the prophecy come true while I’m twenty-five, which I am right now.”

It was good to see Caleb and Lily get their story; Rebecca as always gives the reader a sexy, sensual and engrossing story, I have fallen a little in love with each and every couple in this series and these two are no exception. Things never are as cut and dried as they seem in a Rebecca Zanetti book, and once again she took Lily and turned her from sweet, demure and peace-loving prophet into a kick-ass, take no prisoners woman.

”You’ve underestimated me, bitch.”

I loved seeing old-fashioned, demure ‘Prophet Lil’ shake off her skirts and morph into the woman she has always secretly aspired to be. Standing up to Caleb, demanding that he treats her as an equal and not a breakable piece of china in all aspects of life. And after putting love and sex on hold for the last couple of hundred years it was really very entertaining in parts, and reading her discovery of how sex can really be with the right man was downright hot!

”You can hide from the world behind a polite smile and sophisticated small talk, but I see the woman beneath the prophet. The one who told fate to fuck off.”

It is with a little bit of sadness that I finish this review, I have submerged myself in this series and the Kayrs family as a whole for pretty much most of the last month, and I am going to miss them all, this series offers you the full package not one emotion or feeling is left out along the way… I don’t know what I am going to do with myself between now and December. I am excited to see Janie, Kane and Kalin finally have their story told in Marked, I just hope Rebecca has a little inspiration left in the tank to make sure Garrett gets his time in the spotlight too. I really don’t want this series to end.

I love reading, the Author, her writing, and this series encompasses everything I love about books.

Tamed
is a novella in the Dark Protectors series, centering on vampires, but you don’t have to read the other books to enjoy this story.

Lily and Caleb are Prophets, which from what I gather are sort of vampire guides for the supernatural races. Three centuries ago, they were young and in love and would’ve mated had Lily’s father not arranged another marriage for her. Two weeks after marriage Lily’s husband was murdered but being mated, she couldn’t be with anyone else until a virus changes all of that and removes the mating bonds freeing her up to be with anyone she desires.

Caleb is a warrior first but also a Prophet. He’s only been in love with one woman, Lily but his chance at happiness with her was obliterated when she chose duty over love. Now they’re thrown together as part of peace talks between enemy supernatural creatures and their past attraction comes back with a vengeance.

“The last time I felt this desperate for a woman, I was young—barely an adult.”
She hummed and ran a soft hand across his chest. “Lucky woman.”
He started, his heart beating hard enough she had to feel it.
“It was you, Lil. You’re the only woman I’ve ever wanted badly enough to burn.”

The tone and feel of this story reminds me of The Black Dagger Brotherhood series which I’m a big fan of. I loved that Caleb and Lily get a second chance at romance, and their chemistry was off the charts. Caleb knows and loves the untamed Lily underneath the cool and calm, businesslike façade she projects and is a pro at bringing the real woman out. Lily reminds Caleb that there’s more to life than fighting, and he can’t help the possessive and protective feelings he has over Lily.

There’s action, danger, and a conspiracy along with this romance and the issues that face the vampire race are not resolved. This is a continuing story arc with a different romance in each book. I’ve had a little taste of this series through Caleb and Lily’s story and I’m definitely impressed. Rebecca Zanetti has a talent for writing super hot romantic suspense in both the contemporary and paranormal genres!

A copy was provided by Kensington through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I really liked Lilly a lot in the previous book Shadowed. We saw just enough of her to tease and then we were given a full viewing in Tamed. I loved every moment of it, I just wanted more. This book opens so many paths to the conclusion of the series. It is preparing the setting for what appears to be the big showdown that centers around Janie, the vampire king’s niece.

Caleb courted Lilly three hundred years ago before her parents forced her into an arranged mating. Now, due to the virus the vampire’s enemy has created, Lilly is no longer bound to her mate who died a short time after they came together. I enjoyed watching Lilly come into her own as she struggled against her beliefs and what she could trust as truth or deception.

Caleb is a typical alpha vampire who is also a soldier of the Realm and just so happens to have recently been fated as a prophet. It’s a job he does not want nor acknowledges. Once he has a chance to be with Lilly again there is no turning back for him. He is in it all the way and he doesn’t hide that fact from her.

