Life is too short to read a lousy book. Pick a new goal and move on. :)

35559 I can read this for "Green text on cover". This is the edition I'd be reading, so it's the one whose cover counts, right? The Grub-And-Stakers Move a Mountain (Grub and Stakers Mystery, #1) by Alisa Craig

35559 I can do at least one more after the "darning" book, but I'll wait till the morning here to decide. Then I can see what's still open. :)

(I know I could do the perfect cube number, animal in title, pumpkin on cover or starts with "An".)

Not sure if we have one ..."

I know. You know the one goal we've only gotten once? "Read a book that you got for free." Every book I read would probably work for that one. lol Of course, it wouldn't be as satisfying. :)

ETA - I've been forgetting to put my team name in my messages when I report on my books. Sorry. You'd think after all this time I wouldn't forget that. :(

35559 I've finished Groom in Training for "Pet name starts with 'F'". The heroine has a dog named Fred.

I'll read Village Diary tomorrow. It has the word "darning" in it. It's the next in the series, after Village School which I just read for "radish". So that works out nicely. lol

ETA - Team Maximus. Sorry I forgot.

35559 Karen, I'm reading for pet name stars with "F". Should be finished in an hour. :)

I can read a book with "darning" in the text tomorrow, if we still need it.

35559 I've been participating in a number of the challenges here and am really enjoying them. It's especially nice since I don't have many people to talk about reading with right now, so this is a place to come chat about books. :)

I keep eyeing the RPGs, but I have no idea where to start or how. Is there an introductory one for folks who don't know if they'd like them or not, perhaps not a year-long one? Some place that explains how they work and where we can ask silly questions? I guess I'm envisioning an "RPG for Beginners", if that exists.

Thanks!

No problem. The world is full of books worth picking up, a challenge just helps me decide which ones to try next. :)

Am off to finish "Romans" and start working on the review for it.

35559 OK, I'll take "Pet name starts with 'F'". Groom in Training, 214 pages, has a dog named Fred. If someone is reading Harry Potter they can save that for one of the many other goals it will work for. :)

Is that goal still around? & which book is Dragon Harper? (suspect different UK/us titles)
I might be able to read it..."

It's this one: Dragon Harper by McCaffrey and her son Todd. Citrines should be mentioned twice. You can see it here: https://books.google.com/books?id=-V2...

You could use Jeeves in the Offing. Several of the girls get engaged to guys their families hate and Jeeves has to help them get their HEAs.

Sure, sorry. I can see why you don't want to try and go back to find it. :)

Village School 239 pages.
Use for "radish" in text.
"She had twisted the corner of the face-flannel into a formidable radish and was turning it remorselessly round and round inside his left ear." page 11
Sep 24, 2015 10:23AM

35559 I've finished Village School, as previously mentioned for "radish".

I'd already started it a couple of weeks ago and then put it aside. I think when this challenge is over I'm going to reread all her books, I love them so much. :)

Waiting for a few more opinions, then we'll get to requesting all of these boons. I think we're up to 4 now."

Again, it's just me, but I'm OK with that. Right now we still have time for people to pick and choose a book for a goal. When we get down to the last day or so only the quick readers will be able to do that. So clearing a few goals out now gives more chances to everybody to get in a last goal or two. Clearing them out at the last minute might allow us to use already finished books but it might not. But that's just my opinion, and I really don't care either way. :)

I vote boons for memoirs, C. Am author and Alexandrite.

Evidently "Citrine" can be found in Dragon Harper by Anne McCaffrey and Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier but I can't get either in the next couple of days.

35559 Eldarwen wrote: "The new Gabrielle goal (since Teri finished a wolf in title book) is another one of our favourites:

I vote boon, too. Though if you want to give it a few hours, that's OK. It's very limited and we don't have time for someone to request a book that would fit...

OK, works for me. :) I'll go read "radish". lol
Sep 24, 2015 08:21AM

35559 I got so interested in the new goals I forgot to add I finished another off-the- library-paperback-rack book. Secret of the Wolf (Heart of the Wolf), 256 pages. Insomnia is good for something. lol

It will work for the goal of "wolf in the title" or "name of an animal in the title."

35559 Allison Ann wrote: "I'm actually reading a radish book right now and a dinosaur one. I think we should dump the gemstone ones though, can't find them anywhere."

How close are to to finishing your radish book? Since we're getting down to the wire I don't see any reason to duplicate efforts on purpose. I can read mine in a couple of hours if you want to focus on the dinosaur. If not, I'll find a different goal. No problems either way. :)
Sep 24, 2015 07:57AM

35559 Believe it or not I can do "radish". :) It's in the first book in a series I've been wanting to reread anyway.

I'm all for using boons that have been hanging around with no one volunteering for them, especially those pesky ones like that memoir goal that keep coming back before we filled the last one. I'm thinking "alexandrite" is a toughie, too. Give everyone a chance to get one last goal book in. :)
