Guaranteed, Reader-Approved Summer Page-Turners by Genre

The concept of “the page-turner” has always been a little slippery. Typically, the term refers to books with gripping, plot-heavy narratives. Readers want to know what happens next, pages get turned, everybody’s happy. Think thrillers, mysteries, adventures—that sort of story.
But really, you can have a page-turner in any genre, as we found out when we crunched some numbers for this collection of recommended titles. We examined the average time it takes to finish a book, as determined by Goodreads readers marking a book “currently reading” to “read.” By feeding the numbers into our supercomputer, we’ve determined the superior page-turners in a number of genres.
Some fun facts: The majority of the titles gathered below were completed by readers in fewer than seven days. And the fastest book on average? Rebecca Serle’s One Italian Summer. Readers devoured this book’s 272 pages in an average of three days.
Scroll over the book covers to learn more about each title, and add the ones that pique your interest to your Want to Read shelf. If you have any page-turner recommendations of your own—or any land-speed records you wish to report—give us the details in the comments section.

I recommend Letters to the Lost by Brigid Kemmerer

I’m definitely more of a mystery and romance reader, but hilariously I’ve read most of the horror recommendations. Apparently that’s my summer vibe lol

I too, wish for these genres to be included!

I think I finished it in about a week, just because I was busy with school. I honestly think I could have finished it in a day if I didn't have anything else to do haha. It was such a good book and I couldn't put it down. My mom actually had to take it away from me so I would go to sleep one night lol. <3
"The Noise" by James Patterson & J.D. Barker is fantastic! Based in my neck of the woods is always fun, but the possibility that this could happen is terrifying!
"Migrations" by Charlotte McConaghy. A beautiful thriller, which you keep reading to find out more and to get lost in the beautiful prose and scenery.
Mack wrote: "I recommend A Good Girl's Guide to Murder <3"I enjoyed this book very much and will read the sequels!

I have yet to read the sequels, but I'm hoping to read them soon! My mom is trying to find them for me. We found the hard cover version of the second book, but it was very expensive, so my mom is looking for the paperback versions.
I'm so happy to finally see The People We Keep making these lists. It was one of my favorite books out of the 119 that I read last year.
American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins - page turner for sure!American Dirt
Also Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri . I inhaled this book!Unaccustomed Earth

I recommended Octavia E. Butler's The Parable of the Sower and The Parable of the Talents. Both novels are impeccable page-turners.

Last Girl Gone is one of my favorite thrillers. I just finished it. Circe is also great. It’s a retelling of the myth.

*Also a young adult & middle grade section would be nice too please.
Can we separate Sci Fi and Fantasy? These genres are really different. If you have horror and thriller separate, these should have the same opportunity.

adding subcategories: Dark Romance
Erotic Romance
Gothic Romance(s) ex: Broken Kingdom by JL Beck
Dark Bully Romance
This is great! But you should use your powerful computers and add more genres like non-fiction, young adult, historical fiction, middle grade/kids, etc!
I doubt the algorithm was able to separate the people who marked a book as read only because they read about 20% and then quit. That would not take much time at all. Technically some of these books could be on here because they were bad. Lol!