Filled with great secondary characters, humor, steamy sex, suspense and even a twist I didn’t really see coming, Tamed lives up to the high standards I have now set for not only this series but for this author.

I would suggest this be read after Shadowed

“You’ve underestimated me bitch”

Tamed (Dark Protectors) Rebecca Zanetti

Once I started Tamed I literally could not put it down. I was drawn into the story from the first page. Janie and Hilde were on a mission to get Lily laid. This was a girl’s night out without vampires and guards which Janie also needed desperately. The scene plays out humorously with Hilde letting Lily know how lucky she was to get a second chance at love or even sex for that matter. You see once mated to a vampire it’s for life. Even if your mate dies. Neither surviving mate can be intimate without inflicting a horrible reaction. Lily even though mated to a vampire who died two weeks after their bonding centuries ago, had recently come in contact with the virus V-27 created by their enemies to unravel chromosomes but it also took away the physical repercussions of vampire mating’s. Basically unmating them and allowing them to touch another without inflicting a horrible reaction to them both. During their banter back and forth Janie happens to mention Caleb Donovan was supposed to arrive at headquarters in a few days, which sent Lily’s blood and heart pounding. She always got this reaction when his name was mentioned or he was around.

You see there is history between Caleb and Lily. Caleb a soldier/warrior was off battling a war and had all intentions of returning to claim Lily. Much to his dismay Lily chose duty over love and mated with the Vampire chosen by her family. For the next three centuries Caleb was soldier/warrior and known as the Realm Rebel. Until fate would have it, he was at the right place at the wrong time and was marked as a prophet. Caleb considered himself anything but a prophet and how could fate play such a dirty trick on him. Now that he was one of the three prophets sent to broker a peace treaty with the Kujans, demons and Vampires his emotions regarding Lily came flooding back.

When the girl’s little escapade in the bar backfired and they started a brawl Lily froze in her spot when Caleb and Dage walked through the door. My favorite line at this juncture of the story was when Caleb said “So. Rumor has it you want to get laid”. I lost it.

As the story progresses you realize Caleb still has it bad for Lily, and Lily even questions her decision so many centuries ago to choose duty over her heart. Well things start to change when Lily comes to Caleb’s apartment after having a repeat of her nightmares. Unbeknownst to her Caleb is also having nightmarish visions. When she finally opens up and talks about her dreams and learns Caleb is having similar visions he promises her they’ll work it out and he doesn’t hold a lot of credence to fate.

When she stays the night and a kiss turns into much more you know right then they are lost to each other never to make the same mistake from centuries before. While Caleb was pleasuring Lily at one point and she started to make a comment, Caleb looked up at her just as her eyes crossed making him bite his lip so he wouldn’t start laughing out loud. Well I literally laughed out loud. It was the cutest scene. I know you’re probably wondering how can this read be cute. Well there are some light hearted moments which makes this seem so real. Most readers will definitely relate.
The other scene where Lily is actually confronted by Fate herself (so she thinks) and is shown things that crush her and may force her to make decisions she may not want to make, her comment to Fate when she stands up to her is “You’ve underestimated me bitch”, had me fist pumping. The meek Lily is no more. The real Lily starts to surface and she’s totally a kick ass woman.

Guiles the other prophet you learn is really a wuss and sells out Lily to save his own skin. When Dage and Caleb are on a rescue mission to bring back Lily, Caleb levels with the King and tells him about the nightmares/visions they’ve all had regarding Janie. The twist here involving Guiles will blow you away. I was floored.

The most touching scene and it grabbed my heart was when Caleb gave Lily the actual birthday present he had for her. It was a photo album of pictures Caleb had taken over time of things that reminded him of Lily. Yes a tear fell from my eyes.

Now the bonus scene will totally blow you away. Think about it. Lily from birth has carried a burden on her shoulders knowing she had a major role in destiny that could change the world for good or bad. When she relaxes her mind and hopes to access a vision she enters her, for lack of words happy place, a beach, warm sand where she could invite or not invite who she pleased. She chose to be alone, to think and it is here she actually meets Fate. The conversation they have is amazing. A lesson to be learned here for all of us. We all have choices it just depends which road we want to take and with those choses there could be consequences be it adverse or good. No one can tell us what to do, that is something we all decide on our own. What can I say I loved this book. I’m very anxious for her next release “Marked” we’ll finally see how this plays out between Janie, Zane and Kalin. And what was/is her destiny. Based on a comment in the bonus scene will Janie have to kill either Zane or Kalin to save the world? I guess we have to wait and see.

