Eight Beloved Books from Each of the Past 10 Years

Here at Goodreads World Headquarters, we spend a lot of time sorting books into stacks. It’s fun, if a little hard on the back. The key is to lift with your legs. Anyway, we occasionally stumble upon a particularly interesting sorting technique.
Such is the case with today’s collection, which features a sampling of the most beloved books from the past decade, arranged by publication year. We say “sampling” because it’s not a straight listing of the year’s most popular books. Instead, it’s a representative collection of the books that your fellow readers are currently reading (or perhaps rereading) and recommending.
As such, this collection folds in sleepers and slow-burn hits—titles that didn’t necessarily blow up on initial publication but have since gained traction through BookTok, word of mouth, back-catalog explorations, etc. What they all have in common is that they are clearly beloved by readers.
Station Eleven is a good example. A literary sci-fi novel set in a post-pandemic Midwest, the book was plenty popular when it first came out in 2014. But it has remained popular for a full decade now. The excellent HBO series adaptation is part of the story, surely, but this continuing interest suggests that author Emily St. John Mandel’s novel speaks to readers in an enduring way.
Other books in this stack might include Taylor Jenkins Reid’s historical Hollywood novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo or Victoria Schwab’s perennially popular contemporary fantasy The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
Scroll down to browse the collection by calendar year, and if you want to dig deeper, click on the headline for each section (“Books Published in 2022”) to read the full list. If any individual book catches your eye, click the Want to Read button to add the title to your wish-list shelf.

Read 41, with a good share of others already marked as want to read…

I've read 19 books on this list. I'm sort of impressed with myself. Some were excellent, some not so good.
I've read 49 of these, most of which were great. The standouts: Demon Copperhead, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow, Circe, Normal People, Born a Crime, Homegoing, and of course Station Eleven.
I'm surprised someone said most of these are fantasy; I only see 11 that could reasonably be called fantasy.
35 down… and I have immensely enjoyed them… And continuing on, as many more to go.. These lists Goodreads sets up, are amazing!
I've read 23 of these. My top 3 are The Invisible Life of Addie Larue, Remarkably Bright Creatures, and The Silent Patient.
23 books for me, and 2 DNF’s. My favorites were Remarkably Bright Creatures, Fourth Wing, Educated and Before We Were Yours.
I've read 11 I think. I want to read like 30 or so. Dark Matter was stressful & awesome! Born a crime is best on audiobook as Trevor narrates it & he's hilarious!! All the light you Cannot See is beautiful & the audiobook was riveting. Heartstopper is heartwarming, The Hate You Give is enlightening, To all the Boys I've loved before is wholesome and Six of Crows has my favorite trope..a heist.
13 but I have a lot more on my tbr list all but one were 5 star but All the light you cannot see and Gentleman in Moscow are my favourites
I've read 43. Some of them multiple times (The Body Keeps the Score, anyone?). I am curious about Piranesi, but I am not ready to commit.

16 of these books are on my tbr, I've read 4, and dnf'ed 1. I want to read almost all of the books chosen for 2022. For the ones I've read, I liked Six of Crows and Midnight Library!
I've read 24 and have a few on my reading list. From 2021 I've not read any nor are those in my reading list either.
Thanks for sharing info with us.Yeah. Many talented writers are in this literature world.
We can be grateful & happy for them.
Reading is great thing & also great inspiration for us writers.
Susan wrote: "I’ve read 12, some on my to be read list."Difficult w/o knowing your cup of tea, but I think Liane Moriarty and Frederik Backman's works remain good - not only those titles but most of them. And I've enjoyed Celeste Ng. For me, those are the most 'timeless' titles from the list.
I've read 57 of these titles. They include some of my favorites from the last decade. A few more on my TBR!
I've only read 7, 1 is on my physical TBR, and a good amount of the others are ones I want to read in the future
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo really transported me. I don’t remember what I expected going in, but I got a lot more.
I've only read 4 books on this list. Most of these are not my cup of tea. Also, which one was published 10 years ago? All of these seem recent.
I've read 28 and some of them were my favorites and many were 5-stars read. Gosh, do I feel mainstream.
