rem:  Hullo my friend, welcome. Tell us three random things about yourself.

LINDA:  I love orange slices (the candy), I collect turtles (well, sculptures or such), I love the cold here in Tennessee.

rem:  Oooh, I love turtles! What do you do as a hobby?

LINDA:  Sheesh. Time for hobbies? rem: LOL right  Well, reading would be my biggest, maybe only, unless church and family count. I do like to take pictures, of family and flowers! I’m kind of a dull girl from the world’s point of view.

rem:  An author is never dull! LOL What would you be doing if you weren’t writing?

LINDA:  More with family, at church, with the Gideons (which I am a part of with my husband).

rem:  Family time is always good. If you could go back in time, what era would you choose and why?

LINDA:  Regency. Oh, well, I do have the romantic streak in me.

rem:  Yes, that shows in your writing. #winkwink What do you think is significant about Christian fiction?  How has being a novelist impacted your relationship with Christ?

LINDA: I think Christian fiction is so important in today’s society. We have so much of the world—in the form of TV, movies, books, youtube, schools, friends, secular books and magazines, and online games—telling us how to think and act that we need a balance! The Word of God is the best. You can’t beat the Bible for straightening out your thinking, but Christian fiction and its Christian world view can supremely help balance all that the enemy is throwing at us. It’s like Christian music (praise and worship). It helps bring God’s perspective to us. Your second question about how has writing Christian fiction brought me closer to Christ? That is because sometimes what I am writing I don’t even see until I read it later and then realize God was using me to say something He wanted. rem: ain’t God awesome!  I was blind to it at the time. Had to be probably.   Also, I listen to lots of worship music as I write, and sometimes I just have to stop writing and bow before Him. He is awesome!

rem:  When reading, what makes or breaks a story for you? Your fiction pet peeve?

LINDA:  When reading actions that are either unbelievable or too often repeated in too many books. For instance, women always tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, or someone’s stomach growling. Or a guy who wants to touch a woman’s hair to see if it is as soft as it looks. Those are not even plot points, but they are used over and over in the books I read. I want to say Be original. But then I can do the same too. So, I better watch out. A third pet peeve is when an author’s ending is just so-so. They book goes along great but there is no real bang or zip at the end. Nothing that leaves you with well, that was good.

rem:  Oh, yes, sometimes in our attempts to tuck in a bit of realism we end up shoving in a bit of boring. LOL  What are you reading right now?

LINDA:  I just finished Deadly Objective by Lynn Blackburn. Pretty good. Much like some of Dee Henderson’s older books.

 

rem:  I love Lynn’s books. (haven’t read any of hers in a while, though) Tell us a little about your writing journey.

LINDA:  Oh, wow. That would take too long.   But to shorten it, I used to write stories when I was twelve and into my teens. When I married, I found that wouldn’t work with a career and a husband and then children. In my fifties, I started writing again! I went the traditional route for a few years and then my agent encouraged me to “jump ship” and try Indie publishing (self-publishing through Amazon/KDP). I did. It was a huge learning curve, but I am so glad I took that step. It’s given me a lot of freedom to write what I feel God is putting on my heart.

rem:  What do you enjoy most about being a writer?

LINDA:  The creative part and then when someone says something in a book really spoke to them.

rem:  Double YES! What genre(s) do you write and why?

LINDA:  Christian romantic suspense. Because I want to read something where I have to use my brain. Pure romance and too much gushy emotion is hard for me.   I like some action.

rem:  And you do it so well, your stories have a good balance of romance and suspense. Tell us a little about your latest book? What is your current project?

LINDA:  I am writing the 5th book in the Spiritual Warfare Series. A series I thought would only have three books in it. It is a Christmas novella, so it will have more romance, but also suspense and action.

rem:  What is YOUR favorite part about the book or why do you love this book? Why should we read it?

LINDA: Oh my. Why do I love my own book? That sounds so…prideful. Right? But if there is good stuff, we know God is the one who gets the glory! I love Christmas and all it means. God putting His plan into action. Anyway, my hero’s struggle with himself in that he wants revenge for something someone did to a friend, and my heroine’s struggle with herself because she feels she’s never good enough, and those two things all wrapped up in a gang shooting and Christmas and romance….well, you get it.

rem:  What is one take-away from your book(s) that you hope readers identify with?

LINDA:  Always coming back to God because He love us. We can trust Him.

 

rem:  Yes and amen!! One more and then we’ll close. Do you have a life Scripture?

LINDA:  II Cor. 3:18  “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”  I love this because we all want to change to be more like Jesus, but like Paul we find that the good we want to do, we don’t do and what we don’t want to do, we do. BUT, this verse says that we are changed as we behold his glory! It is in seeing him, in knowing him that we are changed. So wonderful.

rem:  Anything you’d like to add?

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my books or will enjoy them as much as I did writing them.

Besides being an author, I am married with two grown sons, a precious daughter-in-law and six grandchildren whom I love!

In between raising a family, I worked in the banking industry, then became a center director for a pregnancy center. I spent eight years with an anti-trafficking group in the Tampa Bay area, and eight years at Trinity College of Florida. These last three influenced my thinking greatly and influence my writing as well.

I love sweet tea, and the beaches, the swamps, and the forests of my native Florida. I now reside in Tennessee near my grandchildren, and love the coolness, the mountains and seasonal changes of Tennessee, especially the fall leaf change!

I started writing when I was twelve then put it all away when I married. At 27, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. Years later, I started writing again, but now I had God’s help and purpose!

I write Christian romantic suspense. My books wrap sweet romance in real-life issues women face today. Some of these are hard situations that find their answer in God’s love, power and forgiveness. Each book includes mystery and suspense and a dose of laughter. I desire is not only to entertain, but also to encourage others in their walk with God.