Preparations are underway for peace talks between the supernatural races, and it’s time for Caleb and Lily to finally face up to their destiny. And it's a great ride!

300 years ago, Lily chose duty over love when she agreed to an arranged mating with a prophet of the Realm. It was only a few weeks later when her mate was killed, and his role as prophet was passed on to her. Since that time she has embraced her role and has worked hard to provide guidance, counsel and help to those in need. His death also left her supernaturally bound to a dead vampire and unable to so much as touch another male. Luckily, she contracted Virus 27 which essentially dissolved her mating and she suddenly finds herself a free woman for the first time in three centuries.

I really like Lily. She has always seemed so repressed – like she is stuck in an earlier time, with her conservative dress, her super-politeness and her demure nature. And now we finally get to see the real woman is as she begins to explore who she truly is. And what better time for Caleb to come barging back into her life?

“So. Rumor has it you want to get laid.”

God, I love Caleb! Known as ‘The Realm Rebel’, he is a fierce warrior, and he has lived his life on his own terms. Fate dealt him a blow when he became a prophet against his will, and he has tried to reject the role at every opportunity, instead embracing his life as a soldier, and carrying out his role to protect the king. He has had neither the time nor the inclination to look for companionship in his life as he has been unable to move on from the only woman he has ever loved - Caleb lost Lily when she mated all those years ago, but he has never forgotten her. And now that she’s unexpectedly free of her ties, and he has no intention of letting her go again.

“When you’re in a room, you’re all I see.”

I loved watching Caleb and Lily come together. As expected from this series, their love story is intense – I always love a pairing between a strong, determined alpha male and his feisty female. Lily is determined to make Caleb see her as a real woman and not a delicate doll, and the woman certainly knows how to get her message across! (Hot damn!). And as they open up to each other and embrace their second opportunity they are passionate, swoony and beautifully romantic.

But in other news - the peace talks have brought all three of the prophets together to act as mediators for the event, and it is then that they learn that they have each been having disturbing nightmares that point them towards a tragic fate. Where are the dreams coming from? And is there a way that they can resist the directive of the fates when it means a death sentence for somebody that they hold dear?

It’s all very exciting. Things in the Realm are building towards the big battle that we have been anticipating since the first book, and in the middle of it all Caleb and Lily are coming together, Lily is finding her strength and becoming the woman she was meant to be, and when the Kurjans become involved – with their leader wanting Lily for himself - things become dangerously violent. It’s a wild ride and it moves at a great pace with so much happening.

I loved this addition to the series. Again, there’s enough going on to warrant a whole book rather than just a novella, but I’m so damn impatient to get to the next book that it didn’t bother me. Bring on Janie and Zane!

4 stars.

Yes, a book by Ms Zanetti that's set in her Dark Protectors world ! These stories of vampires, witches and shifters are truly everything you want in a paranormal romance. A world were vampires of the Realm constantly struggle in a war against the Kurjan and try to find a cure for a deadly virus. It's a dangerous world but nothing is worth having if it's not worth fighting for!
Lily has been widowed for more than three hundred years but has always put her duty before personal happiness . She's one of three prophets who try to steer the Realm in the direction of peace and an end to the war they are fighting against the Kurjan. She's always felt a connection to Caleb but has fought against it but things are about to come to ahead and maybe this time Lily will reach out and grab at happiness.
Plagued by nightmares Lily sees a time coming when she will have to choose to make the ultimate sacrifice. Peace talks have been set up and every possible precaution has been taken but what if the enemy is already within? Not everyone truly desires peace and if Lily can find a moment of happiness with Caleb then maybe it's time to take it. Caleb's not waited this long to lose the only woman he would give his soul for though and if anyone can save her it's definitely Caleb.
Finally we get to see the demure ladylike Lily give in to her passion and Caleb helps her set the page on fire! He's such a hot sexy guy but o so dangerous and everything you want in a romantic hero. It's always been presumed that Lily is gentle and yes she does have a gentle nature but she doesn't lack back bone and has inner strength that makes her an appealing heroine. It's not always essential to have a kick ass heroine and quiet strength and a belief in self worth works very well here .
This story is too short! I love the chemistry between the hero and heroine but it was fantastic to catch up with other characters and see how their lives were progressing . I felt in someways that as a reader I had come full circle back to the beginning as Janie who was a child in the first book is all grown up in this novella and it feels fitting that the storyline continues.
This has been an amazing series with wonderful characters. Lots of snappy dialogue and such interesting world building. I do think these are best read in order as it would be a crying shame to miss out on any of the story telling . A huge recommendation for lovers of paranormal romance.

As we race toward the possible culmination of this exhilarating series, it is only fitting that the 300-year-old history between our two favourite prophets is finally resolved.

All the stories in this remarkable series, even the novellas, are awe-inspiring and enthralling, and this short but captivating story loses nothing in its brevity.

While Lily Sotheby has continually maintained an air of ladylike reserve and professionalism, I have always believed that more lies beneath her refined and cultured surface.

And who better to ruffle her resolve and unsettle her devotion to duty, than a sexy rebellious warrior in the form of Caleb Donovan. Focused on her safety, but overwhelmed by his insatiable attraction, Caleb is determined bring Lily’s forceful and passionate nature to the fore.

When the chemistry finally ignites between this impassioned couple; not even the powers of fate, or an impending war can eclipse their desire.

TAMED is definitely a one sitting read filled with all the deceit, intrigue and passion, we’ve come to expect from a Dark Protector novel, and I sincerely hope you enjoy Lily and Caleb’s story as much as I did.

Caleb and Lily's story:

This was way too short but only because I really liked this couple and would have loved to see more from them. I would not suggest reading this as a standalone. See standard review for overall series below.

Series Review: Fun, fast paced PNR series. Great storyline, characters and suspense. Insta-love, mates for life, possessive Alphas and grotesque evil foes. There are Vampires, Shifters, witches, Demons and more. This is a continued storyline focusing on a different couple per book.

My Review:

I ended up liking this one but to be honest, it wasn't my favorite novella of the series. I just didn't care for the heroine and how she treated the hero. It seemed like the relationship was very one sided and that she didn;t seem very invested until she saw a vision and then she was all into him. I really felt sorry for the poor guy....doing all the work and not really getting a woman who would fight for him like he fought so desperately for her. So while I appreciated the magical elements of the plot of the story outside of the romance, the actual love story I lost interest in pretty quickly and really only wanted to know what was happening within the plot and betrayal of one of their own. But I can see how this one will work for other readers, it just wasn't for me.

I admit it, I am a Rebecca Zanetti junkie.. She has a new book out.. I am there, ready to read. I first fell hard and fast for her Dark Protectors and am thrilled that while keeping to the main plot of the life and loves of the Kayrs family, she still offers us these wonderful tidbits in novellas. Now I am not usually a fan of novellas as they just aren't long enough BUT.. I do enjoy it when an author manage to tell stories outside the main arc. Especially when it's done in a way that remains true to the storyline but tells us about those we might not have considered before. Tamed is a brilliant example of such a story, Lives within the plot.. individuals we have met before and now get to fall in love with.

Prophet Lily, that is how she is referred to. Respected, revered almost but she is more than a prophet, she is a woman of passion. 300 years ago she chose duty over love and mated the man her family chose for her. In the Vampire world, you only get one shot.. you are mated for life. If your hubby dies after two weeks.. too bad you are still mated. That is until the Kurjans created the virus that would unmate a woman. Of course it also destroyed your DNA and eventually took you all the way to nothing but for now it just unmates you. Lily was exposed to the virus and now discovers that she has another chance. A chance at love.. but can she ever be brave enough to go down that path again?

Caleb Donovan is a soldier, a man of war so how is it exactly that he was chosen by fate to become a prophet? Fate must be crazy.. Not only is he a prophet but now has to work in close proximity to the one woman he has always loved. The one woman who chose duty over love. How can he do it. Of course walking into a dive and discovering that the love of his life is there to get laid.. yeah sort of takes things to a whole new level.. Except Caleb may not be what he considers prophet material but he is a man of honor, a man sworn to protect, so he may want Lily but he knows that he has to woo her first If only those darned prophecies would stop coming in and messing things up.

All three of the prophets are having nightmares, telling them that for there to be peace, Janie Karys must die.. Lily especially is given a choice, kill Lily or lose the only chance she will ever have to have a child with Caleb. I loved Lily's response.. no not gonna tell you.

Of course it's not enough that there is a supposed peace talk coming up, it's not enough that Lily has the Virus, it's not enough that her libido has been reawoken, and it's not enough that her dreams are demanding she kill Janie...nope she has a crazy Kurjan who wants her for his mate. Yeah, like that is going to happen.

Rebecca does a wonderful job telling this lovely story in too few words (yep that's me, it was too short). But the story did not suffer. The characters did not suffer and the villains well, they suffered but not because this book was short.. Another great story by Ms Zanetti.

I feasted on this series!!
The world build, the characters, everything about this series is delicious and addicting.

Caleb & Lily are interesting characters. Their past is intriguing and I liked them both.
They definitely had a lot of steamy adult scenes.

Unfortunately there were areas that tended to lag.
The relationship between them and the details about them needed more intensity and detail.

There is a lot of suspense and some mystery in this one.
This was mostly well done, but it was also lacking in areas.

I felt it could have been much better. It needed some work to make it a great read.
I will say it was entertaining & I enjoyed it.
I just wasn't my favorite of the series.

That was incredible... Lily and Caleb are perfect! After centuries, they are finally together and Lily is still infected with the virus and can't mate with Caleb but saw vision of her son (he's adorable) I truly cannot wait for the next book as it's Janie's and Zane's. Want MORE!

An interesting look at the prophets.

What I enjoyed:
* The girls trying to have a normal night out.
* Caleb and Lily were great together. Wow it sucks they missed out on 300 or so years.
* Glad to see

What could have been better:
* How can you trust anyone or anything in this world
* Felt a bit rushed

Caleb and Lily get a second chance at happiness together many years after their paths took them in different directions.

Preparations for peace talks between the Kurjans, the vampires and the demons are underway, and Lily and Caleb, along with Giles, the third prophet, are tasked with mediating.

Caleb wants to keep her away from the peace talks in order to protect her from what he believes is just their enemies latest attempt to get their hands on Janie, but Lily is determined to stay and hopeful that peace isn't as unlikely as Caleb believes.

.

Their adventures and the sparks that are still flying between them even after so many years since their short romance only bring them closer and, with Lily's former mating dissolved after her exposure to Virus 23, nothing stops them from finally being together.

Short and sweet story that progresses the overall story arc and leads to a story that had been a long time coming, that of Janie and the mysterious Zane in Marked.

Rebecca Zanetti's Dark Protector series book 6.5, Tamed is fantastic! I love this series, I read this twice before I sat down and wrote this review. Caleb and Lily finally! In previous books Caleb was designated by Fate to be a Prophet, the only problem is that Caleb is a warrior, the Realm Rebel was kicked out of the realm for choosing his family members marriage to a shifter rather then the arranged demon, but with the war join forces with Dage and the rest of the Kayrs Brothers to fight the Kurjans. Lily has been dealt a bad hand in some ways she chose duty over love only to end up alone and a prophet when her mate died weeks after mating leaving her alone for more the three hundred years. After being infected by a virus that removed her mates mark she finds herself longing for the intimate touch of another person, and that person is Caleb.

The Prophet Lily Sotheby always presented a conservative and peaceful exterior, what else would you think a prophet to look like especially one who counsel the soldiers on PTSD and everything else. But their is one person who knows Lily better then that, knows she's got a fierce tempter and a hidden passion buried deep under the cool calm cover, and he has never stopped loving her even after she chose someone else chose duty over Caleb Donovan. Caleb Donovan despite his Prophet title is helping set up the peace talks between the different races of the Realm, as a warrior by nature he is paranoid about letting Lily be there, fearing he would be to distracted by her to do his job correctly. Still hopeless in love with her he is more then willing to help her scratch that itch, that itch she hasn't been able to scratch since the death of her mate.

Together at last Caleb and Lily are both having strange dreams. Dreams in which Fate is telling them they have to kill Janie Kayrs in order for all the races to survive the war. Not believing in the dreams no matter how tempting they make killing her seem Lily and Caleb aren't giving in. But is something more sinister behind dreams or is it really Fate pushing them?

This was so not long enough I so wanted more when I finished reading it, and the bad thing is that I have to wait until December for the next one. Caleb and Lily make a hot couple and Rebecca Zanetti sure knows how to write sex. *fans self* If you haven't read this series READ IT! I personally like it better the Brotherhood of the Black Dagger.

Lily and Caleb are Prophets, which from what I gather are sort of vampire guides for the supernatural races. Three centuries ago, they were young and in love and would’ve mated had Lily’s father not arranged another marriage for her. It was only a few weeks later when her mate was killed, and his role as prophet was passed on to her. Being mated, she couldn’t be with anyone else until a virus changes all of that and removes the mating bonds freeing her up to be with anyone she desires. Preparations are underway for peace talks between the supernatural races, and it’s time for Caleb and Lily to finally face up to their destiny. And it's a great ride! Caleb Donovan lost Lily three centuries ago because it was ordained she marry another man. He repressed his passion and surrendered to the fate they had. But he no longer inclined to follow fate and repress his passions.

Tamed is a novella in the Dark Protectors series, centering on vampires, but you don’t have to read the other books to enjoy this story. A great novella. It was great to see Lily and Calab get their own story. Throughout the other books it was obvious that there was a history and a connection between the two of them, so I really enjoyed getting to see their story unfolds in this book. I enjoy it as a collective whole, it is not one of my favorite series but it would get an honorable mention. Some of the books are better than others and I typically have liked the novellas. This novella is not exception to that trend. Its quick, its action packed and it is enjoyable. The main characters are the prophet Lily and the Realm Rebel, Caleb Donovan. The story falls after Shadowed (Book 6). I recommend reading the other stories in the series before reading Tamed. This book was nothing short of delicious. Lily and Caleb were so hot they jumped off the pages. I was curious how they would end up together. Once again we are still in limbo with this peace between the races and Janie reaching her destiny. :sighs: I cannot wait for the next book.

“So. Rumor has it you want to get laid.”

“When you’re in a room, you’re all I see.”

HAPPY RELEASE DAY 5/15/2014!!!

This is book 6.5 in the Dark Protector Series by Rebecca Zanetti. Each one of these is building to a huge climax, and I can hardly wait to see the outcome.

While this is a later book in the series, one can quickly be caught up in the world that Ms. Zanetti has built. A world of vampires, demons, humans, kurjans, prophets, and shifters.

Caleb is a warrior who was in the wrong place at the right time and is now a prophet. He kind of thinks that his warrior status outweighs the prophet every time. He needs to rethink and come to terms with his new status. He's been in love with Lily for centuries. Her family married, and mated, her to another 300 years ago. He died shortly after their bonding, and she's been alone since. There was no way to even touch another man in all that time because the mating bond acted like a severe allergen. But now she's been infected with a virus created by the Kurjans...and the mating bond has eased. She's also going to die, eventually, from the virus.

Yes, lots of twists and turns here. But this author makes it easy to follow. That takes talent.

Lily and Caleb have hankered after each other all this time and now they have the opportunity to come together. Your reader may just melt. Of course, the path is littered with betrayal, nightmares, abductions, shootings, and mystery. What a fun ride this is!

Now, I really need Jane's story!

*Thank you, NetGalley and Kensington, for the opportunity to read Tamed*

Amazing series from another author I am just getting to know & appreciate!! She snuck on in there & she's on my auto-buy author list!! WOW!!

I read so much, that sometimes an author gets by me without my notice. I can't say why, because some are so good I am surprised I haven't read their earlier books.

My first experience with this series was this novella. It was actually a great place to start! I was totally interested & it was short, so it was kind of like a fast, finished advertisement instead of a preview! It totally worked!! I am so going to start in the beginning now & read them all!! She's good at novellas. It felt complete!

This great book started with girls getting in trouble through no fault of their own other than being in a bar. Had a bar fight. Then, the hunky man was there to save the day. Perfect start.

The one liners were awesome, like "I don't want you there, because when you're around, you are all that I see." I'd go for that one... LOL!!

This was a great paranormal book, that moves fast, draws you in, sets you up for the next book, so you can't wait for it, makes you want to read the rest of the series and on top of all that, it mixes hot and steamy with suspenseful... what else could you want!

Fantastic story

I believe that this series is just getting better and better. I enjoyed reading Caleb's and Lily's story. These two characters are strong and stubborn and their romance is fantastic. This book is a shorter story or it seemed that way to me. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Written For Confessions From Romaholics

“Tamed” lead us one step closer to Janie and Zane’s story and toward the end of this series. I have to confess that I have mix feelings about this. I mean, I’m really excited that I’ll finally be able to find out how the prophecy will end and learn about Janie and Zane (I’ve been waiting for their story since the first dream they shared in the first book), but on the other hand I’m sad because this is such an amazing series and I take great pleasure in reading it.

This book brings us another couple, Lily and Caleb. Lily Sotheby lived as a Prophet since the death of her husband marked her as one, embracing her status and putting her duty above anything and everything else. After three centuries she has seen many terrible things, but still she is the epitome of innocence and bashfulness. Caleb Donovan is exactly what he appears to be: a hard, rough-around-the-edges warrior who refuses to accept that Fate chose his destiny when he was marked as a Prophet. He believes that he makes his own destiny, and when Lily is freed of her mate mark, he sees another chance with the only woman meant to be his. She once chose to do her duty by marrying another man, but now he can finally lure into light the woman behind the duty, the woman who hides behind the proper attitude and far too decent clothes. However, Lily is a great prize now that she can mate again after the cure is found; she is also wanted by Franco, the leader of the Kurjan nation, with plans of his own. And who is better than the Rebel Realms to come to her rescue?

Their courting is a sensual dance of passion and love tangled with nightmares and visions. Action, betrayal, and kidnapping are a few of the elements which can be found in this short novella, elements that manage to fill the rows of the pages and create a complex and complete story told at a fast pace without disappointing readers by leaving gaps.

Even if the end is a happy one and its left open for the continuation of the storyline, I would have wished for Lily and Caleb’s happy end to be more final and less imaginative and full of hope.

As usual, I enjoyed Rebecca Zanetti’s writing and I’m very eager for the final book to find out more about Zane and about Janie’s choices. I highly recommend this series.

Tamed is a short story in the Dark Protectors Series by Rebecca Zanetti. The main characters are the prophet Lily and the Realm Rebel, Caleb Donovan. The story falls after Shadowed (Book 6). I recommend reading the other stories in the series before reading Tamed. I believe the story would make more sense and would be much more enjoyable.

Centuries ago, the prophet Lily chose to marry for duty instead love. Then, Fate stole her husband away only weeks after their mating and left Lily bound to her dead vampire mate for centuries without hope for love or even sexual release. Lily has been haunted by memories of the man she turned her back on centuries ago. Now, Lily is plagued with the Kurjans’ virus, released to destroy vampires’ mates by their enemies. As the virus destroys Lily’s chromosomes, her mating with her dead husband is terminated. Lily is free to explore sex without pain.

Caleb has returned to the Realm and is now a prophet. To try to save the world, the Vampires, Witches, Kurjuans, and Demons are attempting peace talks. Lily and Caleb must work closely together to ensure these talks are run smoothly and safely. Tension is high but can Lily and Caleb remain focused on peace or will their burning desire finally engulf their souls?

I am captivated by Zanetti’s vampire world. Her characters have depth. The men in her stories are overprotective and alpha while the women are still stubborn and independent. Zanetti’s exploration of the relationship dynamics between alpha men and independent women is spicy and fun. She is always able to find a way for the men to maintain their dominance while allowing the women to achieve their own goals. Her heroines are always resilient and never appear weak while falling in love with tough, alpha men. I enjoyed reading Caleb and Lily’s story. Who knew a rebel could be such a romantic? I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys vampire novels, especially Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed Series.

Thank you Kensington Publishing Corp. for the opportunity to read this novella early. I truly love this series. I received an advanced copy from Net Galley in return for my honest review.
